[Bug 841672] Re: ssh-add does not always unlock ssh keys

Very annoying bug. One way round it is from your terminal prompt do:

$ exec ssh-agent bash

Then `ssh-add` will work as expected.

[Bug 841672] Re: ssh-add does not always unlock ssh keys

2012-04-24 Thread Hamish Downer
Scratch my last workaround (#13). It didn't work. This one does though

Stop gnome-keyring ssh-agent from starting. Then ssh-agent and ssh works
as expected.

To stop gnome-keyring ssh-agent from starting do:

sudo mv /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh /etc/xdg/autostart
/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop.disabled

I first posted this, plus a load of stuff about trying to work through
the problem at http://askubuntu.com/questions/122824/how-to-manually-
trigger-ssh-add-dialog-box/

[Bug 510587] Re: Bind/named does not initialize on boot due to missing IPv6 address

2012-04-24 Thread Giuseppe Ravasio
I was having the same problem on a new dns server (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) but not on
an old one (Ubuntu 10.04LTS).
I noticed that the two /etc/network/interface had a different order for iface
lines and moving inet6 before ipv4 ipaliases solved the problem.

### WORKING ONE ###
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 93.x

[Bug 987770] [NEW] lxc-start: wrong terminal size

2012-04-24 Thread B Clausius
Public bug reported:

1. Create a Precise container with the Ubuntu template:
sudo lxc-create -n precise -t ubuntu -- -r precise
2. Start the container with lxc-start:
sudo lxc-start -n precise

The following effects can be observed:
a) Independent of the actual size:
ubuntu@precise:~$ echo $COLUMNS $LINES
80 24
b) Commands like less behave strange if not 80x24.
c) If you type a command that is longer than 80 chars, the cursor jumps to the
first column on the same line overwriting the prompt and the command; the ouput
of such commands is correct.

If you connect to the container with
sudo lxc-console -n precise
the effects a-c cannot be observed and work as expected.

Expected: containers started with lxc-create should behave like containers
connected to with lxc-console
Workaround:
sudo lxc-start -n precise -d
sudo lxc-console -n precise

[Bug 907197] Re: ip address can't be injected into the instance when using lxc

2012-04-24 Thread James Page
Hi ZhengPeng

Are you still seeing this issue?

At the moment we have been unable to reproduce this problem so it would
be great if you could confirm one way or the other.

Thanks

[Bug 987770] Re: lxc-start: wrong terminal size

2012-04-24 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug.

Note that you can get 'properly' sized consoles using 'lxc-console'. The
console you get from lxc-start is special, for instance you can also dump
it to a file with -c. If you don't want the initial console at all, you
can avoid taking up your terminal by doing 'lxc-start -n container -d' to
detach the original console, then 'lxc-console -n container' to get a
properly sized console.

The sizing behavior has always been as you describe. I'm not sure whether
to consider it a bug or not - we should discuss it with upstream. In the
meantime, I'll mark this bug confirmed and wishlist priority, so we don't
forget about it.

[Bug 423252] nss-ldap, SUID executables, gcrypt

2012-04-24 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Hi all,

this bug has been brought to my attention by my boss today.
If I understand the situation correctly, the problem is:

• OpenLDAP links against GnuTLS (gnutls26)
• gnutls26 links against gcrypt, which has the bug
• gnutls28 links against nettle, but also gmp which is LGPLv3+
• OpenLDAP thus can’t link against gnutls28, as it has reverse
  dependencies that are not LGPLv3-/GPLv3-compatible
• the package affected is libnss-ldap though

For some reason, neither nscd nor unscd seem to be able to
work around this bug, so it has become rather critical (e.g.
for use in company networks).

Why not do a readline and provide *two* versions of the
OpenLDAP client libraries, keep libldap-2.4-2 linked
against gnutls26 and add another shared library plus
development package (with at least the two shared library
packages coïnstallable) to link against gnutls28 and build
these BOTH from the SAME source package at the SAME time,
so an upload of OpenLDAP will not need another package to
be (re-)built to stay in sync.

Did anyone think of it already and will shoot this idea
down immediately? Or could it work?

bye,

Re: [Bug 423252] nss-ldap, SUID executables, gcrypt

2012-04-24 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Thorsten Glaser 423...@bugs.launchpad.net writes:
Why not do a readline and provide *two* versions of the
OpenLDAP client libraries, keep libldap-2.4-2 linked
against gnutls26 and add another shared library plus
development package (with at least the two shared library
packages coïnstallable) to link against gnutls28 and build
these BOTH from the SAME source package at the SAME time,
so an upload of OpenLDAP will not need another package to
be (re-)built to stay in sync.

Did anyone think of it already and will shoot this idea
down immediately? Or could it work?

I proposed this with openssl in Debian before (#579647), but it looks
like it was merged with my original bug report in gcrypt later and then
got lost.

Regards,
Ansgar

[Bug 988173] [NEW] maas-import-isos fails

2012-04-24 Thread Dan McGrath
Public bug reported:

After several attempts to try sudo maas-import-isos (from the
instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerTeam/MAAS), I keep getting
errors about proxying:

httpd does not appear to be running and proxying clobber

It seems to download everything just fine, but for whatever reason it
fails to actually save or install (or cache) the files, forcing me
through multiple hour long+ attempts at 50k/s :(

A quick glance at the process list does show apache and squid running,
however. This is an install from the 12.04 server beta 2 iso
(ubuntu-12.04-beta2-server-i386.iso). Should I have done anything beyond
telling it to install maas and apt-get updating the server? Also, I
didn't select any tasks during the installer.
