[Bug 573318] Re: mysql server will not start

2012-04-28 Thread ski
I also had this problem with ubuntu 12.04 and mysql-server 5.5, and
Paul's fix also worked for me. Seems like a pretty silly reason for
mysql to crash.

[Bug 975321] Re: maas-dhcp ignores input

2012-04-28 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Hi Erwin,

After running dpkg-reconfigure maas-dhcp you need to run maas-import-
isos to update all the necessary files.

Doing so will *automatically* generate /etc/dnsmasq.conf so you do *not*
need to move files anywhere. The reason why it is failing is because you
are copying the template file, which is a template and does not contain
the correct files.

Hope this information helps!

Cheers.

2012-04-28 Thread Erwin Rebergen
Problem still exists in 12.04 final. Running dpkg-reconfigure does not solve
the problem.
Found the settings in /etc/cobbler/dnsmasq.template. Moved the file to
/etc/dnsmasq.d/ but now dnsmasq service fails to start.

Think I am copying the /etc/dnsmasq.conf file to /etc/dnsmasq.d/ and
updating it manually ...

[Bug 990742] [NEW] does not depend on libsasl2-2 (>= 2.1.24)

2012-04-28 Thread Brian J. Murrell
Public bug reported:

I was trying to "apt-get install dpkg" to work around #944452 and got
the following while trying to upgrade slapd:

Setting up slapd (2.4.28-1.1ubuntu4) ...
Use of uninitialized value $type in ucfirst at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/AutoSelect.pm line 35.
  Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.conf in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.21-0ubuntu5.7...
done.
Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
  Loading from /var/backups/slapd-2.4.21-0ubuntu5.7:
  - directory dc=interlinx,dc=bc,dc=ca... failed.

Loading the database from the LDIF dump failed with the following
error while running slapadd:
4f9c4903 slap_sasl_init: auxprop add plugin failed
slapadd: slap_init failed!
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

This looks to be related to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=665473 where message #10 (http://bugs.debian.org
/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=665473#10) in that bug says:

This looks like a repeat of bug #628237. However, slapd 2.4.28-1.1/amd64
has a dependency on libsasl2-2 (>= 2.1.24), ...

Looking at the package info for slapd:

Package: slapd
Priority: optional
Section: net
Installed-Size: 4064
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers
Original-Maintainer: Debian OpenLDAP Maintainers

Architecture: i386
Source: openldap
Version: 2.4.28-1.1ubuntu4
Replaces: ldap-utils (<< 2.2.23-3), libldap2
Provides: ldap-server, libslapi-2.4-2
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.15), libdb5.1, libldap-2.4-2 (= 2.4.28-1.1ubuntu4),
libltdl7 (>= 2.4.2), libodbc1 (>= 2.2.11) | unixodbc (>= 2.2.11), libperl5.14
(>= 5.14.2), libsasl2-2, libslp1, libwrap0 (>= 7.6-4~), coreutils (>= 4.5.1-1),
psmisc, perl (>> 5.8.0) | libmime-base64-perl, adduser, lsb-base (>= 3.2-13)

We can see that it's not requiring a newer libsasl2-2.

At this point I did an "apt-get install libsasl2-2" and it installed the
new libsasl2-2 and allowed the configuration of slapd to finish.

[Bug 939795] Re: package lxc (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-04-28 Thread xlyz
hi Serge.

same problem here.

problem seems due to having a bridge already configured.

changed USE_LXC_BRIDGE to false in /etc/default/lxc solved it.

if it's not possible to handle an existing bridge during installation,
at least a more verbose error message would help.

[Bug 978356] Re: squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager

2012-04-28 Thread Wladimir Mutel
Have the same behaviour on a x86_64 server freshly-upgraded from Oneiric to
Precise.
On system reboot, squid3 does not start properly - gets killed by HUP signal as
recorded in syslog.
Logging into the system by ssh and manual starting service squid3 helps to
resolve the problem.
But having squid3 starting normally on bootup would be very beneficial.

I strongly suspect this misbehaviour happens due to incomplete
integration of upstart, ifupdown and resolvconf packages functionality.
I use system without NetworkManager (it's a server after all), my
interfaces are controlled by ifupdown and by ppp scripts. Probably
upstart starts ifupdown too early, again as it usually happens when you
have resolvsconf in universe instead of main.

[Bug 985741] Re: multipath can't show device on which is setup lvm

2012-04-28 Thread Peter Petrakis
@Vincent,

I'm glad we could get you sorted. New for 12.04 is the DM-Multipath
documentation which
really focuses around the upstream version multipath-0.4.9. You may find other
useful
bits of information there. Closing out this issue as "Invalid" since it is not
a defect.

Certainly!

http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

In this case, I think we'd want to just *backport* the precise upstream
version completely, since almost all changes should have been to add new
mappings of networks and tlds, or fix major bugs. Please verify that in
the upstream changelog before submitting that as a fix though. If that
is the case, I think we can waive the usual "no new upstream" rule for
stable release updates.

Thanks!

[Bug 937040] Re: Duplicate ufw rules installed by dovecot packages

2012-04-28 Thread Brian Knoll
I am seeing this here as well. After seeing the comment by Serge above,
I took a look at this. Here is what I did, and I propose that anyone
who is experiencing this problem should probably do the same:

rm /etc/ufw/applications.d/dovecot-common

The reason is that you already have these rules in the dovecot-core
file, so you are simply eliminating the old duplicate by doing this. I
suspect that in my case this arose because the machine in question was
upgraded from a Lucid installation to Precise, so would have had an
older package in place from before.

[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql

2012-04-28 Thread Rohit Yadav
Okay I used dovecot sasl for smtp authentication with postfix based on
flurdy's tutorial, I simply switch smtp/sasl auth to dovecot and used
dovecot's sql userdb authentication and it worked.

[Bug 989984] Re: Lookup for 101/8 reports Please upgrade this program.

2012-04-28 Thread Kasper Dupont
I'm still a bit new to Ubuntu. I'm more experienced with rpm based
systems. I haven't figured out the exact steps I need to do in order to
build a patched version of an ubuntu package, but if you could point me
at instructions that shows me how to build and install a modified deb
package, I'll have a patch ready for you in "no time".
