Right; we need a slightly different command to get around the fact that
dependencies aren't satisfied.

Try one of these:

  apt-get install --reinstall libldap-2.4-2 libldap-2.4-2:i386

  dpkg -i
/var/cache/apt/archives/libldap-2.4-2_2.4.28-1.1ubuntu4_amd64.deb

Either one of those should get things back to a consistent state.

[Bug 994887] [NEW] /MAAS/nodes page needs sorting abilities

2012-05-04 Thread LaMont Jones
Public bug reported:

When viewing /MAAS/nodes, it is sometimes useful to sort by hostname
(which may have actually been assigned to something other than the
nodename based on MAC address, as it was in our case). Today that can
only be done by cut-n-paste piped into sort, which is suboptimal.

The correct output is:

libldap-2.4-2   2.4.28-1.1ubuntu4
 /etc/ldap/ldap.conf 0b3f4d19d88498314478273ce10b0a70
libldap-2.4-2:i386

Somehow, you have a corrupted entry in your dpkg database for this
conffile.

Can you try running 'sudo apt-get install --reinstall libldap-2.4-2' to see
if that fixes the issue?

[Bug 993259] Re: ypbind does not start on boot

2012-05-04 Thread John Sopko
I confirmed this bug on 4 systems. Here is the output from
/var/log/upstart/ypbind.log:

Setting NIS domainname to: sunrize
No NIS server and no -broadcast option specified.
Add a NIS server to the /etc/yp.conf configuration file,
or start ypbind with the -broadcast option.
Binding to YP server .backgrounded

During boot it thinks there is no nis server in yp.conf.
If i put a sleep statement at the bottom of the /etc/init/ypbind.conf pre-start
script section,
its seems to work.

I have to crank the sleep to 10 seconds to get it to work.

[Bug 994781] [NEW] removing a node when it has failed commissioning is not possible from the UI

If a node failed to commission, and I wish simply to remove it from maas
completely, there is no way to do that from the UI, since the remove

[Bug 994779] [NEW] changing the IP address of the maas server requires a reinstall

2012-05-04 Thread LaMont Jones
Public bug reported:

For a variety of reasons, I wound up needing to change the IP address of
a MAAS server. Doing what it said to do at install time (dpkg
--reconfigure maas) was insufficient, and I eventually just reinstalled
the machine as the final fallback solution to fixing the config to the
new IP address.

Changing the IP address is not a common thing, but it happens often
enough (due to moves, etc) that it should be made trivial to do.

If you're talking about the share emblem that appears on shared folders, that is
handled by nautilus-share. Specifically, nautilus-share tells nautilus to put
the share emblem on folders that have been listed in the output of `net
usershare info'.

[Bug 994752] [NEW] lxc-start-ephemeral's use of dhcp lease table is fragile

2012-05-04 Thread Gary Poster
Public bug reported:

When lxc-start-ephemeral is given a command to run (-- do_something) it
wants to use lxc-attach to run the command, but lxc-attach is not ready
yet. Instead, it parses the dhcp leases to figure out the IP for the
container, and then tries to use ssh to run the command.

Twice today in tests involving lxc-start-ephemeral, the dhcp leases were
unavailable and lxc-start-ephemeral failed. The machine was under
fairly heavy load and was virtualized (EC2).

I'd like to try and make this less fragile. As discussed on IRC, using
lxcip
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~launchpad/lpsetup/trunk/files/head:/lplxcip/)
should make this more reliable. Perhaps increasing the timeout in that
code might be useful as well.

[Bug 917906] Re: Can't determine shared folders

2012-05-04 Thread masteryoda
Regarding the issue of the disappearing icons; isn't this a direct
nautilus problem (not nautilus-share)?

As far as I know, the nautilus-share extension package only extends the
context menu and communicates with samba via net usershare (which is a
samba tool).

Unfortunaltely I only have minor programming skills, and furthermore, I'm not
even sure what exactly the problem is (regarding the code).

nautilus-share is not part of nautilus. It is a plugin maintained separately
from Nautilus itself. As I'm not a developer of nautilus, I can't close the bug
myself, so you'll either have to close it yourself or wait for a nautilus
developer to mark it as RESOLVED NOTGNOME.

Nautilus-share itself doesn't seem to have a bugtracker (or I have not found
it), so this and bugs.debian.org are the only location I receive bugs from, as
both the package and upstream maintainer of nautilus-share. However, I don't
have the time to work on this bug at the moment. I would be glad to review and
commit a patch from you if you manage to fix it, though.

[Bug 988394] Re: Reboot hangs because /etc/rc6.d/S40umountfs chokes on non-existent mounts

2012-05-04 Thread agenkin
Steve, I think that you are both right and wrong. You are right that
autofs.conf does not work properly and that the autofs-related stuff
should be stopped before umountfs script runs. However, there are two
other things:

1. The entries in /proc/mounts with 'autofs' FSTYPE *are not file
systems that need unmounting*, hence it is both safe and valid to ignore
them in the umountfs script. The real file systems that have been
mounted by the automounter would show up as separate entries in
/proc/mounts with the proper FSTYPE ('ext4', 'nfs' or whatever).

2. The fstab-decode command should not hang on any input. It should be
more robust and handle the inconsistencies like this more gracefully.
Especially it should not hang when given a mount point at which no file
system is mounted, which is the case here.

In other words, I think that my patch to the umountfs script is correct
in as much as it accounts for the imperfect world in which the
automounter was not shut down properly and fstab-decode can be hung.

The patch is also completely safe because ignoring the 'autofs' entries
from /proc/mounts is completely harmless since they are not mounted file
systems.

to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security

The problem here is that "net usershare info" does not return an exit code of 0,
indicating that something has failed somewhere. But I'm guessing from their
response that I'm supposed to parse the output from stdout anyway and ignore the
exit code.

[Bug 917906] Re: Can't determine shared folders

2012-05-04 Thread masteryoda
Quote from bugziall.samba
(https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8852#c6)

Ok. This is a nautilus problem. The last step printing the error message prints
that error to stderr, the valid shares are listed on stdout. Again, I think
Samba just behaves correctly. Just tested this.

Regarding the disappearing icons: Samba does print out a list of the remaining
valid shares. Why nautilus does not display them is up to nautilus. I also
tested smbclient -L against the different situations: smbd lists the valid
shares even when there are invalid ones.

[Bug 917906] Re: Can't determine shared folders

2012-05-04 Thread masteryoda
Creating usershares:

gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ mkdir
/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/{bb,gg,pp}
gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ net usershare add cc
'/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/bb'

gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ net usershare info
[cc]
path=/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/bb
comment=
usershare_acl=Everyone:R,
guest_ok=n

gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ net usershare add ww
'/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/gg'
gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ net usershare add ff
'/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/pp'
gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ net usershare info
[ff]
path=/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/pp
comment=
usershare_acl=Everyone:R,
guest_ok=n

[cc]
path=/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/bb
comment=
usershare_acl=Everyone:R,
guest_ok=n

[ww]
path=/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/gg
comment=
usershare_acl=Everyone:R,
guest_ok=n

When creating usershares like this (via terminal), the sharing icons won't
appear until nautilus is restarted (respectively a specific command, which I
don't know, is executed)

gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ ls
bb  gg  pp

gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ mv gg ggg
gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ ls
bb  ggg  pp

gnomeuser@gnomeuser:~/Desktop/test$ net usershare info
[ff]
path=/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/pp
comment=
usershare_acl=Everyone:R,
guest_ok=n

[cc]
path=/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/bb
comment=
usershare_acl=Everyone:R,
guest_ok=n

info_fn: file /var/lib/samba/usershares/ww is not a well formed usershare file.
info_fn: Error was Path is not a directory.

After restarting nautilus, all sharing icons will disappear.

The sharing definition is still there:

gnomeuser@gnomeuser:/var/lib/samba/usershares$ cat ww
#VERSION 2
path=/home/gnomeuser/Desktop/test/gg
comment=
usershare_acl=S-1-1-0:R
guest_ok=n

I won't be able to test. I don't have anything to test on. I fixed my
problem locally, when it broke, as I had a "half-upgraded" main server.
 As you can imagine, I cannot leave a main server in a half-upgraded
state until all of the SRU-backporting red tape can be cut through, so I
went ahead and fixed it myself.

Perhaps somebody else who is experiencing this bug and is on this ticket
was able to leave there system in a half upgraded state.
