[Bug 996358] [NEW] juju probably should be using lxcbr0 instead of depending on libvirt-bin and using virbr0
Public bug reported: While testing juju, I noticed that its lxc implementation depends on libvirt-bin just to have virbr0 initialized. That seems to be a big dependency for something as trivial as creating a bridge and starting dnsmasq, even more so when lxc itself does that by default. I think juju should drop all the current libvirt code and simply use lxcbr0 by default (as it's shipped by default in the lxc package since 12.04), probably allowing the user to select another bridge if they wish. ** Affects: juju (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996358 Title: juju probably should be using lxcbr0 instead of depending on libvirt- bin and using virbr0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju/+bug/996358/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 974938] Re: Process "gsettings" prevents logging in
OK, put the /etc/X11/Xsession.c/90qt-a11y file back to normal. Then installed libnss-ldapd (note the d) and restarted. I can logon to the ldap desktop, but I don't get the background image, and the dock acts strange. The dock will launch firefox and terminal, but not my home directory. I can open links on the desktop to data on the ldap server, and they open and work fine. I logged off fine and got the lightdm logon screen again. [Bug 974938] Re: Process "gsettings" prevents logging in
I have this same issue. Fresh install of 12.04 today. All updates. Connecting to a working ldap server. I found a thread on ubuntu forums, and it said to rem out all the lines in /etc/X11/Xsession.c/90qt-a11y and install nscd. By doing that, I can get logged into the ldap server, but don't get my desktop background. I've got to get this resolved by next weekend as we are scheduled to install 18 new Ubuntu 12.04 ldap clients... I'd like to have them work! [Bug 996293] [NEW] Cannot login using active directory users ( Unknown id: $username )
Public bug reported: I'm currently having this issue on Ubuntu 12.04. I've verified that I've done everything listed in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ActiveDirectoryWinbindHowto. The smb.conf configuration I'm using is the same as the one I used in 10.04 (which works) with the exception that idmap config is used in place of idmap backend/uid/gid. - wbinfo -u / -g lists all the active directory users / groups just fine. - getent passwd / group fails at listing active directory users / groups. - wbinfo -a $username authenticates the user properly. - wbinfo -i $username fails to display the user info. I've attached my nsswitch, pam, and samba configuration as well as test.log which contains a log of the commands I've used to try to troubleshoot this issue. Could we include a one-time upgrade check when upgrading to the version in 12.04 that checks whether the resolvconf debconf question has been seen, and if it hasn't been (i.e. we're using the automatic default), to turn off resolvconf integration on upgrade? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to bind9 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996088 Title: Bind is not configured correctly on upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9/+bug/996088/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 993794] Re: Precise resolvconf+dnsmasq setup breaks login in some wireless networks
I've seen a problem like this before when logging into captive portals. I could be wrong here but I think this is what the problem is: * user logs in once to captive portal, everything works fine * that included dns redirect from the server to captive portal * login * subsequent stuff working fine * Then, the user suspends and attempts to re-connect. * They try to go to some web location in firefox (or browser) which does a dns lookup, which *would* be redirected to the captive portal login. However, this time, resolvconf/dnsmasq has the right result cached and serves it. So instead of going to the captive portal login, the user can't do anything. There may be one other step involved in this, possibly due to a redirect, but I think the issue is caching by dnsmasq. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993794 Title: Precise resolvconf+dnsmasq setup breaks login in some wireless networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/993794/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 522509] Re: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot
Hello Allen, As you may already know, the tftpd-hpa daemon is started on boot by the upstart system, as configured in the file /etc/init/tftpd-hpa.conf. This file contains a line beggining with "start on", which gives the *condition* in which upstart will start the daemon (by running the script that is defined in the same file). The error message "cannot resolve local IPv4 bind address: 0.0.0.0, Name or service not known" tells us that there is no configured IP address when tftpd is started. In my case, that happened because of the NIC bonding (multiple physical NICs configured as one logical NIC) configuration. The original "start on" condition (on lucid) is "start on (filesystem and net-device-up IFACE!=lo)". So when bondX gets up, that condition is satisfied, tftpd starts, but all the physical interfaces which are part of bondX are not ready yet, which gives the error, and makes tftpd exit. I changed the condition (in a non-generic, not even good way) so tftpd gets started later. It worked Do you use nic bonding too? I've just checked now that in Precise they changed the condition to "start on runlevel [2345]". I guess that should work even with bonding, don't remember if I tried that... Could it be another network configuration problem in your setup, maybe? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tftp-hpa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/522509 Title: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ltsp/+bug/522509/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 995956] [NEW] cgconfig upstart job should start earlier and mount all available cgroup types by default
Public bug reported: ubuntu 12.04 LTS, amd64 cgroup-bin 0.37.1-1ubuntu10 1. cgconfig upstart job should start earlier. /etc/init/cgconfig.conf contains this: start on runlevel [2345] but should contain this (like cgroup-lite.conf does) start on mounted MOUNTPOINT=/sys Why it's needed? Imagine, I want cupsd to start with memory limit (cgroup called daemon-cups). To do this I edited configs: /etc/cgconfig.conf group daemon-cups { memory { memory.limit_in_bytes = 50M; } } /etc/cgrules.conf root:/usr/sbin/cupsd memory daemon-cups Now, after computer rebooted, I can see that daemon-cups cgroup is created but cupsd isn't in daemon-cups cgroup tasks. It appears there only after: service cups restart That's because cups service started earlier than cgred service (and cgred service starts on started cgconfig). Than imagine what if lxc will somehow start earlier than cgconfig? No, it won't start at all. So, I think this should be fixed. 2. cgconfig should mount all available cgroup types by default. Default /etc/cgconfig.conf contains these: mount { cpu = /sys/fs//cgroup/cpu; cpuacct = /sys/fs/cgroup/cpuacct; devices = /sys/fs/cgroup/devices; memory = /sys/fs/cgroup/memory; freezer = /sys/fs/cgroup/freezer; } What if I want to use LXC on the same machine and one container's config contains something like this: lxc.cgroup.cpuset.cpus = 1 Container will not start, because this cgroup type is not mounted by default with cgroup-bin package. I think, the best way to fix this is to mount available cgroup fsystems via upstart job (the way cgroup-lite does it). Another way is to change default /etc/cgconfig.conf (add mountpoints). But I would prefer the first solution (it's kernel independent). 3. After all these I'm asking you what is the reason of separation cgroup-bin and cgroup-lite into different packages. Why not to just disable cgrulesengd, cgconfigparser by default (using /etc/default somehow)? For example, if I'm using LXC, I will likely be using cgget/cgset or something. And even if won't be using it what's wrong with that these binaries are in my /usr/bin (100Kb)? P.S. cgconfig.conf : cpu = /sys/fs//cgroup/cpu; I believe double slashes isn't needed here. Thanks, hope it'll be fixed in LTS. ** Affects: libcgroup (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libcgroup in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995956 Title: cgconfig upstart job should start earlier and mount all available cgroup types by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libcgroup/+bug/995956/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

At the moment i've no Ubuntu 12.04 Testmachine at hand. ASAP I'll try your suggestions. But I don't think, that this is the problem. [Bug 995861] [NEW] package squid3 3.1.19-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Public bug reported: Upgraded to Ubuntu 12.03 to find that squid was replaced by squid3. Squid has a different config file in /etc/squid3/squid.conf were as the old Squid was /etc/squid/squid.conf. Tried copying my old squid.conf overwriting squid3's squid.conf and apparently not compatible. :( I have my old config file still but it is useless to me until I can get the squid.conf to work with the new squid3.
