[Bug 1007837] [NEW] package samba 2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 128
Public bug reported: This happened after a fresh install of Mythbuntu v.25 onto a clean harddrive. The Ubuntu 12.04 Update Manager advised of many programs requiring update, nearly 100. Four of these were updates to Samba packages. Functionality of original Samba install was not assessed since the Update Manager indicated an update was needed immediately after first boot. Upgrade was allowed to proceed for all. Download of all packages succeeded and installation progresses until samba-common packages. At this point, installation appears to hang, for hours. This warning of a problem appears after system reboot. After another fresh install, the four samba packages were excluded from list and Update Manager completed without problems. After another reboot, UM advised that the four samba packages required update. Update for these proceeded and once again hung when installing the samba-common packages. Re: [Bug 1007433] Re: circular dependency causes zookeeperd to not be running after installation of zookeeperd
Excerpts from Raphaël Hertzog's message of 2012-06-02 06:25:02 UTC: Clint, where do you see a *circular* dependency? The dependencies that you show are not circular. Also the ordering of package installation is decided by apt and not dpkg, so this is an apt bug if any. I don't necessarily see a circular dependency, but it doesn't make sense that in this case we see default-jre-headless configured *before* its dependency, openjdk-7-jre-headless. This leads to zookeeper being configured before openjdk-7-jre-headless as well, which then leads to a missing /usr/bin/java. [Bug 1006509] Re: Please merge from debian autofs 5.0.6-2
autofs (5.0.6-2) unstable; urgency=low . [Dmitry Smirnov] * minor update to 'manpages.patch' (Closes: #603092) * added VCS links . [Michael Tokarev] * conffile installation: - do no ship /etc/default/autofs (Closes: #673796) - install /etc/init.d/autofs manually (dh_installinit have issue finding it) - removed ugly symlinks debian/autofs.{default,init} - list bin programs and modules more explicitly in debian/*.install - transfer ucf conffile ownership from old autofs5 to autofs * removed debian/configure_override * recommend kmod|module-init-tools * ship debian/autofs.init instead of heavily patching upstream script * simplify (and fix) debian/autofs.init a bit in loading/checking modules, and use /bin/sh instead of /bin/bash * remove messing with /dev/autofs misc device in initscript, it is managed by udev or devtmpfs * remove (now unused) USE_MISC_DEVICE definition from default/autofs too * do not check for modprobe or procfs in configure, since module loading is ifdef'ed out in the code, and #ifdef the missing parts too (do-not-check-for-modprobe-procfs-or-load-module.patch) * always define standard program paths when building even if the corresponding utility isn't installed (e2fsck, mount, mount.nfs). There is no need to check presence of standard utilities or verify their standard abilities. * also define other paths explicitly instead of relying on a config-time search - the build will be wrong if some directory (eg, /etc/sysconfig) will be present during configure time. * autoreconf and clean autoconf-generated files, FTBFS (Closes: #674391) This still does not make quilt patches easily revertable, since we don't save old configure and upstream changes patches configure to, so once regenerated by autoreconf, it will be different. * do not use $DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH in debian/rules without setting it * two patches: debian/patches/link-daemon-with-lpthread.patch debian/patches/save-hesiod-libs-correctly.patch to fix gold/-Wl,-no-as-needed FTBFS. * remove individual upstream patches from debian/patches and replace them with single autofs-5.0.6-upstream-git.patch - all upstream commits in master branch since release_5_0_6 tag. Update this patch to include all current fixes too (up to 2012-06-01). * added debian/TODO file -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to autofs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006509 Title: Please merge from debian autofs 5.0.6-2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1006509/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 998712] Re: dnsmasq integration into name resolution broken
I'd just like to note here before leaving this issue that the submitter originally said that he was running bind. If bind was set up to listen on 127.0.0.1#53 but was not correctly set up to provide name service then I imagine that this could have interfered with the NM-controlled dnsmasq. Exploring this possibility would have required cooperation by the submitter, but, unfortunately, the submitter is no longer willing to cooperate because he lacks time and has found a workaround that he is satisfied with. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/998712 Title: dnsmasq integration into name resolution broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/998712/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 781557] Re: multiple search domains not honoured
In the absence of interest on the submitter's part in pursuing the matter, and since there seems to be no problem in either resolvconf or dnsmasq, marking Invalid. ** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781557 Title: multiple search domains not honoured To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/781557/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
