2012-07-21 Thread hamishcarpenter
The fix in Comment #5 worked for me; adding 'use client driver = yes'
under the [printers] section of /etc/samba/smb.conf

Same situation as OP: Ubuntu 11.10 upgrades to 12.04.
Windows client: Windows XP

2012-07-21 Thread hamishcarpenter
Please also see Bug 990388 which has similar symptons (cannot print from
windows to linux after upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04).

The resolution there is about allowing windows client drivers, see
comment #5.

Apologies if this isn't the right way to relate bugs, I'm new to
launchpad.

[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql

2012-07-21 Thread Mark Goldenstein
Dario, thanks for classifying my comment as not helpful at all.

Let me reiterate. I'm using Postfix to authenticate via saslauthd
against LDAP (not MySQL) and thus I can't apply the mentioned
configuration fix. Since the upgrade I was getting the same error: SASL
LOGIN authentication failed: no mechanism available.

The only fix I've found to be working was downgrading SASL as mentioned
above. I also needed to recompile / relink (whatever you call it) slapd
since it was broken by the sasl downgrade.

[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql

2012-07-21 Thread Dario Nuevo
Hi Mark

Well, I didn't mean that personally, hope it didn't come across the wrong way..
sorry!
The main problem is that this bug is about postfix - sasl - mysql, bringing
ldap into it makes this one harder to solve.

Anyway - you didn't post your configuration file - did you fiddle around
with the config file? It really seems that the newer sasl versions just
require a different configuration.

Your error
 Jun 25 15:26:59 slapd[6358]: slap_sasl_init: auxprop add plugin failed
suggests that it can't find the auxprop plugin - maybe the name of the plugin
also changed (as mysql changed to sql) or it requires new parameters?

As I see the name should be ldapdb, you can review the parameters
here: http://cyrusimap.web.cmu.edu/docs/cyrus-sasl/2.1.25/options.php

And if it's really broken (confirmed), you should open a new bug which
is purely postfix - sasl - ldap related.

[Bug 1027418] [NEW] Functions from upstream missing in package

2012-07-21 Thread Eric Anderson
Public bug reported:

The libkrb5 package in 12.04 looks like it's missing some functions.
That sounds weird, so let me explain:

I have the following packages installed:
$ dpkg-query -l 'libkrb*'
[snip]
ii libkrb5-26-heimdal1.6~git20120311.dfsg.1-2 Heimdal Kerberos -
libraries
ii libkrb5-3 1.10+dfsg~beta1-2 MIT Kerberos runtime
libraries
ii libkrb5-dev 1.10+dfsg~beta1-2 Headers and development
libraries for MIT Kerberos
ii libkrb5support0 1.10+dfsg~beta1-2 MIT Kerberos runtime
libraries - Support library

The functions 'krb5_cccol_lock' and 'krb5_cccol_unlock' are declared
in /usr/include/krb5/krb5.h, from libkrb5-dev. When I try to use them
in a program that links against libkrb5, I get an undefined symbol
error at run time. I've looked at every .so file defined in any of
those packages (using nm and nm -D), and those symbols aren't mentioned
in any of those files!

When I build krb5-1.10.2 from the MIT source, those symbols are defined
in libkrb5.so.3.3.

Does anyone have any idea what's up?

[Bug 869684] Re: 530 login incorrect error after upgrade

2012-07-21 Thread Anton Georg Mückl
Hello All,

as stated in bug #992578 I continue here to add my findings.

Uncommenting the line
#authrequiredpam_shells.so

in the file /etc/pam.d/vsftpd just made the error message lines in
/var/log/auth.log disappear:
vsftpd: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_shells.so): /lib/security/pam_shells.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
vsftpd: PAM adding faulty module: pam_shells.so

but a local user could not login.

Also just installing vsftpd again like

# apt-get remove vsftpd
# rm /etc/pam.d/vsftpd
# apt-get install vsftpd

did NOT work.

On my fresh installation the state of the pam_shells.so is as follows:

/lib/security/pam_shells.so does not exist
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/security/pam_shells.so does exist

Only removing (i.e. renaming) /etc/pam.d/vsftpd worked for me, too (as
mentioned in bug #992578)

The contents of the log files were:

root@develop:/etc/pam.d# tail /var/log/auth.log

[Bug 1027538] [NEW] Bad handle of # for comments in munin-node config file

Found this problem using a # in a password for Mysql user root with a config
file containing things like that :
[mysql*]

env.mysqlopts --defaults-file=/etc/mysql/debian.cnf
env.mysqluser root
env.mysqlpassword test#test

Searching in the code, I've solved the problem (for me) changing line 96 of
