[Bug 1025066] Re: package winbind 2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-08-03 Thread Nicholas Audette
I purged samba4 and winbind, then re-installed winbind. However, wine
failed to start. I then purged and reinstalled wine without any errors.
I believe the samba4 package may have somehow corrupted winbind upon its
installation, so by the time I tried to install wine I got the error.
Thanks for the help.

[Bug 1026680] Re: bacula director crashing whole system

2012-08-03 Thread Thomas Schweikle
I did a few additional tests now. Some results:

1. I've installed bacula on a newly set up system (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS), with an
empty database: works as expected.
2. I've installed bacula on a newly set up system (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS), with an
empty database: works as expected.
3. I've installed bacula on a newly set up system (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS), then
imported an old bacula database:
exausts message about wrong database. After migrating the database works as
expected.
4. I've installed bacula on a newly set up system (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS), then
imported an old bacula database:
works as expected. Then migrated to Ubuntu 10.10, 11.04, 11.10: works as
expected. Then migrated to
Ubuntu 12.04: crashes after accessing the database to start a backup.
5. I've installed bacula on a newly set up system (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS), then
imported an old bacula database:
works as expected. Then migrated to Ubuntu 10.10, 11.04, 11.10: works as
expected. Then migrated to
Ubuntu 12.04. Wiped the database, then imported an old one, then migrated the
database as described
on the bacula pages: works as expected.
6. I've installed bacula on a newly set up Ubuntu 10.04, then imported an old
database: works as expected.
Next thing done was migrating to 10.10, 11.04, 11.10. Testing after every
migration. Each time it worked
as expected. After migrating to 12.04 bacula crashed (what I awaited). Now I
tried to migrate the database
as described on the bacula web site. This time without success: various error
messages, then one stating
the database allready where migrated and nothing changed.

For me it looks a lot like migrating to Ubuntu 12.04, changing bacula from
5.0.x to 5.2.x breaks the
database, forcing bacula to crash. I did not look at what exactly causes bacula
to crash only trying to
replicate the path I had taken leading to this crash.

[Bug 1025066] Re: package winbind 2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-08-03 Thread Clint Byrum
Nicholas, if you aren't using samba4, perhaps try purging it and all of
its configuration. Make sure you backup all of your configuration files
and then run.

sudo apt-get purge samba4 winbind

And then try to re-install wine and winbind.

[Bug 659376] Re: mibs absent from maverick

2012-08-03 Thread Tyler Wagner
The above behaviour persists up to precise. I can see that the mibdirs
include the locations where download-mibs puts them:

root@precise:~# net-snmp-config --default-mibdirs
/root/.snmp/mibs:/usr/share/mibs/site:/usr/share/snmp/mibs:/usr/share/mibs/iana:/usr/share/mibs/ietf:/usr/share/mibs/netsnmp

root@precise:~# ls -l /usr/share/mibs
total 12
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   18 Jun  7  2010 iana -> /var/lib/mibs/iana
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   18 Jun  7  2010 ietf -> /var/lib/mibs/ietf
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 May 23 23:12 netsnmp

IE, the location is not "broken", as Net-SNMP will follow the mibdirs
variable.

This should be closed as Not a Bug.

[Bug 1029977] Re: dnsmasq-base should ship the dnsmasq dbus configuration file

2012-08-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
** Description changed:

+ [Rationale]
+ Required for network-manager SRU for bug 1004775:
+ To properly handle updating DNS nameservers in the dnsmasq instance spawned
by NetworkManager; it would require starting dnsmasq with dbus enabled so that
all future dns changes could be done through that API. Unfortunately, dnsmasq
currently ships the dbus configuration file along with an init script as part
of the 'dnsmasq' package; which, when installed and improperly configured can
conflict with the dnsmasq instance used by network-manager. Furthermore, the
additional files provided by 'dnsmasq' are not required. Moving the dbus config
file from 'dnsmasq' to 'dnsmasq-base' allows users of the standalone binary to
start dnsmasq with dbus enabled without requiring the additional installation
of the 'dnsmasq' package and the init script and other configuration files it
provides.
+
  [Test case]
Requirements: the 'dnsmasq-base' package must be installed; the 'dnsmasq'
package must *NOT* be installed.
  1) Start a terminal
  2) sudo stop network-manager # network-manager interferes with the test,
since it starts dnsmasq.
  2) Attempt to start dnsmasq with the following command:
  'sudo dnsmasq --enable-dbus'

Without the file shipped with dnsmasq-base:
dnsmasq: Erreur DBus : Connection ":1.64" is not allowed to own the service
"uk.org.thekelleys.dnsmasq" due to security policies in the configuration file

With the file; dnsmasq should start successfully.

Other instances may interfere with the test case; if you get an error
such as "address already in use"; first kill off other running instances
  of dnsmasq.

+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal; would have to be misexecution of the patch; through an error in the
packaging (ie. incorrect package dependencies) could cause dnsmasq to refuse to
start with --enable-dbus. That function isn't used by any of the packages we
ship by default at this point.
+
  ---

/etc/dbus-1/system.d/dnsmasq.conf is currently being shipped by
'dnsmasq'. However, other users of the dnsmasq binary as a standalone
binary (e.g. those packages that depend on 'dnsmasq-base' and not
'dnsmasq') may want to use dnsmasq with --enable-dbus. This requires the
above config file; otherwise the name can't be owned by dnsmasq and DBus
  messages will fail.

dnsmasq-base should ship the file along with the dnsmasq binary; all
other arch-indep files from dnsmasq can stay where they are.

This is not a package bug.

adduser: Ya existe el usuario `clamav'. Saliendo.

That means you have a non-system clamav user. You need to remove it.
Doing:

remove the user as a follow-up in this question.

[Bug 1032550] Re: [multipath] failed to get sysfs information

2012-08-03 Thread Peter Petrakis
@Vincent

Could you please attach the syslog associated with this fault?
How reproducible is this?

Also I noticed that your lvm.conf is a little broken.
scan = [ "/dev" ]
...
filter = [ "r/block/", "r/disk/", "r|/dev/sd.*|", "a/.*/" ]

Since the scan starts in /dev, that's the root of the search, specifying
"r|/dev/sd.*|" won't match anything, instead you want "r|sd.*|".

vgscan -vvv will show you the regexp working.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.
