[Bug 997978] Re: KVM images lose connectivity with bridged network

2012-08-31 Thread Gustave Hellman
I am also seeing the problem on our Ganeti managed KVM under Ubuntu
12.04. In our case on those servers with higher network load,
connectivity to the guest is lost but may take one to two days. The
one server with low network traffic has never lost connectivity.

By the way the loss of connectivity problem does not happen with 12.04
guests running on 11.10 containers.

I have patched to the current levels but still see the problem. The kvm
package installed is;
kvm 1:84+dfsg-0ubuntu16+1.0+noroms+0ubuntu14.1

Is there something else I should be looking for?

Thanks

[Bug 522509] Re: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot

2012-08-31 Thread Mark Favas
I have the same problem on 12.04.1 with tftpd-hpa version 5.2-1ubuntu1.

I have a single interface, eth0, which gets its address via DHCP. On
boot, tftpd-hpa fails to start with the "cannot resolve local IPv4 bind
address:0.0.0.0".

"sudo status tftpd-hpa" returns "tftpd-hpa start/running", but with no
"process " reported.

"sudo restart tftpd-hpa" successfully restarts the daemon, and now "sudo
status tftpd-hpa" returns "tftpd-hpa start/running, process 16083".

[Bug 1041120] Re: Meta bug for tracking Openstack Stable Updates

2012-08-31 Thread Adam Gandelman
Please find the attached test log from the Ubuntu Server Team's CI
infrastructure. As part of the verification process for this bug, the
OpenStack components have been deployed and configured across multiple
nodes using precise-proposed as an installation source. After successful
bring-up and configuration of the cluster, a number of exercises and
smoke tests have be invoked to ensure the updated package did not
introduce any regressions. A number of test iterations were carried out
to catch any possible transient errors.

Please note the list of installed packages at the top and bottom of the
report.

For records of upstream test coverage of this update, please see the
individual bug reports.

As per the provisional Micro Release Exception granted to this package
by the Technical Board, we hope this contributes toward verification of
this update.

[Bug 1044553] [NEW] 'password' setting broken by usergroup changes

2012-08-31 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

I've posted this little snippet of cloud-config syntax different places:
  #cloud-config
  password: passw0rd
  chpasswd: { expire: False }
  ssh_pwauth: True

And I'd like for it to continue to work. It was broken by the user-
group changes and currently gives a stack trace in the cc_set_passwords
module. That exception also breaks the 'ssh_pwauth'.

basically, I think we should do the following:

 * if 'password' appears in cloud-config, then apply it to the 'default' user
if that user does not have a password set.
 * if there is no default user, just complain (log warn) and do not do anything.

2012-08-31 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for the feedback.

I've looked through the commit log and found no obvious single or group
of commits which would solve this.

We could talk about backporting the quantal packages into precise -
however the quantal packages do appear to also bring in their own
regressions, for instance bug 1040033.

Let's see if the packages also fix it for Gary.

[Bug 1039166] Re: high use of resource

2012-08-31 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hi Fabio,

so then it sounds like it may be working fine. Once the VM is
installed, does performance become more tolerable? What sort of backing
store do you have - are you using an ecryptfs encrypted home directory?
Keeping a KVM backign store in an encrypted home directory could
certainly slow things down.

[Bug 1044516] [NEW] repquota not working correctly with xfs

2012-08-31 Thread Chris J Arges
Public bug reported:

Description of the problem:

The command 'repquota' is not working properly with an XFS file system
on 12.04 and later. It only reports root's quota. The same command
worked well with 10.04, and the other quota commands (xfs_quota) seem to
work properly as well.

Version affected: 12.04 LTS:

ii quota 4.00-3 implementation of the disk quota system
ii xfsprogs 3.1.7 Utilities for managing the XFS filesystem

How reproducible is the problem? Always.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Create a XFS partition.
2. Create an entry in fstab such as:

/dev/vdb1 /mnt xfs defaults,usrquota,grpquota 1 1

3. Run and compare the output of the following commands on 10.04 LTS ,
12.04 LTS and 12.10.

$ sudo mount /mnt
$ sudo mkdir -p /mnt/test
$ sudo chown $USER:$GROUP /mnt/test
$ sudo repquota /mnt
$ sudo xfs_quota -x -c report /mnt

This appears to be a regression.

So we can't backport because of the version string check in

If this gets fixed, then backporting will be possible.

[Bug 1044430] [NEW] Php ftp_* eats memory

2012-08-31 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi!

Today i write a small "Transport"-Class for my web deployment-System.
Its a php-Script "behind" apache2 where i can post json_arrays to and
the deployserver than starts to get git-Repository, check files and
deploy them by ftp, ftps and so on.

I wonmder about memory usage when in transfer big projects
(typo3-Projects for example). I use xdebug to find memory leaks and
firgure out that ftp_* Commands in php are the "memory eater".

So i write a small script that only connects to a ftp-server and ftp_put
a file 1 times and then close the connection.

Result: The memory gets lower and lower and also after ftp_close never
will be free'd. Only a restart of apache2 helps.

Ok so, this needs to be looked at. MAAS modifies the files and the
permissions end up being:

[Bug 1003842] Re: dnsmasq sometimes fails to resolve private names in networks with non-equivalent nameservers

2012-08-31 Thread Thomas Hood
I also have this problem when I use nm-dnsmasq and connect to work over
VPN.

Although there is now a /etc/NetworkManager/dnsmasq.d directory, adding
a file there with "strict-order" in it is not enough to fix the problem.
That option seems to have no effect when addresses are conveyed to
dnsmasq over D-Bus.

So I now work around the problem by commenting out "dns=dnsmasq" in
/e/NM/NM.conf.

Also, it looks like Maas has a large number of High/Critical bugs that are

more important. Wouldn't it be better to fix those now and then backport the

[Bug 1042263] Re: Error with special characters in users passwords

2012-08-31 Thread Guillaume Hilt
Ok, it's not ubuntu/server related.

With Chrome, the htaccess auth will work just fine with accentued characters in
the password field.
With Firefox (14 and superior) it won't work.
With IE9, it won't work either.

What could be causing this problem ?
Would this still be related to mod-auth-mysql in any way ?

[Bug 1044351] [NEW] upgrade from lucid to precise removes most of my gsm sound files

2012-08-31 Thread Nick Moffitt
Public bug reported:

One of our PBXes uses the files in /usr/share/asterisk/*.gsm to provide
user feedback. When we upgraded from lucid to precise, many of these
files simply vanished!

 -- Executing [s@macro-agentauth:2] BackGround("SIP/gubble-0242",

As a result, the users heard silence and didn't know what to do. I
worked around this by grabbing /usr/share/asterisk/sounds/please-enter-
the.gsm (and other files) from another system's lucid asterisk install
and simply copying them into place on the precise server.

What package owns these files, now? How do I keep using packaged
versions of them? I can't seem to find an appropriate package in
precise that would hold these.
