[Bug 991308] Re: Dnsmasq fails to resolve if any upstream nameserver is unreachable

2012-09-15 Thread Thomas Hood
Returning to this issue

Consider the log in comment #10. A successful lookup is done.

 Jun 22 13:43:09 archon dnsmasq[9635]: query[A] slashdot.org from 127.0.0.1
 Jun 22 13:43:09 archon dnsmasq[9635]: forwarded slashdot.org to 75.75.75.75
 Jun 22 13:43:09 archon dnsmasq[9635]: reply slashdot.org is 216.34.181.45

Later an unsuccessful one is done.

 Jun 22 13:46:00 archon dnsmasq[9814]: query[A] gmail.com from 127.0.0.1
 Jun 22 13:46:00 archon dnsmasq[9814]: forwarded gmail.com to 75.75.75.75
 Jun 22 13:46:00 archon dnsmasq[9814]: forwarded gmail.com to 75.75.76.76

It looks as if *both* nameservers are failing to respond in the latter
case.

It was originally reported that one out of four queries fails. This is
the failure frequency one would get if each nameserver failed half the
time and the servers fail independently of each other. William reported
in comment #6 that one of the nameservers, 75.75.76.76, fails half the
time. Is it possible that the other nameserver is also failing half the
time?

More generally, William, have you learned anything new about the problem
in the past month and a half?

[Bug 1027808] Re: dnsmasq doesn't start at system startup

2012-09-15 Thread Thomas Hood
@Thomas: Nice to hear. Probably your standalone dnsmasq was conflicting
with the dnsmasq process controlled by NetworkManager --- both were
trying to bind 127.0.0.1. Now NM-dnsmasq binds 127.0.1.1 instead, so
there is no longer a conflict.

Please upgrade network-manager to 0.9.6.0-0ubuntu7 and dnsmasq to
2.63-1ubuntu1 and see if the problem is still fixed. ;)

[Bug 1042275] Re: dnsmasq should not register 127.0.0.1 with resolvconf if it's not listening on lo

2012-09-15 Thread Thomas Hood
Currently it's the initscript that talks to resolvconf. If we want the
initscript to implement the behavior requested here (i.e., register
127.0.0.1 with resolvconf if and only if dnsmasq is listening on lo)
then the initscript will have to understand dnsmasq's configuration
files. That's asking too much from an initscript.

Dnsmasq should be enhanced so that the dnsmasq process talks to
resolvconf. The process knows whether or not it's listening on the
loopback address.

Furthermore, the process knows exactly which addresses it's binding; so
if it's listening on 127.0.0.2 it can register 127.0.0.2 with
resolvconf. Nice.

Furthermore, the process knows when it has been terminated, even if it's
not the initscript that's sent the signal, so it can de-register its
listen address with resolvconf. Nice.

[Bug 995079] Re: Internal server error when accessing nova/instances_and_volumes/ via horizon

2012-09-15 Thread Davide Guerri
Solved (at least in my case): I've got glance running on https and in
the horizon glance-client code the URI scheme was ignored.

I guess in the previos version of python-django-horizon package that
code was different...

Please find attached a (very trivial) patch for this issue.

[Bug 1044837] Re: vmbuilder should accept an empty destination directory

2012-09-15 Thread Tokuko
Sorry for the unclear description of the bug.
The manpage says:
   -o, --overwrite
Force overwrite of destination directory if it already exist.
[default: False]
But apparently vmbuilder does not overwrite it. It tries to delete it (which
fails with mountpoints) and then recreates it, that's a different action.
Why go through the hassle of deleting and recreating it if you can just dump in
any file by any name, since you got the permission from the admin that
everything in there can be overwritten?
Another point: If I know what files are going to be created (*.qcow2 by
default), then I expect to be able to create some files in there if I know that
the names do not conflict. Currently these files will be lost for no reason
that I see.
I just see no reason for removing the directory beforehand, as this can cause
errors like I have gotten. And it counteracts the use of mountpoints whereever
you want.

The reason that I do not use /srv/kvm/mysql/mysql is that /srv/kvm is a big
filesystem already containing severall VM disk images which are following
/srv/kvm/*/*.qcow2. Adding a subdirectory here would require me to migrate all
other VMs to ensure that the same mask works for all VM disk images.
To avoid that I currently install the VMs to a subdirectory and move the files
afterwards, which requires me to edit the domain config, of course. I consider
that unnecessary, if vmbuilder would accept -o as just dump anything you
want into that directory. if something does not work (due to permissions or
other issues), blame the admin and let him clean up the mess.

[Bug 1048008] Re: tgt needs restart to find LUN

2012-09-15 Thread Dave Gilbert
Hi James,
I agree it's likely to be an lvm/udev race; some observations:
 1) It doesn't seem to happen with files
 2) With lvm, It doesn't always happen if the guest is configured with a
single core; most of the time but not always
 3) With lvm it seems to happen (almost?) always when the guest has
multiple cores.

output of tgtadm as requested:

[Bug 522509] Re: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot

2012-09-15 Thread Bambang Pranoto
I also have the same problem on 12.04.1.

My workaround is putting a new script /etc/network/if-up.d/tftpd-hpa
which contains:

#!/bin/sh
restart tftpd-hpa

Of course don't forget to chmod 755 the script.
