[Bug 1134103] [NEW] openvswitch-switch: log flooded with cannot get STP status on nonexistent port messages
Public bug reported: When using Xen and OVS a log flood occurs (approx 10 entries /s) when using stubdom based HVM guests with PV drivers. This issue was reported to the OVS developers (http://openvswitch.org/pipermail/dev/2013-February/025586.html) and a fix was merged for the 1.4.6 release. [Bug 1115053] Re: Multiple open vulnerabilities in tomcat7 in 12.04 and 11.10
I updated the DEP-3 comments according to your input. I hope it's easier now to understand the patches I made. For some patches I didn't find the according upstream bugs so I left them out. As far as I see is the Bug- field optional. The testsuite additions are now included. I got one error (failure in TestAsyncContextImpl) when I run the tests. However I could not determine the error to any changes of my patch. I ran the tests in a VM and wondering if that might cause the problem. Let me know if there are some further problems. Thanks. ** Patch added: lp1115053-oneiric-3.debdiff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomcat7/+bug/1115053/+attachment/3549166/+files/lp1115053-oneiric-3.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat7 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1115053 Title: Multiple open vulnerabilities in tomcat7 in 12.04 and 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomcat7/+bug/1115053/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I've moved this to 'low' on vm-builder, and made it affect grub2 in ubuntu. Hopefully cjwatson can tell me if I'm wrong. Generally, though, grub-pc and grub conflict with each other, so the state you got (with -pc uninstalled) is not terribly unreasonable. fwiw, The ubuntu cloud images uses 'grub-legacy-ec2' to manage /boot/grub/menu.lst. Ie, if you really think you need that file managed, that is one solution. [Bug 1134461] [NEW] /var/mail is real instead of symlink :: /var/spool/mail is symlink instead of real
Public bug reported: First of all, this isnt really a postfix bug, but as the Ubuntu Bugtracking system is quite horrible, i was forced to choose a package. If you look at /var/mail in Ubuntu, it is a real directoy. If we look at FHS: ---8--- /var/mail : User mailbox files (optional) Purpose The mail spool must be accessible through /var/mail and the mail spool files must take the form username. Note that /var/mail may be a symbolic link to another directory. User mailbox files in this location must be stored in the standard UNIX mailbox format. The logical location for this directory was changed from /var/spool/mail in order to bring FHS in-line with nearly every UNIX implementation. ---8--- So this directory exists for staying incompatible with other UNIX Distributions and mostly is a symlink to /var/spool/mail as it contains parts of the mail spool. So /var/spool/mail is the real directory und /var/mail was created (as optional) as an compatibility directory. On Ubuntu (and seems like on Debian too), its the other way. /var/spool/mail is just a fake symlink to /var/mail. The /var/spool/mail should not be a symlink to an optional directory! Spool-Files belong to /var/spool, not /var/mail and /var/spool/mail just getting a symlink to that is just wrong. /var/mail is the optional directory which exists for compatibility reason and mostly is just a symlink /var/spool/mail is the real thing! ---8--- user@host:~$ file /var/spool/mail /var/spool/mail: symbolic link to `../mail' ---8--- thats just wrong! [Bug 1124384] Re: reload-configuration can confuse upstart
** Description changed: Under bug 1080841 we made cloud-init invoke 'initctl reload- configuration' after it wrote a upstart job. This was necessary because inotify is not supported on all filesystems (overlayfs being the one of most current interst). This seems to be causing upstart some pain, and resulting in cloud-final (and 'rc') not being run. Easy user-data to reproduce the problem is: #cloud-config-archive - content: | +#boothook #!/bin/sh -echo $(date -R): user-script run === | tee /run/user-script.log +touch /run/cloud-init-upstart-reload # hack, see trunk commit 783 - content: | -#upstart-job -description a test upstart job -start on stopped rc RUNLEVEL=[2345] -console output -task -script -echo $(date -R): upstart job run === | tee /run/upstart-job.log -end script + #!/bin/sh + echo $(date -R): user-script run === | tee /run/user-script.log + - content: | + #upstart-job + description a test upstart job + start on stopped rc RUNLEVEL=[2345] + console output + task + script + echo $(date -R): upstart job run === | tee /run/upstart-job.log + end script You should (and do on quantal) end up with 2 files written to /run. I've verified that the same behavior is true on quantal. If you change cloud-init to notify upstart about a job immediately after it writes it, then quantal's upstart gets confused also. Is there any danger of the rc2.d restarting ntp before if-up.d/ntpdate script gets done starting ntpdate, causing ntpdate to fail? Since we know that if-up.d/ntpdate will eventually start ntp, we could define a transient 'ntp-will-start' upstart job. Have if-up.d/ntpdate start ntp-will-start, stop ntp, do it's thing, stop ntp-will-start, then start ntp. [Bug 1134923] [NEW] Running a lot of lxc-execute processes concurrently causes defunct processes, hangs forever
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: Description:Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release:12.04 lxc version: lxc: Installed: 0.7.5-3ubuntu66 Candidate: 0.7.5-3ubuntu66 Version table: *** 0.7.5-3ubuntu66 0 500 http://us-east-1.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.7.5-3ubuntu52 0 500 http://us-east-1.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/universe amd64 Packages Expected: Expected it to work as normal, not hang. What happened instead: This is pretty easy to reproduce by running a bunch of processes (5 is fine to reproduce) that continuously execute very short lxc-execute processes (less than a second). Here is a log from the process calling lxc-execute: Feb 27 12:54:30 Running now: lxc-execute -n vm16946 -f /mnt/vm16946/lxc.conf -- sh /task/.runtask Feb 27 12:54:30 Command executed, starting to read streams Feb 27 12:54:30 out: hello That's it, never exits/finishes. The program running inside lxc is a ruby program that prints hello, that's all it does. ps -ef shows this: root 16090 16946 0 20:54 ?00:00:00 lxc-execute -n vm16946 -f /mnt/vm16946/lxc.conf -- sh /task/.runtask root 16100 16090 0 20:54 ?00:00:00 [lxc-init] defunct This never goes away and the parent process of lxc-execute hangs forever too. On a side note, this same thing running on Quantal with lxc 0.8 rc1 will make the entire machine completely unresponsive so it actually gets worse in 0.8. ** Affects: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1134923 Title: Running a lot of lxc-execute processes concurrently causes defunct processes, hangs forever To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1134923/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 942862] Re: lxc-create failure creating a lucid container in a precise host with old cache
This bug was fixed in the package lxc - 0.7.5-3ubuntu67 --- lxc (0.7.5-3ubuntu67) precise-proposed; urgency=low * Don't directly write/remove /etc/dnsmasq.d/lxc as that's causing problems when removing and reinstalling lxc. Instead have dnsmasq ship /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/lxc and create/remove a symlink in /etc/dnsmasq.d/. (LP: #1113821) * Bump debhelper dependency and add Pre-Depends on newer dpkg for above fix. * Allow the container to mount efivars on /sys/firmware/efi/efivars. efivars is automatically mounted by mountall on UEFI systems, failure to do so leads to a complete boot failure.
