[Bug 1160464] Re: Bind db.root outdated, backport only the db.root file, for LTS important to keep db.root updated
Also see bug 1090593. That addresses the issue of an old published root server IP that will stop responding in the future, causing a small (few second) delay in the one thirteenth of startups where bind will time out before it is able to bootstrap the latest root NS records from one of the other root servers. LaMont wanted to go further and backport the entire root zone file as you suggested. I remain unconvinced that there is any point, since I don't see how there will be any impact on the hints file being behind in general since it picks up the latest records from any root server it can find on startup. But LaMont is the Debian maintainer for bind and the conclusion was to go with the full backport. Subscribing and assigning LaMont, since AIUI he's already going to do this for bug 1090593. But I'll keep the bugs separate for now, since bug 1090593 is that D is out of date, this bug is that they're all out of date, and it is possible to resolve one bug without the other. ** Changed in: bind9 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: bind9 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: bind9 (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = LaMont Jones (lamont) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to bind9 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160464 Title: Bind db.root outdated, backport only the db.root file, for LTS important to keep db.root updated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9/+bug/1160464/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 832507] Re: console.log grows indefinitely
Just to brainstorm: Are any of the following possible?? 1. Correctly have libvirtd configure and manage the console log file size. Some new XML configuration for the domain.xml format could be provided to alter the behavior? How much of the libvirt code would have to change for this? 2. If #1 isn't possible, then I presume we could use libvirt's 'named pipe' console capability and attach our own daemon to do the same as #1 (where we would use said daemon to read on said pipe and restrict the output files size). Of course how does this handle restarts or daemon failures. Basically this daemon would be the ring buffer 'maintainer' while libvirt would just feed it info. 3. Use a pseudo-tty to do something similar to #2? @Michael, be interested to hear what u think. Personally I think the libvirtd project is where this belongs (via #1) since it already has a daemon (libvirtd) and knowledge about which instances are active, console config, and such. I assume this hasn't been fixed in libvirt (or as a feature request). I'm not an expert on that code-base but if I had pointers perhaps that is the correct way to go about this (or its a dual-approach). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/832507 Title: console.log grows indefinitely To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/832507/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
