[Bug 1047040] Re: kvm crashed on precise - memory corruption

2013-04-01 Thread Chun-Hung Chen
Recently I also encounter this issue. I am running reboot stress test
with ubuntu desktop. After 2xxx times, the VM shutdown then reboot to
have the same memory corruption information in qemu.log. It also causes
my libvirt responds wierd. After kill the VM, libvirtd works well.

[Bug 1160464] Re: Bind db.root outdated, backport only the db.root file, for LTS important to keep db.root updated

2013-04-01 Thread Robie Basak
Also see bug 1090593.

That addresses the issue of an old published root server IP that will
stop responding in the future, causing a small (few second) delay in the
one thirteenth of startups where bind will time out before it is able to
bootstrap the latest root NS records from one of the other root servers.

LaMont wanted to go further and backport the entire root zone file as
you suggested. I remain unconvinced that there is any point, since I
don't see how there will be any impact on the hints file being behind in
general since it picks up the latest records from any root server it can
find on startup. But LaMont is the Debian maintainer for bind and the
conclusion was to go with the full backport.

Subscribing and assigning LaMont, since AIUI he's already going to do
this for bug 1090593. But I'll keep the bugs separate for now, since bug
1090593 is that D is out of date, this bug is that they're all out of
date, and it is possible to resolve one bug without the other.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

Thanks for linking to the Debian bug. According to the discussion there,
this is a bug in openssl and not in bind9. It seems likely to me that
this will not get fixed in Ubuntu until it is fixed in Debian.

[Bug 1115053] Re: Multiple open vulnerabilities in tomcat7 in 12.04 and 11.10

Thanks for your debdiff for Ubuntu 12.04. I verified it against upstream
and it looks good. The build log looks fine and after several runs
through the testsuite, I've noted the intermittent tests in QRT (this
took a while and was a bit frustrating). Uploading to the security PPA
now. While publish when it is done building.

[Bug 1162999] [NEW] PHP should be updated in 12.04.1 LTS, as 5.3.10 has a regression

2013-04-01 Thread Joel Bradshaw
Public bug reported:

PHP 5.3.10 (Ubuntu package version 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.6) has a regression
that breaks the stream_get_line() function, as documented at
https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=60817

This is critical in some applications - in my case, it breaks the PHP
beanstalkd client I use. As mentioned in the PHP bug above, it was
fixed in the next version, PHP 5.3.11. I'm not sure of the package
update policies, but if this could be upgraded in one of the precise
repos, it would save many people pain who upgrade from an older LTS to
the current one and find their PHP apps broken.

Thanks Brian, I've installed the winbind, libpam-winbind, libwbclient0,
samba-common, smbclient packages (3.6.3-2ubuntu2.5) from proposed.

I'll keep you posted. It might take a week or two before I'm confident
they are working correctly.

[Bug 832507] Re: console.log grows indefinitely

2013-04-01 Thread Joshua Harlow
Just to brainstorm:

Are any of the following possible??

1. Correctly have libvirtd configure and manage the console log file size. Some
new XML configuration for the domain.xml format could be provided to alter the
behavior? How much of the libvirt code would have to change for this?
2. If #1 isn't possible, then I presume we could use libvirt's 'named pipe'
console capability and attach our own daemon to do the same as #1 (where we
would use said daemon to read on said pipe and restrict the output files size).
Of course how does this handle restarts or daemon failures. Basically this
daemon would be the ring buffer 'maintainer' while libvirt would just feed it
info.
3. Use a pseudo-tty to do something similar to #2?

@Michael, be interested to hear what u think. Personally I think the
libvirtd project is where this belongs (via #1) since it already has a
daemon (libvirtd) and knowledge about which instances are active,
console config, and such. I assume this hasn't been fixed in libvirt (or
as a feature request). I'm not an expert on that code-base but if I had
pointers perhaps that is the correct way to go about this (or its a
dual-approach).

[Bug 911753] Re: Wrong directive in config file cause server to crash

2013-04-01 Thread Firat Sarlar
Something similar has happened to me, I'm still trying to recover my EC2
instance ..

In Upstart config file ,
instead of

-- exec /usr/sbin/sshd -D

inside scricpt block
doing a config test with -t parameter
and revert to a backup config like /etc/ssh/sshd_config.bk if config test
fails
could save someone from trouble..

++
script

if [ $(/usr/sbin/sshd -t 21) !=  ]; then
exec /usr/sbin/sshd -D -f /etc/ssh/sshd_config.bk
else
exec /usr/sbin/sshd -D
fi

end script
