[Bug 1185261] [NEW] MaaS nodes being enlisted with multiple network cards fail to commission

2013-05-28 Thread Eric Frost
Public bug reported:

Allowing MaaS to do it's own DHCP/DNS but isolating it onto its own
network segment and having nodes with two network interfaces (one
interface connected to the network segment the Maas controllers are on
and the second interface connected to another (different) network
segment that has external internet access) results in failure to
commission nodes properly.

The nodes correctly start up, contact the server, boot and
sit...eventually printing various apt-get error messages about being
unable to connect to external sites before ultimately powering off and
changing the state on the Nodes page from commissioning to ready. It
seems that only one interface is being brought up (the one that
contacted the MaaS controller) and the other one is ignored.

This was tested on a fresh 12.04.2 server install and using the MaaS
stable PPA package version 1.2+bzr1373+dfsg-0ubuntu1~12.04.1~ppa1.

Lookin like we are running our builds with trunk python-glanceclient
(0.9.27) while upstream CI is pegged to the release in pypi (0.9). It
would be good if the upstream test suite supported newer versions of the

[Bug 211631] Re: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown)

2013-05-28 Thread Markus Birth
Steve, turns out, there already was such a bug report:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
manager/+bug/1066484/comments/11

Regarding the CIFS mounts: Today, I changed the "auto" cifs mounts during
startup to "noauto,user" mounts, which get mounted by my user using a script
after login. At the end of the day, the delay upon shutdown was gone.

[Bug 211631] Re: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown)

2013-05-28 Thread Steve Langasek
Markus, your screenshot shows a network-manager error:

  nm-dispatcher.action: Caught signal 15, shutting down...

This indicates that some part of NM is not being correctly guarded from
/etc/init.d/sendsigs, resulting in abnormal termination that breaks the
network connection before network filesystems are being unmounted.
Network Manager has previously been fixed for such bugs, but it seems to
have recurred.

Please file a new bug report against the network-manager package
including the screenshot and this information, and paste the number of
the new bug here.

[Bug 1185160] [NEW] no way to see what user has a node allocated

2013-05-28 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

$ maas-cli admin node read node-56745bf8-c7a3-11e2-a421-d4ae527ac129
{
"status": 6,
"macaddress_set": [
{
"resource_uri":
"/MAAS/api/1.0/nodes/node-56745bf8-c7a3-11e2-a421-d4ae527ac129/macs/00:25:90:4c:f0:34/",
"mac_address": "00:20:20:20:20:20"
},
{
"resource_uri":
"/MAAS/api/1.0/nodes/node-56745bf8-c7a3-11e2-a421-d4ae527ac129/macs/00:25:90:4c:f0:35/",
"mac_address": "00:30:30:30:30:30:
}
],
"netboot": false,
"hostname": "maas-1-08.mydomain.example.com",
"power_type": "ipmi",
"system_id": "node-56745bf8-c7a3-11e2-a421-d4ae527ac129",
"architecture": "amd64/generic",
"tag_names": [
"use-fastpath-installer"
],
"resource_uri":
"/MAAS/api/1.0/nodes/node-56745bf8-c7a3-11e2-a421-d4ae527ac129/"
}

The above shows me that this node is in status '6' (which is
"allocated"), but gives me no way to know *who* owns it. Just that it
is someone. (I can tell its not me by doing list-allocated, but its not
obvious here).

That would seem fine, and possibly a security decision, but I'm an
admin. In the web-ui I can see 'allocated to bob'.

Also, as I'm admin, I'd really like it to show me IPMI data too. Its
hardly useful to have to go to the web UI and click 3 times to see that.

[Bug 1166649] Re: Multiple open vulnerabilities in tomcat6 in quantal and raring

2013-05-28 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Thanks for the debdiff!

Since Marc just updated precise, I compared your patches to his and noticed a
few things:
 * 0016-CVE-2012-3439.patch should be renamed 0013-CVE-2012-588x.patch since
CVE-2012-3439 was split out into CVE-2012-5885, CVE-2012-5886 and CVE-2012-5887
(as mentioned in the changelog)
 * 0016-CVE-2012-3439.patch had some additional whitespace changes not in the
upstream patch
 * 0016-CVE-2012-3439.patch does not match the changes in
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/tomcat/tc6.0.x/trunk/java/org/apache/catalina/authenticator/DigestAuthenticator.java?r1=1380829&r2=1380828&pathrev=1380829.
 Specifically, your patch retains 'this.' in this chunk, but it should not (ie,
you use !this.opaque.equals):
@@ -587,7 +623,7 @@
 }

 // Validate the opaque string
-if (!this.opaque.equals(opaque)) {
+if (!opaque.equals(opaqueReceived)) {
 return false;
 }
 * 0014-CVE-2012-4431.patch has additional whitespace changes
 * 0015-CVE-2012-4534.patch has additional whitespace and typo changes
 * debian/changelog is not formatted in the normal manner, with one stanza per
CVE

It seems like you might have applied the patches by hand. If so, I
encourage you to use the 'patch' utility. At this point, since there are
now additional fixes, I think I am going to pull Marc's new patches and
where the patches differ, update the changelog, run through QRT and
publish. Thanks for your work on this!

[Bug 1184932] Re: lxc-halt --name container shuts down host [12.04 3.8 kernel]

2013-05-28 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for submitting this bug.

lxc-halt is not a command installed by the lxc package. Do you know
where you got the version of lxc you are running? Please show the
result of:

which lxc-halt
dpkg -S `which lxc-halt`

and append /etc/apt/sources.list and any /etc/apt/sources.list.d/* files
you have to this bug.

[Bug 1184892] Re: Branch is out of date

2013-05-28 Thread Barry Warsaw
So, I probably just did the stupidest thing ever, but I can't see how it
will make things worse.

I grabbed the out of date version, and the latest .dscs from unstable
and saucy and then imported them:

$ bzr branch ubuntu:mailman saucy
$ chdist apt-get sid source mailman
$ apt-get source mailman
$ cd saucy
$ bzr import-dsc ../mailman_2.1.15-1.dsc
$ bzr import-dsc ../mailman_2.1.15-1ubuntu2.dsc
$ bzr push :parent

Everything *seemed* to work okay and a subsequent `bzr branch
ubuntu:mailman` got the latest version, so I'm counting that as a
victory. :)

[Bug 485873] Re: logwatch should report apparmor events

2013-05-28 Thread Steve Beattie
This unfortunately doesn't work by default in ubuntu because the setting
for audit.conf in /usr/share/logwatch/services/ points to the 'messages'
logfile which is no longer used in ubuntu. It should either be 'syslog'
or 'kernel'.

A secondary issue is that if auditd is enabled, events will only go to
/var/log/audit/audit.log, and there doesn't appear to be a default
configuration file for that.

Thanks!
