[Bug 986973] Re: Facter bug causes puppet to hang
@Robie Basak The copy of memory.rb that you linked in your update does contain the fix (removal of "require 'thread'" etc.) I just checked out the tag 1.7.0 and found the commit (https://github.com/puppetlabs/facter/commit/9ff4453b2f0843df887ae1ec2098a4336291df0c). Note: that commit is only for memory.rb. Patching of processor.rb may also necessary. It'd be great if this were backported to the Ubuntu versions because right now it's necessary for us to maintain our own version with patched memory.rb and processor.rb. The code is also present in quantal and raring (facter 1.6.9), although I cannot say if this bug also affects those distributions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to facter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986973 Title: Facter bug causes puppet to hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/facter/+bug/986973/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 986973] Re: Facter bug causes puppet to become a zombie
@Chris Abbey Thanks for pointing this out. I can't seem to find any corresponding commit related to a fix in 1.7.0 though. I'm looking at https://github.com/puppetlabs/facter/commits/1.7.1/lib/facter/memory.rb for example - given that the original pull request https://github.com/puppetlabs/facter/commit/15b857472a75caf9cd596c2b33d285577382293a involved a change to this file. I think I've seen this issue myself in Precise. I am running "puppet apply" from a cronjob, and it occasionally hangs, eventually consuming all available memory. I am running the whole thing via the timeout command as a workaround. I think it is reasonable to fix this in Precise if there is a simple, obviously correct fix, but I can't find anything to cherry-pick.

[Bug 1176159] Re: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2
Yeah, the problem, I realised, is that in Lucid we got the linux-ec2 packages installed right now. The plan is to change the dependency of the meta-package to change from linux-image-*-ec2 to linux- image-*-virtual (which is a generic-pae or server in fact). The problem is that ec2 kernels have a high abi number (started with 300). [Bug 1176159] Re: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2
Stefan, Is there a reason to do this differently than in raring? Basically, in raring we just added something like this: + *-generic) + # Starting with 12.10, -virtual was merged into -generic + dpkg --compare-versions ${ver_flavor%-generic} ge 3.4.0-3 && return 0;; to the is_xen code. That code is dumber (and less flexible) than it could be by design. Originally, the list of "xen kernels" was created based on presense of CONFIG_XEN_PRIVILEGED_GUEST=y in the boot config. However, there were kernels (the -server in lucid, for example) that had that setting, but did not actually support booting on EC2. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176159 Title: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1176159/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1189926] [NEW] data corruption in storage attached to VM using KVM
Public bug reported: When using io_perf corruption can be detected when using qemu-kvm-1.0. It is expected that running the test case results in no disk corruption; however we detect corruption on Precise. [Bug 1176159] Re: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2
Scott, what would you think about this. This isn't really a backport but would seem to do what I was thinking about inside a Xen domU. That should get verified against a cloud-init deployment somewhere else (which uses grub-legacy-ec2, if this exists). The one part that could affect other places is basically the change of not having a separation between xen-kernel or not (because actually xen supported does not mean it is not usable elsewhere). ** Patch added: "First attempt of implementation" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1176159/+attachment/3700877/+files/proposal1.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176159 Title: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1176159/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
Re: [Bug 1178721] Re: multipathd fails to create mappings when multipath.conf is present
At this point I would seriously consider obtaining commercial support. This is clearly a support issue and not a bug and has been closed as invalid. LVM could have easier to grok filtering but it does work, you just have to get creative by changing the scan directory. For example: UNTESTED scan = [ "/dev/mapper"] filter = [ "a|^/dev/mapper/mpath.*|", "r/.*/" ] pvscan -vvv is your friend. Concerning your other SAN question, please seek professional support or seek forums (google) where SAN admins gather. We can't know how to configure *every single SAN on the market*. Again, LVM & multipath are distro agnostic, *any other distro doc will do*. e.g. https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en- US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/Logical_Volume_Manager_Administration/lvm_filters.html On 06/10/2013 03:33 PM, Jernej Jakob wrote: > Thank you for your help. There should be a link for 20-ldap.ini. imagick and mcrypt might have not been updated to use the new helper scripts. Anyway I have updated the php5enmod script to not fail so hard on such occasions in the Debian package, so Ubuntu packagers might want to cherry-pick the change (when I confirm the changes are correct and push them to the git repository). [Bug 1181334] Re: i386 required to install amd64
What this means is that the node's BIOS itself is not supplying an architecture on the TFTP request for a pxeconfig. MAAS needs to know what architecture it is so it can serve the right config, and if it's not supplied it defaults, not unreasonably, to i386. Since there's a workaround (you could just symlink the directory) I'm marking this low priority for now. To fix it we could try all the x86 architectures before giving up I suppose. ** Changed in: maas Importance: High => Low ** Changed in: maas (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181334 Title: i386 required to install amd64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1181334/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
