[Bug 1181334] Re: i386 required to install amd64

2013-06-11 Thread Julian Edwards
What this means is that the node's BIOS itself is not supplying an
architecture on the TFTP request for a pxeconfig. MAAS needs to know
what architecture it is so it can serve the right config, and if it's
not supplied it defaults, not unreasonably, to i386.

Since there's a workaround (you could just symlink the directory) I'm
marking this low priority for now. To fix it we could try all the x86
architectures before giving up I suppose.

I more suspect you have mangled with /etc/php5/conf.d files:

Please do:

ls -l /etc/php5/conf.d

and paste the output here.

2013-06-11 Thread Ondřej Surý
There should be a link for 20-ldap.ini.

imagick and mcrypt might have not been updated to use the new helper
scripts.

Anyway I have updated the php5enmod script to not fail so hard on such
occasions in the Debian package, so Ubuntu packagers might want to
cherry-pick the change (when I confirm the changes are correct and push
them to the git repository).

O.

Re: [Bug 1178721] Re: multipathd fails to create mappings when multipath.conf is present

2013-06-11 Thread Peter Petrakis
At this point I would seriously consider obtaining commercial support. This
is clearly a support issue and not a bug and has been closed as invalid. LVM
could
have easier to grok filtering but it does work, you just have to get creative by
changing the scan directory.

For example: UNTESTED

scan = [ "/dev/mapper"]
filter = [ "a|^/dev/mapper/mpath.*|", "r/.*/" ]

pvscan -vvv is your friend. Concerning your other SAN question, please
seek professional support or seek forums (google) where SAN admins gather.
We can't know how to configure *every single SAN on the market*.

Again, LVM & multipath are distro agnostic, *any other distro doc
will do*.

e.g. https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-
US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/Logical_Volume_Manager_Administration/lvm_filters.html

[Bug 1176159] Re: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2

2013-06-11 Thread Stefan Bader
Scott, what would you think about this. This isn't really a backport but
would seem to do what I was thinking about inside a Xen domU. That
should get verified against a cloud-init deployment somewhere else
(which uses grub-legacy-ec2, if this exists). The one part that could
affect other places is basically the change of not having a separation
between xen-kernel or not (because actually xen supported does not mean
it is not usable elsewhere).

[Bug 1189926] [NEW] data corruption in storage attached to VM using KVM

2013-06-11 Thread Chris J Arges
Public bug reported:

When using io_perf corruption can be detected when using qemu-kvm-1.0.
A test case can be downloaded here:
http://people.canonical.com/~arges/lp1189926/lnv-382.tgz
Extract the contents and run ./create-disk, then ./test-kvm to test the
currently installed KVM. Keep in mind that 100GB+ of disk is required to run
the test.

This affects the qemu-kvm version in Precise, but is fixed in Quantal
and beyond.

It is expected that running the test case results in no disk corruption;
however we detect corruption on Precise.

Running git bisect on this test finds that commit
68d100e905453ebbeea8e915f4f18a2bd4339fe8 introduced the problem between v0.15.0
and v1.0.
Running git bisect in reverse finds that commit
b7ab0fea37c15ca9e249c42c46f5c48fd1a0943c fixes the issue between v1.1.2 and
v1.2.0.

However, b7ab0fea cannot be easily backported to v1.0 and 68d100e9 is a
large change to revert. However, both changes seem to indicate that the
problem lies in the qcow2 parts of the code.

bug 1040033 seems to be a related issue.

[Bug 1176159] Re: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2

2013-06-11 Thread Scott Moser
Stefan,
  Is there a reason to do this differently than in raring?
  Basically, in raring we just added something like this:
+   *-generic)
+ # Starting with 12.10, -virtual was merged into -generic
+ dpkg --compare-versions ${ver_flavor%-generic} ge 3.4.0-3 && return
0;;

to the is_xen code.

That code is dumber (and less flexible) than it could be by design.
Originally, the list of "xen kernels" was created based on presense of
CONFIG_XEN_PRIVILEGED_GUEST=y in the boot config.

However, there were kernels (the -server in lucid, for example) that had
that setting, but did not actually support booting on EC2.

[Bug 1176159] Re: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2

2013-06-11 Thread Stefan Bader
Yeah, the problem, I realised, is that in Lucid we got the linux-ec2
packages installed right now. The plan is to change the dependency of
the meta-package to change from linux-image-*-ec2 to linux-
image-*-virtual (which is a generic-pae or server in fact). The problem
is that ec2 kernels have a high abi number (started with 300). So
looking at the versions only, the previous ec2 kernels would always be
at the head (until completely removed).

[Bug 986973] Re: Facter bug causes puppet to become a zombie

2013-06-11 Thread Robie Basak
@Chris Abbey

Thanks for pointing this out. I can't seem to find any corresponding
commit related to a fix in 1.7.0 though. I'm looking at
https://github.com/puppetlabs/facter/commits/1.7.1/lib/facter/memory.rb
for example - given that the original pull request
https://github.com/puppetlabs/facter/commit/15b857472a75caf9cd596c2b33d285577382293a
involved a change to this file.

I think I've seen this issue myself in Precise. I am running "puppet
apply" from a cronjob, and it occasionally hangs, eventually consuming
all available memory. I am running the whole thing via the timeout
command as a workaround. I think it is reasonable to fix this in Precise
if there is a simple, obviously correct fix, but I can't find anything
to cherry-pick.

[Bug 986973] Re: Facter bug causes puppet to hang

2013-06-11 Thread Jared Biel
@Robie Basak

The copy of memory.rb that you linked in your update does contain the
fix (removal of "require 'thread'" etc.) I just checked out the tag
1.7.0 and found the commit
(https://github.com/puppetlabs/facter/commit/9ff4453b2f0843df887ae1ec2098a4336291df0c).
Note: that commit is only for memory.rb. Patching of processor.rb may
also necessary.

It'd be great if this were backported to the Ubuntu versions because
right now it's necessary for us to maintain our own version with patched
memory.rb and processor.rb. The code is also present in quantal and
raring (facter 1.6.9), although I cannot say if this bug also affects
those distributions.

[Bug 504368] Re: sdl window intermittently scales instead of resizing

2013-06-11 Thread Jamin W. Collins
As requested here's a screenshot of the scaled window. The expected
behavior is that the window be resized to the dimensions of the guest.

Pressing Ctrl+Alt+u within this window corrects the issue and the window
is in fact resized to the guest dimensions.

[Bug 1188850] Re: cgrulesengd cannot process symlinked executables

2013-06-11 Thread ojab
Sorry for delay, simple testcase:

sudo cgcreate -g memory:/
sudo cgcreate -g memory:/test
echo "`whoami`:python2.7 memory test/" | sudo tee -a /etc/cgrules.conf
/usr/bin/env python -c "import time; time.sleep(2)" &
export PID=$!
sudo cgclassify $PID
grep $PID /sys/fs/cgroup/memory/{,*/}cgroup.procs

In case of fixed libcgroup output will be something like
>/sys/fs/cgroup/memory/test/cgroup.procs:5778

Right now it is
>Error in determining process name of pid 2042
>/sys/fs/cgroup/memory/sysdefault/cgroup.procs:2042
