[Bug 1206675] Re: [13.04] sudo maas createsuperuser not a valid command

2013-07-31 Thread Raphaël Badin
'createsuperuser' is a Django command ([0]) used to create an admin
user. 'createadmin' is a MAAS command, very similar to
'createsuperuser', but which lets you provide the password on the
command line (with --password). That's inherently insecure and that's
why the Django command doesn't let you do that. We added the command
'createadmin' because we needed a non-interactive command for packaging
purposes.

This is why, for interactive usage, we should prefer 'createsuperuser'
and thus I don't think the login page or the docs should be updated.

Now, the fact that "sudo maas createsuperuser" breaks is a Django bug:
[1]. It has been fixed (see the bug page) in Django 1.5 but 13.04
contains Django 1.4.

Just did an interesting find:

When starting Apache using the usual "apache2ctl start", the process name is
mangled.
When starting Apache using the not-so-usual ". /etc/apache2/envvars && apache2

Investigation continues...

[Bug 1204518] Re: package apache2 2.4.4-6ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado el script post-installation devolvió el código de salida de error 1

2013-07-31 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. apache2 has been moving fast recently with the transition
to 2.4, and we appreciate your help in ironing out the issues.

It looks like you were running 2.4.4-6ubuntu5 at the time of your
problem, that this was fixed in Debian apache2 2.4.6-1, and Ubuntu Saucy
is now on 2.4.6-2ubuntu1 so should include the fix. Since it seems very
likely to me that this issue is now fixed, I'm marking this bug Fix
Released for now.

If you find that it is in fact not fixed in Saucy, please explain your
testing and set the bug status back to New. Thanks!

2013-07-31 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

When did you attempt this build, please? Was it after apache2.4 landed
in saucy, or before proposed-migration?

It would really help if you could post a link to your source package and
Launchpad build page for the failure, since it's really hard to figure
anything out just from your build log, especially given that you've said
"somehow" without an explanation yourself, and there should be no
apache2 2.2 binaries left in saucy now.

Once done, please change the bug status back to New. Thanks!

[Bug 1206114] Re: Package apache2-prefork-dev broken in Saucy

2013-07-31 Thread OpenCPU
Can you be more specific in which way the libapache2-mod-r-base package
is not following guidelines?

Also the problem still remains that the package 'apache2-prefork-dev'
exists but is broken. It seems you need to either completely remove this
package, or add something like:

Provides: apache2-prefork-dev
Replaces: apache2-prefork-dev

To your apache2-dev control file.

[Bug 1206114] Re: Package apache2-prefork-dev broken in Saucy

2013-07-31 Thread Robie Basak
apache2-prefork-dev is now a virtual package provided by apache2-dev,
and your build depends requires a versioned apache2-prefork-dev which
cannot be resolved by the virtual package. So my understanding is that
it is no longer possible to build-depend on a versioned apache2-prefork-
dev.

> or add something like:

It already does :)

[Bug 1206114] Re: Package apache2-prefork-dev broken in Saucy

2013-07-31 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
We are in process of transitioning from apache2.2 to apache2.4.
In addition, apache2.4 is handling debian packaging in a very different way,
thus packaging needs changing of all modules / extensions and webapps.

Please follow guidelines at:
https://wiki.debian.org/Apache/PackagingFor24 to transition your
package.

In that case, perhaps you can help me suggest how I should specify my
build-depends such that apache2-prefork-dev can correctly be resolved?

Currently the control file is as follows, which does not resolve, even
though there is no version of apache2-prefork-dev specified:

Can you not drop the apache2-prefork-dev build-dep and build-dep only on
apache2-dev instead? The wiki page has directions. Is there a reason why
this won't work for you?

[Bug 1206114] Re: Package apache2-prefork-dev broken in Saucy

2013-07-31 Thread OpenCPU
It's additional work to maintain separate packages for different
releases. If possible, I would like to have a single source package that
builds with either Apache 2.2 or Apache 2.4.

In general it seems to me that you don't want to break all current
packages with a dependency on `apache2-prefork-dev`. Somewhere in your
repo there is still an old and broken version of `apache2-prefork-dev`
that you need to clean up, such that apt will instead use `apache2-dev`
which provides `apache2-prefork-dev.

[Bug 1206114] Re: Package apache2-prefork-dev broken in Saucy

2013-07-31 Thread Adam Conrad
Yes, there's an old apache2-prefork-dev in the repository because
packages still depend on it. It will be removed when that's no longer
the case. THAT SAID, if you read the 2.2->2.4 documentation above,
rather than asking for someone to read it to you, you'll notice that the
apache maintainers in Debian have quite drastically upended the
packaging and the way modules should build and depend on apache, so
unless you're prepared to write a very hideous debian/rules and
debian/control, you're really better off just maintaining one set of
packaging scripts for <= 2.2 and one for >= 2.4. Packing for 2.4 using
the new dh_* snippet is very clean and simple, but not if you try to
make it backward compatible.

Anyhow, the part where your package probably needs changes to be friends
with apache2.4 and the part where we have a crufty package in the
archive while we're still in the middle of the transition are two
opposite points. However, the latter wouldn't be an issue if you
addressed the former (as almost all apache2 modules in Debian have done
by now).

[Bug 1037723] Re: [SRU] move walinuxagent init functionality to cloud-init

2013-07-31 Thread Ben Howard
PPA testing against the latest version works perfectly for 12.04.2. In
testing, cloud-init provisioned images boot faster and are available
before the Windows Azure fabric reports them ready.

IMO, this is ready for SRU'ing.

** Description changed:

+ [PACKAGES] cloud-init and walinuxagent
+
+ [Bundled SRU]: This SRU is 'bundled' for both cloud-init and
+ walinuxagent. In order for either WALinuxAgent or Cloud-init to provide
+ the new functionality, both have to land in the archive around the same
+ time, with cloud-init landing _before_ WALinuxAgent. For this reason,
+ this SRU covers both cloud-init and WALinuxAgent
+
+ [Impact]: On Windows Azure for 12.04, boot time provisioning is handled
+ by WALinuxAgent. However, WALinuxAgent is incapable of handling user-
+ data, which is a Juju requirement. Further, while WALinuxAgent is
+ capable of providing boot time provisioning, it configures the system in
+ a non-Debian way, which makes Azure images inconsitent with other
+ Clouds. In order to provide a consistent and reliable cloud experience,
+ Cloud-init with Azure support is needed.
+
+ [Impact: Cloud-init]: This change introduces code for the Windows Azure
+ datasource.
+
+ [Impact: WALinuxAgent]: The default configuration for WALinuxAgent is
+ now set to disable boot time provisioning, and only functions as a
+ fabric checkin. By moving provisioning functions from WALinuxAgent to
+ Cloud-init, cloud images are now portable between EC2, OpenStack and
+ Windows Azure. This also reduces the support burden by using cloud-init
+ to provision Windows Azure cloud images.
+
+ [Regression: Cloud-init]: The regression potential is low, as this is an
+ introduction of new functionality. The addition of the Windows Azure
+ datasource will not affect other datasources.
+
+ [Regression: WALinuxAgent]: By default, WALinuxAgent now requires cloud-
+ init. The default configuration is now set to ignore boot-time
+ provisioning. On systems that have WALinuxAgent installed, the current
+ configuration is used. This means that WALinuxAgent will continue to
+ work as before, unless the user takes specific action to enable cloud-
+ init.
+
+ Description of the problem :
+
+ [ORIGINAL REPORT]
As much as possible, I would like to move the initialization code that
walinux agent does into cloud-init.
cloud-init could detect the fact that it is on azure (or be configured to
look there).

The thing we need here is user-data support in cloud-init in one way or
  another.

[Bug 685096] Re: USB Passthrough not working for Windows 7 guest

2013-07-31 Thread Sam Stoelinga
Lol weird it's not marked as duplicate anymore anyway, guess it was not
you then. Don't know what happened.

Can this bug be fixed in KVM or is it really to Windows specific? Else I
may have a look at it, never did any KVM development though, should be
fun.

@Serge: Did you get the license already and had a look at this bug?
