[Bug 1214252] [NEW] 1.6.0 qemu-system-ppc64 doesn't allow console setting

2013-08-19 Thread wzis
Public bug reported:

when start using:

qemu-system-ppc64 -cdrom Fedora-16-ppc64-netinst.iso -hda ppc64.img
-boot d -m 640 -kernel vmlinuz.f16 -append console=ttyS0 -nographic

the console setting is not taken by the software, as we still see:

No console specified using screen & keyboard

I'm running qemu on Ubuntu server 12.04 LTS.

[Bug 1208455] Re: general protection fault running apt-get inside double nested kvm VM

2013-08-19 Thread Stefan Bader
Trying to summarize my testing so far:

Host: saucy 64bit, 1rst level saucy 32bit, 2nd level saucy 32bit:
- 2nd level guest did not start when using qemu-system-x86_64:
  - This may be some regression or feature, not sure, yet.
- Using qemu only (defaulting to same arch) the 2nd level guest starts:
  - I saw many NMI (21 / 31) messages which looks not good.
  - One run completed, the other caused a double fault in 2nd level.

Host: Saucy 64bit, 1rst level saucy 64bit, 2nd level saucy 32bit:
- Not ultimately required, but also using qemu (not qemu-system-x86_64).
- Works much better but doing many loops at some point there is a double
   fault too.

Host: Quantal 64bit, 1rst level saucy 32bit, 2nd level saucy 32bit:
- Had the lockups when using qemu-system-x86_64.
- Currently completed 3 runs (needs more time) with qemu only call.

Host: Quantal 64bit, 1rst level saucy 64bit, 2nd level saucy 32bit:
- With qemu only call now completed run 7.

This is not conclusive yet as I need more runs, but Quantal as host
seems more stable than Saucy. The question is whether this is also true
for Precise as host (unfortunately my test HW is too new, so its wired
network is not supported back in Precise). James, maybe you want to try
that. One critical change seems to be the use of qemu instead of qemu-
system-x86_64. I am not sure whether starting a 64bit system with
hardware acceleration from a 32bit system is something that is supposed
to work. Well the emulated cpu likely claims 64bit capability but then I
am not sure whether that combo is so well tested with respect to other
interfaces.

[Bug 1212823] Re: saucy armhf container does not start

2013-08-19 Thread Jani Monoses
I could see the container was running but lxc-console yielded only this:

Type to exit the console, to enter Ctrl+a
itself

Adding manual to rsyslog.conf results in a quieter start but still I cannot log
on.

[Bug 1212823] Re: saucy armhf container does not start

2013-08-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug. The rsyslog failure however is a bug in
qemu-arm-static rather than in lxc.

Note that while the rsyslog respawns are filling up your console, the
container should still be running. You should be able to log in on
console (I can), and you can also start the container in the background
and attach to a different console to avoid the messages. Lastly, you
can change /etc/init/rsyslog.conf to add 'manual' on a line by itself to
prevent rsyslog from starting.

[Bug 1212492] Re: cc_growpart broken if parted resizefs found

2013-08-19 Thread Scott Moser
I'm not using '--script' above. It seems to make no difference in my testing.
Thus the test with 'expect' to try to trick it into using a tty and feed it
info that way.

Sorry, i cannot test these packages since i've no accounts in
expiration for the next 30 days. But looking at the diff from the
previous version i see that modifications are exactly like the package
i built by myself to avoid this bug and used for months.

So for me is ok.

A samba security update is pending, and these packages will be superseded if

[Bug 1213915] [NEW] Please demote ceph-mds and ceph-fs-common to universe

2013-08-19 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

I noticed this while upgrading a test ceph cluster; ceph-mds and ceph-
fs-common where specifically excluded from the scope of the original MIR
for ceph - the POSIX filesystem implementation that they provide is not
'production ready' as yet so these packages need to be demoted to
universe.

[Bug 1204507] Re: MAAS rejects empty files

2013-08-19 Thread Runar Ingebrigtsen
Reinstalled MAAS-server using 12.04, and got here:
http://maas.ubuntu.com/docs/juju-quick-start.html

The ~/.juju/environments.yaml looks like this:
juju: environments
environments:
  maas:
type: maas
maas-server: 'http://localhost/MAAS'
maas-oauth: '${maas-api-key}'
admin-secret: 'nothing'

Except the maas-oauth is the key from http://cloud/MAAS/account/prefs/

mer@cloud:~$ juju status
error: no default environment found
mer@cloud:~$ juju status -e maas -v
2013-08-19 09:45:07 ERROR juju supercommand.go:235 command failed: no instances
found
error: no instances found

What does this mean? I have two nodes in my MAAS, so that shouldn't be
the instances not found.
