[Bug 1172467] Re: Dnsmasq caches negative results if it starts before the network is up
Jérôme, it's nice to hear that it is working correctly, but which of the following is the case? 1. Dnsmasq is working correctly in the standard factory configuration. 2. It is working and the circumstances under which the problem occurs haven't presented themselves again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1172467 Title: Dnsmasq caches negative results if it starts before the network is up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1172467/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1215282] Re: Possible puppet performance regression with 2.7.11-1ubuntu2.4
Thanks for finding the upstream bug. But it looks like upstream is talking about a regression introduced by switching to safe_yaml. In Ubuntu, the safe_yaml module change happened in 2.7.11-1ubuntu2.3, not 2.7.11-1ubuntu2.4. It looks like 2.7.11-1ubuntu2.4 included a roll-up of various different patches. Public bug reported: Xen-4.3 released in July and beside the new features and improvements described in [1] the packaging has been improved to: - continue to support qemu-dm (also called qemu-xen-traditional) - automatically migrate xm/xend persistent domains to use the current 4.3 - export libxenlight properly into libxen-dev (required to get libvirt libxl support) - add support to compile on armhf Since this new release also marks a bigger change as 32bit hypervisors are no longer supported and the old xm/xend stack now being officially deprecated for the second release [2] (making a complete removal expected sooner than later), it is important to get this into Saucy to allow this to settle before the next LTS. [Bug 1218959] [NEW] KVM virbr# no longer forwards multicast traffic by default (U12.04)
Public bug reported: A recent kernel update (Apr 2013) has made it's way to U12.04.2 LTS (approx June-Aug 2013) and has stopped the (default) behaviour of automatically forwarding multicast traffic over virbr#. Some updates the bridge subsystem now, by default, disable multicast traffic without IGMP Querier being enabled on that bridge. The corresponding Fedora/RHEL bug tracks the progress/updates of this specific change in relation to Fedora. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=880035 (I have yet to find a similar bug report in Ubuntu so I have created this bug to help the Ubuntu community identify multicast issues that may arise since April 2013 in U12.04 LTS and presumably other Ubuntu releases as backports are made and break regression testing.) Using the latest patches in U12.04.2 LTS this following addition, with some modifications, can be made to the udev rules will enable multicast on virbr# bridge: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=880035#c38 While this is an improvement/correction to KVM bridge networking it has broken existing functionality in U12.04.2 LTS and broke regressed functionality that once worked. ** Affects: bridge-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to bridge-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218959 Title: KVM virbr# no longer forwards multicast traffic by default (U12.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bridge-utils/+bug/1218959/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

When initializing a ceph mon filesystem this gets created OK in /var/lib/ceph/mon/ceph-OS01-07 - but the upstart configuration won't detect the mon filesystem as it contains uppercase letters. I was initially confused as running the same find command in the shell worked OK - but running it under the POSIX locale as happens in the upstart configuration causes the filesystem to be missed. Here's a test scenario that will fail on 12.04 (but not when the patch is applied), and will not fail on 12.10 and up: [Test Case] 1. Install OpenLDAP (apt-get install slapd ldap-utils) 2. Run testbug.sh as root (WARNING: this will wipe /etc/ldap/slapd.d and /var/lib/ldap, do this on a clean install) 3. Run ldapdelete -x -D cn=admin,dc=example,dc=com -w test -H ldap:/// 'uid=johndoe,dc=example,dc=com' 4. - Expected result: The delete action succeeds, ldapsearch -x -LLL -H ldap:/// -b dc=example,dc=com 'uid=johndoe' should return nothing. - Actual result: slapd crashes with SIGSEGV (see /var/log/syslog). [Bug 939300] Re: Update Apache to 2.4
The ubuntu community's systematic approach to prevent unintended consequences is well conceived and implemented. But no one plan is flawless and every good plan should have a contingency. This thread documents a years worth of history showing a very important component getting hung up in a well-intentioned process; causing server security issues to persist, significant advances to not be implemented and a loss of marketshare to competitors. [Bug 1216650] Re: slapd crashed with SIGSEGV in lutil_str2bin() when using mdb
** Description changed: When I try to remove certain entries from OpenLDAP, slapd crashes with a segmentation fault, when using the mdb backend. When I looked at the backtrace, it appeared to be this issue: http://www.openldap.org/its/index.cgi/Software%20Bugs?id=7174 which is fixed in later versions of Ubuntu (it was fixed in OpenLDAP 2.4.30), but not in precise. It was fixed upstream in this commit: http://www.openldap.org/devel/gitweb.cgi?p=openldap.git;a=commit;h=92ed65d298e47822b9e3ed7d4f9d8b938bf8b780 The bug occurred on a production server (where the bug first occurred) and in a VM using a dump of that server's directory. I've downloaded the source package, applied Ubuntu-specific patches and the above patch, and the bug does seem to be absent from the compiled result. + [Impact] + When OpenLDAP is used with mdb as its backend, this bug is very likely to occur: when a numeric field that is indexed (could be uidNumber, for example) is removed. This impedes the normal operation of slapd, as it becomes impossible to delete these entries and + any attempt to do so crashes slapd. + [Test Case] 1. Install OpenLDAP (apt-get install slapd ldap-utils) 2. Run testbug.sh as root (WARNING: this will wipe /etc/ldap/slapd.d and /var/lib/ldap, do this on a clean install) 3. Run ldapdelete -x -D cn=admin,dc=example,dc=com -w test -H ldap:/// 'uid=johndoe,dc=example,dc=com' 4. - Expected result: The delete action succeeds, ldapsearch -x -LLL -H ldap:/// -b dc=example,dc=com 'uid=johndoe' should return nothing. - Actual result: slapd crashes with SIGSEGV (see /var/log/syslog). The entry is not deleted. + + [Regression Potential] + The fix introduces new variables local in function scope. It also removes the side effects + caused by temporarily changing an input variable. Because changing the input variable is not the intended behavior, and this fix only introduces temporary variables in function scope, it can be considered as a safe change. Also, this is the only fix in a long time to utils.c, and didn't cause any problems upstream.
