[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04
Great news. I have 2 Precise clusters, one has the Raring stack and the other has the original Precise stack. I'll give the package a try and let you know. Please bear with me if that takes a little time. [Bug 1229275] Re: juju destroy-environment also destroys nodes that are not controlled by juju
Looks like we never added anything to tag the machines with their environment. [Bug 1229275] Re: juju destroy-environment also destroys nodes that are not controlled by juju
One solution to fix this problem would be this: - when the env is bootstrapped: create a tag named after the environment UUID - each time juju takes control of a node: associate that tag with the node - when juju fetches the list of instances it controls, only return the nodes associated with that tag ** Also affects: juju-core Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: juju-core Importance: Undecided = Critical ** Changed in: juju-core Status: New = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1229275 Title: juju destroy-environment also destroys nodes that are not controlled by juju To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/juju-core/+bug/1229275/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1231459] Re: Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-close.c: 759: _dl_close: Assertion `map-l_init_called' failed!
Hi. What's going on here is that it seems there are cases where on process exit, ld.so will destruct the plugins before it destructs the dlopening library. So it sets m_inited to 0. But as part of its finalizer the library tries to clean up its resources, and dlcloses the plugins. Getting you this crash. For Debian I've decided to leak the library resource. ** Patch added: 0006-gssapi-never-unload-mechanisms.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/krb5/+bug/1231459/+attachment/3842357/+files/0006-gssapi-never-unload-mechanisms.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to krb5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1231459 Title: Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-close.c: 759: _dl_close: Assertion `map-l_init_called' failed! [Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04
Dear Stefan Bader (smb), I installed the 64-bits package you posted on 1 node of each cluster and it worked mostly as expected indeed. The first cluster has kernel 3.8. It had tools 8.4.2 installed from the sources. I uninstalled them (make unsintall was a bit buggy in that version but no mater), and replaced with your package. drbdadm --version now shows : DRBDADM_BUILDTAG=GIT-hash:\ 89a294209144b68adb3ee85a73221f964d3ee515\ build\ by\ phil@fat-tyre\,\ 2013-02-05\ 15:35:49 DRBDADM_API_VERSION=1 DRBD_KERNEL_VERSION_CODE=0x080402 DRBDADM_VERSION_CODE=0x080403 DRBDADM_VERSION=8.4.3 The second cluster has kernel 3.2. (backported by your humble servant) It had tools and module v8.3.13 installed from a custom package backported by you humble servant I upgraded to you package and drbdadm now shows : DRBDADM_BUILDTAG=GIT-hash:\ 89a294209144b68adb3ee85a73221f964d3ee515\ build\ by\ phil@fat-tyre\,\ 2013-02-05\ 15:35:49 DRBDADM_API_VERSION=88 DRBD_KERNEL_VERSION_CODE=0x08030d DRBDADM_VERSION_CODE=0x08030a DRBDADM_VERSION=8.3.10 On the second cluster, 2 out of 6 resources failed to reconnect gracefully, citing a mismatch in verify-alg. drbdadm --adjust all on the upgraded node brought it back in order. In both clusters, the drbd config was left untouched (I refused the packaged version of the config file). The module was not unloaded and primary resources remained in production. [Bug 1100843] Re: Live Migration Causes Performance Issues
From my testing this has been fixed in the saucy version (1.5.0) of qemu. It is fixed by this patch: f1c72795af573b24a7da5eb52375c9aba8a37972 However later in the history this commit was reverted, and again broke this. The other commit that fixes this is: 211ea74022f51164a7729030b28eec90b6c99a08 So 211ea740 needs to be backported to P/Q/R to fix this issue. [Bug 1026621] Re: nova-network gets release_fixed_ip events from someplace, but the database still keeps them associated with instances
Michael, Thank you for taking a look at this and creating the new bug for changing the way libvirt virtualizes the hardware clock for Windows vs. Linux. I believe this to be the root cause for the bug defined here because of the way Windows handles DHCP renewals. ===DHCP=== As for DHCP, I am not sure anything is wrong with having a very short DHCP lease time of 120 sec as the default for nova. I was more curious what the reasoning behind this was. My understanding is that the DNSMasq default is 12 hours. I found this message also asking about the nova default - https://lists.launchpad.net/openstack/msg24200.html I also wanted to say that the DHCP lease time of 120 seconds does not really exacerbate the issue as I stated above. What is does is make the issue present faster. ==Windows DHCP lease renewal behavior=== This is my understanding of why we are seeing a lose of IP address for Windows 2008R2 (my reproducible issue) 1. Windows instance boots up on KVM with the hardware clock set to UTC (expects localtime) 2. The instance gets it's DHCP lease. (2 min) it logs the obtained time and expire time for the lease Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : novalocal Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Red Hat VirtIO Ethernet Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : FA-16-3E-23-D2-8E DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::d420:7346:d258:ffa2%11(Preferred) IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.25(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, September 26, 2013 5:17:06 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, September 26, 2013 5:47:06 PM Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.1 DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 251270718 DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : 00-01-00-01-19-D6-86-9A-FA-16-3E-23-D2-8E DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled 3. NTP time sync happens, in my timezone PST (windows default), this sets the instance clock back 7 hours and updates the DHCP lease information as follows Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : novalocal Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Red Hat VirtIO Ethernet Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : FA-16-3E-23-D2-8E DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::d420:7346:d258:ffa2%11(Preferred) IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.25(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Monday, August 20, 1877 10:48:50 AM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, September 26, 2013 10:47:09 AM Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.1 DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 251270718 DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : 00-01-00-01-19-D6-86-9A-FA-16-3E-23-D2-8E DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled 4. Windows now thinks it's DHCP lease obtained time is in the future and resets the obtained time to some time way in the past (year 1877) but adjusts the expire time to be the same amount of time from current time as it was before the NTP update. In the above example 30 min. 5. When the DHCP expire time is reached Windows releases the IP address and does not try and do a DHCP renewal. From what I can tell this has been in issue in Windows for a very long time and and has not been addressed. In a hardware case this would be a one time problem until the time is updated and a manual DCHP renewal is done. But for unattended virtual machines the issue is much more of a problem. As the above message states Michael has created a new bug for the Widows issue and has already coded a fix! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026621 Title: nova-network gets release_fixed_ip events from someplace, but the database still keeps them associated with instances To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1026621/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1026621] Re: nova-network gets release_fixed_ip events from someplace, but the database still keeps them associated with instances
===DHCP=== While I do agree that It would make sense to ping an IP before its lease is deleted as a extra safety measure. This would not have help this specific Windows issue as the IP is released by the instance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026621 Title: nova-network gets release_fixed_ip events from someplace, but the database still keeps them associated with instances To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1026621/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1047262] Re: race condition on startup between samba and cups
I tried the reload-smbd job on Precise but it doesn't work. The job is definitely started after cups but the queues still aren't there. Works fine in Quantal. Running 'start smbd; start cups; reload smbd' while the system is running does work, and adding a 'sleep 1' to reload.smbd.conf also works, so I guess having this work properly depends on some other change (in cups, possibly? forking too soon?). I was going to propose an SRU with just the reload-smbd.conf from Quantal but it's looking more complicated than that. Any ideas? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1047262 Title: race condition on startup between samba and cups To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1047262/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
