Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration or
corruption problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as
Incomplete.

If this is indeed a local configuration problem, you can find pointers

helpful to read How to report bugs effectively

if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to

[Bug 1267913] Re: juju relation-list doesn't report full units list when unit is down

2014-01-13 Thread Yolanda Robla
Problem reduced to the following:

When first unit is up, and a relation is added, relation-list stops in
the first failing unit, so it doesn't list the rest.

That is a trouble for HA because if for some reason first unit is lost,
we are unable to add more units to the service, the only way to fix it,
is to destroy the service and recreate again.

[Bug 1268588] [NEW] apach2 does not read virtual host file with period in filename

2014-01-13 Thread Emmanuel
Public bug reported:

OS Version: Ubuntu 13.10, release: 13.10
Apache version: Apache/2.4.6 (Ubuntu), Built: Dec 5 2013 18:33:15

Bug: Virtual hosts configuration saved inside files with period/dot
(apart from the .conf part) in filename are not processed, e.g.
/etc/apache2/sites-available/mysite.com.conf

What happens: Apache2.4 does not load the virtual hosts
What is expected: Apache2.4 should load the virtual hosts

The a2ensite and a2dissite commands will see the files and work
correctly to create/remove the symlinks in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/

However, apache2 does not appear to read the file, there is no error
related to the virtual hosts even with apache -S

if the file is renamed as mysite.conf, apache will load the virtual host
correctly. No other change is needed and there does not appear to be any
requirement in Apache 2.4 documentation that requires the files not to
use period/dots in the filename

[Bug 1267564] Re: etckeeper with git breaks upgrade from Precise to Trusty

2014-01-13 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks like git's behaviour changed between 1:1.7.10.4-1ubuntu1
(Quantal) and 1:1.8.1.2-1 (Raring).

If dnsdomainname returns empty, then git now fails, whereas before it
proceeded with invalid committer/author email addresses.

I think there are two things going on here. First is the change in
upstream git; the second is that your system had a misconfigured (ie.
empty) domain name.

So I think this is a previous domain name misconfiguration on your
system causing the problem, rather than a general requirement that you
must now configure git with a name and email. Configuring git with a
name and email merely overrides the default. It is the default that on
your system has always been unobtainable but is now being treated as an
error.

Nevertheless, it would be nice if etckeeper didn't break in this case,
as it is expected to function automatically and so prompting the user
during an upgrade (as git does) is not helpful. I wonder how many other
users do not have domain names defined.

Could you please post /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts and explain how you
installed your system originally, so that we can figure out how many
other users this issue might affect? And have you modified /etc/hostname
and/or /etc/hosts by hand, at all?

2014-01-13 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

This sounds like a valid bug report. Next steps would be to test apache2
in Debian, and if the bug affects Debian too, then to file a bug there.

Marking Importance: Low as I expect this will only affect a small number
of users, and there is a workaround available.

Handy to know, thanks.

That's interesting! Thanks for testing.

[Bug 1263738] Re: login console 0 in user namespace container is not configured right

2014-01-13 Thread Seth Forshee
I straced bash, and I think this is what ends up causing job control to
be disabled:

ioctl(255, SNDRV_TIMER_IOCTL_SELECT or TIOCSPGRP, [1144]) = -1 ENOTTY
(Inappropriate ioctl for device)

255 is stderr duped to a high fd, so it looks like whatever stderr is
mapped to is not a tty.

[Bug 1268713] [NEW] import-boot-images doesn't seem to do anything on latest trusty builds

2014-01-13 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

Following the docs, I did the following on a system running the latest
Trusty image with the latest MAAS packages for trusty:

$ maas-cli maas node-groups import-boot-images

On Saucy or earlier (and I believe on earlier versions of Trusty), this
would launch the olders scripts maas-import-pxe-files and maas-import-
ephemerals

Today, it does nothing but exit. Nothign appears in the pserv log,
nothing in maas.log.

There is nothing I can find written anywhere that indicates this command
is doing anything other than printing the message that the files will be
imported and then exiting.

There is no data being written to the /var/lib/maas/ dirs that hold
ephemerals and PXE files and nothing appears in PS to be related to
this.

I finally manually ran the older commands to get the files imported.

[Bug 1268719] [NEW] sshd cause segfault in libc if too many IP addresses on interface

2014-01-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

You have been subscribed to a public security bug:

sshd cause segfault in libc during new user connecton if too many IP
addresses assigned to any interface

If any network interface in system has too many addresses on it, at
every new login sshd cause segfault:

sshd[28944]: segfault at 7fff2d3b6ff0 ip 7fa8f7ac7ee8 sp
7fff2d3b6ff0 error 6 in libc-2.15.so[7fa8f79ae000+1b5000]

Script to configure addresses:

#!/bin/bash
ip tuntap add mode tun dev ssh_down
for a in `seq 1 4`; do
for b in `seq 1 254`; do
echo 10.$a.$b.x `date '+%Y-%M-%d %H:%m:%S %s'`|tee -a log
for c in `seq 1 254`;do
ip a a 10.$a.$b.$c/8 dev ssh_down
done
done
done

It gonna take some time to generate enough addresses (in my case it was
about 20 minutes). Somewhere during that time new ssh connections starts
to fail.

In my tests crical point was somewhere near 10.3.200.x (3*253*253=~200k
addresses).

Reproducibility: always

Security scope: This bug allow user with netadmin priveleges completely
disable new logins to server via ssh.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Run script
2. wait until it done
3. Try to log in to that server.

Expected behavior: successfull login
Actual behavior:
ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer
+
[ 622.730506] sshd[32556]: segfault at 7fff3568ffd0 ip 7f5d1dda7ee8 sp

in dmesg.

Existing ssh connections are not affected.

Now that we can use bind-dynamic, I have nothing against setting that

However, I'd really appreciate if separate bugs could be opened rather

see and fix.

[Bug 1243762] Re: [MIR] juju-core, golang

2014-01-13 Thread Curtis Hovey
Hi James

I think the status of juju-core is incorrect, or maybe we are tracking
the effort to put juju-core in main with bug 1267393.

I understand that plan is to switch to gccgo for all the arch we build.
(I have taken steps to build the window's juju client on windows to
avoid cross-compilation risks,) We Still want juju-core is main. If bug
1267393 is tracking juju-core in main, then maybe we should make this
entire bug wont-fix.

[Bug 1268783] [NEW] traceback in celery-region log when maas controls DNS and tries to write dns config

2014-01-13 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

Using latest trusty bits I manually created a node in the MAAS UI. On
setting the node, MAAS successfully powered the node on via IPMI. The
node booted and got an IP address but then failed to PXE due to PXE
timeout errors. While all this is going on, each retry prompted a new
DHCP lease which seems to have triggered a DNS update. The celery
region log showed this each time DNS config was attempted:

[Bug 1268795] [NEW] unable to automatically commission Cisco UCS server due to BMC user permissions

2014-01-13 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

I have connected a Cisco UCS C220 M3 system to my MAAS server.

I have tried and succeeded in enlisting the server both automatically by
powering the server on manually, and via the UI by feeding maas the
server CIMC information and have MAAS automatically power the server on
via IPMI and enlist.

BUT once I get to a declared system, I am unable to commission it via
the UI.

When the system is enlisted, MAAS appears to create a maas user in slot
10 of the CIMC user table. BUT rather than making this user a User or
Admin, it is set to Read Only

Because of this, the maas user in the CIMC does not have permission to
power the server up or down and thus can't commission.

If I manually power the server on, it then PXE bootes the commissioning
image, does it's stuff and then shuts down.

At this point, the server is indeed marked as Ready and can be used in
the MAAS cluster.
