one of the causes for the increases memory usage with the gccgo built

[Bug 1153077] Re: rabbitmq queue fills up and celery stops executing tasks when upload_dhcp_leases is done every minute (by default)

2014-02-25 Thread Gavin Panella
I've recently seen a somewhat similar situation:

- Celery went down for a while.

- Celerybeat jobs accumulated in RabbitMQ.

- When Celery came back up, it spun manically, going through hundreds of
old jobs.

However, neither Celery nor RabbitMQ showed signs of falling over. They
were just busy.

It's a separate bug, but we should ensure that Celerybeat jobs have a
very short lifetime. Maybe RabbitMQ or Celery have a mechanism for
ignoring old jobs. If not, we can add a timestamp check to the job
implementations themselves.

That's a good point, there is support in Celery for this:

That's weird, the beat stuff is integrated into the celeryd isn't it?

[Bug 1284718] [NEW] interface-attach to shared external network a) works and b) results in undeletable instances

2014-02-25 Thread James Page
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Private security bug reported:

2013.2.1 release of OpenStack, Neutron OVS plugin.

Users where able to add interfaces using the 'nova interface-attach'
command to the external network definition within the OpenStack
deployment. This appears to work and the ports are listed in nova port-
list . However when deleting these instances, nova-compute throws
the following error; its also not possible to delete the offending ports
from the user tenant; this has to be done from an admin tenant:

neutron port-delete

[Bug 1284652] Re: maas/installation-note could (should?) be echoed to the CLI, not a debconf note

2014-02-25 Thread Daniel Westervelt
The inability to automatically suppress this pop-up is blocking the
cloud-installer bootstrap automation. We either need to figure out a
workaround or remove the d-i/ncurses style pop-up and replace it with a
cmdline message.

[Bug 1284793] [NEW] [FFE] Merge qemu 2.0

2014-02-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
Public bug reported:

Currently 14.04 has qemu 1.7.0+dfsg-3ubuntu4, which had 234 patches.
Many of those are for enabling aarch64, most will be in 2.0.

Qemu 2.0 is scheduled to be released on April 4
(http://wiki.qemu.org/Planning/2.0). I will begin doing regular package
building/testing before release. If that testing goes well, I would
like 2.0 to be considered for a late pull into 14.04.

We will be supporting this package for 5 years; therefore I would
prefer a 2.0 with very few patches on top, to a 1.7 with hundreds of
patches, as a starting point.

[Bug 1284793] Re: [FFE] Merge qemu 2.0

2014-02-25 Thread Marc Deslauriers
FYI, From a security point of view, I would much rather support 2.0 than
to support 1.7 with a zillion patches. Qemu is a package that does get a
_lot_ of security updates, so being closer to a released version is
preferable.

[Bug 1284793] Re: [FFE] Merge qemu 2.0

2014-02-25 Thread Stéphane Graber
So are you planning on uploading the upstream rc releases starting with
rc0?

I wouldn't be too fond of just landing the final 2.0 to replace our 1.7
in early April, but if we switch to an upstream snapshot soon, then
track their RCs that should leave us enough time to ensure our qemu is
solid by release time.

For an LTS, having good upstream support and an easy way to backport
fixes and security fixes is critical, so if we have a reasonable landing
plan for qemu 2.0, I'll be happy to grant the FFe.

Re: [Bug 1284793] Re: [FFE] Merge qemu 2.0

2014-02-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Stéphane Graber (stgra...@stgraber.org):
> So are you planning on uploading the upstream rc releases starting with
> rc0?

Absolutely. I intend to push a package based on tomorro's git to ppa,
for starters. I'll push the version based on rc0 to a ppa as well,
so that if it just doesn't look usable, we can still backtrack. If it
looks ok, then rc1 to archive should be ok.

Sounds reasonable to me. Please make sure to announce your PPA on
ubuntu-devel and other relevant mailing-lists to get as much feedback as
early as possible.

[Bug 1243076] Re: libapache2-mod-auth-mysql is missing in 13.10 amd64

2014-02-25 Thread Paul Thomas
Nobody can adapt the source code to work with Apache 2.4 it's so hard ?
(Or try to contact the maintainer ?)

I think that's a bug when I have tried Apache 2.4 (summer 2013) but the problem
is still there and found this bug report now :(
It's not only for LAMP but all authentifications to MySQL from Apache.

I can use DBD, switch to PostgreSQL or create a webpage for MySQL
authentification but it's not more secure directly from Apache than a
webpage ?

[Bug 1031063] Re: internal error no supported architecture for os type 'hvm'

2014-02-25 Thread Somnath Mani
Ran in to the same issue with Ubuntu-12.04. I am trying to set up nova compute
in a VM. I wanted to use libvit_type=qemu but i kept getting the error "hvm not
supported".
Just when I was about to give up and try to reboot my host with nested
virtualization capability, I realized that I was adding
libvirt_type=qemu in /etc/nova/nova.conf while I should really be adding it in
/etc/nov/nova-compute.conf

Doing that resolved my issue! I can now launch a nested VM using qemu.
Hope this helps someone :-)
