[Bug 1308341] Re: Multiple CPUs causes blue screen on Windows guest

2014-05-12 Thread Krzysztof Cybulski
My instalation was upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04, as well. My machine
have 2 CPU, so I set Windows 7 VM to be the only guest using CPU2
(1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15) , the error still persists.

[Bug 1312975] Re: cgroup-lite can not be installed with systemd

2014-05-12 Thread Martin Pitt
More concretely, cgroups-mount/umount and the corresponding upstart job
aren't necessary at all under systemd. So the only thing to do here is
to provide a no-op placeholder cgroup-lite.service to satisfy invoke-
rc.d.

[Bug 1318610] [NEW] GOFLAGS support in dpkg-buildflags, and using it

[Bug 1312975] Re: cgroup-lite can not be installed with systemd

2014-05-12 Thread Martin Pitt
This is really a chicken-and-egg problem. We can't upgrade from packages
which only have upstart jobs when already running systemd, or at least
not with what we have right now. Upgrades need to happen under upstart
until packages get fixed for systemd support, and from then on it will
work under systemd as well (I tried with --reinstall, and works fine).

chicken-and-egg problem. We could, for example, have the new prerm
create the cgroup-lite.service → /dev/null symlink if it isn’t already
there.

[Bug 1315029] Re: shib2.load prevents webdav from reading .htpasswd file

2014-05-12 Thread Bernie
Got it working...

Server version: Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu)

WebDav syntax from previous version of apache2 works fine in the new
version of apache2, But...

when loading shib2.load mod it ceases to work...

Note... WebDav Syntax has completely changed in the new version of
Apache/2.4.7

When implementing the correct syntax for WebDav the issue no longer
exists.

Please use the following URL when implementing WebDav in 2.4.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/howto/auth.html

Regards
Bernie

[Bug 1278359] Re: ntpdate call frequency

2014-05-12 Thread C de-Avillez
* Disclaimer: The functionality of this program is now available in the
ntpd program. See the -q command line option in the ntpd - Network Time
Protocol (NTP) daemon page. After a suitable period of mourning, the
ntpdate program is to be retired from this distribution [1]. This page
was last updated on Nov 2012, but I would expect mourning to take
longer.

In other words: I would not expect ntpdate to be changed.

I suspect that ntpdate is a smaller package then ntp.

ntpdate is indeed smaller than ntp, by a factor of 10 (590k for ntp, 63k
for ntpdate). Generically, both of them are small enough not to be an
issue.

ntp still also is a server package

Yes indeed. ntp can be used as a source for clock (when you build your
own stratum), or as a consumer (client). Even as a source you still need
another source for clock (be it a stratum 1, or a local GPS, or
whatever). In my case, I usually deploy one ntp server syncing to
upstream strata, and all the machines in my network will sync with my
ntp server (as a result there is one -- perhaps two -- ntp servers in my
network, and -- except for these ntp servers -- all clock sync is local
to my network.

this might be the reason behind the use of ntpdate

Most probably (before my time, so not really sure) ntpdate was written
because (at the time) *most* non-server machines were rarely connected.
So a program that could attempt time sync when the network was up again
would help a lot. Of course, given the (usually) long interval between
network connects, the local clock would be off by a larger margin.

Also, ntp itself lacked the ability to make large changes instantly,
like ntpdate does. This is now available, via the -g parameter.

As for minor time fluctuations: well, it all depends on what you see
as minor and major. You do not see clock fluctuation as major; I do not
see it as minor. But it all depends if your machines are providing
services or not, I guess.

...It might be a good idea to create an option in the ntp (or
ntpdate)...

It is already there. For the poll interval, please see Poll Interval
Management at [2]. In other words: you can manage your poll as you
wish, with intervals as large as 36 hours. Of course, doing that just
because one does not want frequent clock sync sort of throws NTP's
poll management off. shrug/, this is an user option, and any
consequences will be at the user's computer.

But, I guess, my whole issue here is that -- for me -- it does not make
sense to have the ability to maintain time synced, and not use it. The
cost, in terms of CPU cycles, and packets exchange is not that
significant (and most probably smaller than the load of a not-simple web
page).

[Bug 1318691] [NEW] missing or wrong links in qemu-kvm

2014-05-12 Thread Philip Orleans
Public bug reported:

Ina default installation of trusty, no kvm virtual machine or libvirt-
lxc container may start, unless these links are created

cd /usr/libexec
ls -hls
0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 May 8 16:55 libvirt_lxc -
/usr/lib/libvirt/libvirt_lxc
0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 May 12 14:33 qemu-kvm - /usr/bin/kvm

As you can see, the packages expect these libraries in /usr/libexec. Also the
name if the second library is wrong. I believe this can be corrected in the
Emulator= of some config file, but I did not complete the research.

Public bug reported:

One special of the most predictable and wakeless adaptations that

The nonpareil way to remove fat quickly is to tolerate a opposition

There are a activity of elements that go in the content of processing

[Bug 1318660] Re: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/apiclient/__init__.py', which is also in package python-googleapi 1.2-2

2014-05-12 Thread Greg Lutostanski
Looks like both packages want to call themselves apiclient. Upstream
googleapi has changed packagename to googleapiclient so as to avoid
confusion, but have not had a new release since that change.

In my estimation both packages probably need to have their python
package names changed especially since there is an separate apiclient
project already registered on pypi (though it looks to be abandoned --

[Bug 1278466] Re: [FFe] ceph firefly stable release

2014-05-12 Thread Brian Murray
Hello James, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ceph into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceph/0.80-0ubuntu1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

2014-05-12 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1318803] [NEW] FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE installer does not boot (kernel trap 12 with interrupts disabled)

2014-05-12 Thread Andre Goree
Public bug reported:

This is similar (or perhaps the exact same bug that was thought to be
fixed) to this[1] issue on Debian.

Essentially, I cannot boot either FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE nor Freebsd
9.2-RELEASE on KVM/QEMU guests, as they fail with a kernel panic with
the following error message:

Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode

You can see the full messages (both with acpi and with it disabled)
here[2], though I don't imagine they'll be of much importance. This
seems to have to do with 'atkbd' on FreeBSD having some sort of issue
with seabios -- specifically version 1.7.4-x. Just as in the
aforementioned bug, if I downgrade to seabios version 1.7.3, everything
works fine.

Is this something I should take up with the Debian devs?

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using:
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Release:12.04
2) The version of the package you are using:

I expect 'virsh start $freebsd_image' to start the image without incident.
4)What happened instead:
The image indeed starts, however during boot, it runs into a kernel panic.

[Bug 1318830] [NEW] High CPU usage on windows virtual machine

2014-05-12 Thread Philip Orleans
Public bug reported:

I got Ubuntu 14.04, with Qemu 2.0 and moved my windows VM to this new box, and
made sure that what this article indicates was achieved
https://www.kraxel.org/blog/2014/03/qemu-and-usb-tablet-cpu-consumtion/
I can attest that it works following the instructions, erasing the registry,

[Bug 1318835] [NEW] regression: smbclient authfile parameter no longer works

2014-05-12 Thread pd5rm
Public bug reported:

I was using smbclient as part of my autofs setup to enumerate remote
shares. This worked fine on a previous release of Ubuntu 13.10, however
when I upgraded to 14.04, my shares no longer got enumerated.

When I debugged further, I was getting logon errors. As a workground, it
was suggested I modify the smb.conf file and change the workgroup
setting there. This appeared to work, but doesn't make sense to me. I
shouldn't need to change smb.conf (used for smbd server) for client
usage. I would expect the authfile passed to -A to be used for
authentication purposes.

Before smb.conf change:
user@workstation:/$ sudo /usr/bin/smbclient -A /etc/auto.credentials -gL
server
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

After modifying smb.conf (changed workgroup parameter to my domain name):
user@workstation:/$ sudo /usr/bin/smbclient -A /etc/auto.credentials -gL
server
Domain=[mydomain] OS=[Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard 9600] Server=[Windows
Server 2012 R2 Standard 6.3]
Disk|mysharename|
snipped list fo sharenames
Domain=[mydomain] OS=[Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard 9600] Server=[Windows
Server 2012 R2 Standard 6.3]

My auto.credentials file is like so (as documented in smbclient manpage).
username=username
password=password
domain=domain/workgroup

[Bug 1318840] [NEW] Excel Mac open files as read-only on Samba 4.1.6-ubuntu

2014-05-12 Thread Jonathan S Fisher
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

Use OSX 10.9.2 and Excel 2011 with latest service pack
Install samba packes on Trusty Server
Create a writeable share in Samba
Mount the share in OSX
Copy an excel document to share
Try to edit it, see it's read-only
Close excel, see you can copy/delete/whatever the file

This might be related? Not sure:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10564

I'm going to try and compile custom version of Samba with the patch and
verify that fixes the issue.

It will be quite difficult to change all of the maas namespace because
of Django, but I think apiclient was an easier one as it's not a Django
project.

[Bug 1316872] Re: package mongodb-clients (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/bsondump', which is also in package mongodb-10gen 2.4.10

2014-05-12 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu, since no package mongodb-10gen ships with Ubuntu itself.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.
