[Bug 594840] Re: Many "connection_read(): no connection!" warnings from OpenLDAP server when using ldapi:/// and a bind DN (no external authentication)

2014-06-02 Thread Ryan Tandy
Hi Aleksey,

It's normal for slapd to emit that message if a client disconnects
without unbinding. If you turn slapd's loglevel up a bit, say to
"stats", you should see enough information preceding that message to
tell whether that's the case.

If you see that message even though every client did an unbind before
disconnecting, can you tell us some more about the conditions where you
see it, or a way to reproduce?

[Bug 1316597] Re: test_smartos fails in a chroot

2014-06-02 Thread Charles Plessy
Thanks Scott ! This is very timely as Debian's cloud-init package just
got http://bugs.debian.org/750314 filed because the package could not be
rebuilt in a chroot.

Do you by chance plan an upstream release of cloud-init in the near
future ? If not, I will apply revision 976 as a patch to the Debian
package.

Have a nice day,

Public bug reported:

running 'dpkg-reconfigure cloud-init' shows an issue.

To recreate:
 dpkg-reconfigure cloud-init
check some boxes (including anything after MAAS)
 notice that:
   * debconf complains :
Use of uninitialized value in list assignment at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Element/Multiselect.pm line 12
   * /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/90_dpkg.cfg does not have all datasources in it.

Yes. Thats correct.

$ virsh reboot instance-name

or a soft reboot from from inside the vm (while logged in through the
serial console) does the trick. The VM is back online and accessible.

Thanks for reporting this bug. When you say "reboot the machine and it comes
alive again", do you mean that a soft reboot from inside the vm guest (i.e. not

[Bug 1325446] Re: Database corrupted during ldapadd

2014-06-02 Thread Andy Balaam
It looks like the default database created when configuring slapd was
conflicting with what I was specifying in comment #3. I guess this has
changed with the recent version provided with 14.04.

If I enter the right values during dpkg-reconfigure, and leave out this
whole section of db.ldif, it seems to work. So now my db.ldif just
starts with "olcRootDN: cn=admin,dc=balaam,dc=com".

Solved, phew!

[Bug 1325446] Re: Database corrupted during ldapadd

A minimal testcase looks like:

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure slapd# Choose hdb as database type, enter an
admin password, and accept defaults for other values.

$ sudo ldapadd -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -f db.ldif

# Where db.ldif looks like this:
$ cat db.ldif
dn: olcDatabase={1}hdb,cn=config
objectClass: olcDatabaseConfig
objectClass: olcHdbConfig
olcDatabase: {1}hdb
olcDbDirectory: /var/lib/ldap
olcSuffix: dc=balaam,dc=com

# Then syslog contains this line, and everything goes wrong from there:

bare medal depending on the results of further testing.

[Bug 1323758] Re: Mouse stops working when connected usb-storage-device

2014-06-02 Thread Ruben Portier
Thanks for the response!

Yes, the hard drive does become available in the Windows vm. I can use
it as I would normally do in a non-virtual environment. I have not yet
tried any other Windows version. I'm running Windows 8.1 x64.

[Bug 1325683] [NEW] Having the string '$pid' in the config file breaks the init script

2014-06-02 Thread wereHamster
Public bug reported:

I have the following line in the main config file
(/etc/nginx/nginx.conf):

log_format syslog 'nginx[$pid]: $host $remote_addr $remote_user
"$request" $status $body_bytes_sent "$http_referer" "$http_user_agent"';

This line alone makes it impossible to start nginx. The init script
parses the pid file path from the config file, but does that in a
unreliable way:

PID=$(awk -F'[ \t;]+' '/[^#]pid/ {print $2}' /etc/nginx/nginx.conf)

For my config file, this returns two lines, the first one with the pid
file, the second line with just 'log_format':

$ awk -F'[ \t;]+' '/[^#]pid/ {print $2}' /etc/nginx/nginx.conf
/var/run/nginx.pid
log_format
$

Later on when the init script attempts to start nginx, it fails:

$ start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --pidfile /var/run/nginx.pid log_format
--exec /usr/sbin/nginx --
nginx: invalid option: "log_format"

Ubuntu 14.04, everything updated today.

[Bug 1325560] Re: kvm vm loses network connectivity under "enough" load

2014-06-02 Thread Izhar ul Hassan
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected precise third-party-packages

** Description changed:

Networking breaks after awhile in kvm guests using virtio networking. We
run data intensive jobs on our virtual cluster (OpenStack Grizzly
Installed on Ubuntu 12.04 Server). The job runs fine on a single worker
VM (no data transfer involved). As soon as I add more nodes where the
workers need to exchange some data, one of the worker VM goes down. Ping
responds with 'host unreachable'. Logging in via the serial console
shows no problems: eth0 is up, can ping the local host, but no outside
connectivity. Restart the network (/etc/init.d/networking restart) does
nothing. Reboot the machine and it comes alive again.

This was modified by c28f49fd37b during the ubuntu-raring kernel

[Bug 1325470] Re: [systemd] error 5 creating /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/lxc/console after failed container startup

2014-06-02 Thread Martin Pitt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1325468 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325468

I reproduced the situation: Reverted the apparmor profile to what's in
utopic, booted with systemd, ran "sudo ./lxc-net start", and tried to
start my "debci" container (unconfined apparmor, Ubuntu trusty).

This leaks the following mounts:
/home/martin/.Private on /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/home/ubuntu/debci type
ecryptfs
(rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,ecryptfs_fnek_sig=a44ae562e9394275,ecryptfs_sig=e4e769aed2e4cb79,ecryptfs_cipher=aes,ecryptfs_key_bytes=16,ecryptfs_unlink_sigs)
devpts on /scratch/lxc/debci/rootfs/dev/lxc/console type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/lxc/console type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /scratch/lxc/debci/rootfs/dev/lxc/tty1 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/lxc/tty1 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /scratch/lxc/debci/rootfs/dev/lxc/tty2 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/lxc/tty2 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /scratch/lxc/debci/rootfs/dev/lxc/tty3 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/lxc/tty3 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /scratch/lxc/debci/rootfs/dev/lxc/tty4 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
devpts on /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/lxc/tty4 type devpts
(rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)

As /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/lxc/console is a mount point, that
explains the EIO when trying to creat() it.

As this is a direct result from a failure to remount the container fs as
a slave, I think there is not much point in trying to clean this up, and
we should just fix the apparmor profile (bug 1325468). Hence I close
this now.

[Bug 1325468] Re: [systemd] container startup fails with AppArmor

2014-06-02 Thread Martin Pitt
I just tried this, and it seems to work:

mount options in (rw, slave) -> /,

man apparmor.d should be fixed for this, as the parentheses are not contained
in the EBNF. With that, and the two
/lib/init/apparmor-profile-load calls from /etc/init/lxc.conf I can now run all
containers.

[Bug 1325468] Re: [systemd] container startup fails with AppArmor

2014-06-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Oh, I missed the "lxc-start: No such file or directory - failed to
change apparmor profile to lxc-container-default". I didn't run the
equivalents of /etc/init/lxc.conf. "sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor reload"
seems to have understood the new line (mount options in rw, slave,), but
when I manually run the equivalent of that upstart job, I get an error:

$ sudo /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load usr.bin.lxc-start
AppArmor-Parser-Fehler f?r /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.lxc-start in
/etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/lxc/start-container in Zeile 16: syntax error,
unexpected TOK_ID, expecting TOK_END_OF_RULE or TOK_ARROW

The syntax indeed looks a bit curious as it's using the comma both for
separating mount options as well as separating entire rules, so this
might not be entirely correct.

2014-06-02 Thread Serge Hallyn
the

kvm [1698]: vcpu0 disabled perfctr wrmsr: 0xc1 data 0x

be relevant, but shouldn't be. Libvirt should be able to pass in
just the right device.

The xml descriptions look correct. The lspci outputs seem backward,
as device

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 03f0:070c Hewlett-Packard

shows up in the after, but not before, outputs.

I'll try to reproduce after I manage to set up a remote windows
vm, using a usb flash drive.

Can you confirm whether the hard drive appears to become available
in the windows vm?

package associated with the kernel - for example:

2014-06-02 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu. Specifically:

> Invalid command 'Order', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not
included in the server configuration

You need to update your Apache configuration to meet the requirements
for Apache 2.4. See

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1325560] [NEW] kvm vm loses network connectivity under "enough" load

2014-06-02 Thread Izhar ul Hassan
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1325084] Re: Please update package keepalived on ubuntu 12.04 LTS (precise)

2014-06-02 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Please see the stable release update policy, rationale and procedure
documented at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

In particular, I see changelog entries such as "some cosmetics.", which
do not appear suitable for update in Precise under the existing policy,
and I do not believe that keepalived has an exception. However, specific
bugs can be cherry-picked - see the policy for details.

Since a straight update does not appear compliant with policy as
upstream do not have a bugfix-only branch, this bug is effectively
reduced to "please fix bugs", so I'm marking it as Invalid as there is
no specific action that can be done here. If there are specific bugs
that have fixes that should be backported to Precise, then please file
bugs on those and follow the SRU procedure as documented. If you do so,
then feel free to reopen this bug to track progress.

[Bug 1308069] Re: test_prepare_holds_startup_lock() fails spuriously

2014-06-02 Thread Jeroen T. Vermeulen
New hypothesis: the code in DatabaseLock opens, and closes, a cursor for
each locking/unlocking command. Do we actually know that these cursors
will be in the same database session? If the command failed, do we know
that we would see an error?

ntpdate issue is a no show stopper, i agree, but its fully unused: even
setting 'update by network' i get time -7 (NY instead Paris)

No, my hypothesis doesn't look correct. We don't see anything that
would make prepare() jump into the reactor thread.

[Bug 1325175] Re: [systemd] journalctl

2014-06-02 Thread Martin Pitt
The "ntpdate" error message happens when "lo" (loopback interface) is
brought up, but at that time there is no "real" networking yet. I
suppose the method check in /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate does not work
under systemd. The other logs entries are separate issues, can you
please create separate bugs for those? Thanks!
