[Bug 1326003] Re: apparmor prevents libvirt from running pygrub
OK, this should not be hard to change. IIRC libvirt ships its own apparmor rules in Ubuntu. Just need to add pygrub. Must admit I have not looked into Xen PV guests started through libvirt. It used to be even more pain while using the xm toolstack. But that should not prevent us from improving the situation. I would prepare the change in Utopic and then we could SRU it back into Trusty. ** Also affects: libvirt (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1326003 Title: apparmor prevents libvirt from running pygrub To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1326003/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1286762] Re: Please add support to allow booting instances into Ceph rbd
Okay, I believe I have a solution. However no modifications are required for the ceph or ceph-osd charms. All modifications that needed to be made were made on nova-compute charm. I'm yet to test the patch to make sure it doesn't break other functionality (for example and specifically live-migration), however it can be used as a starting point. If any further modifications are required I'll update this bug. The problem is that in the current configuration the nova-compute charm is not configured to use a remote block device for libvirt-bin, which was a fairly trivial modification once I established that the ceph relationship hook was incomplete (specifically, the libvirt process did not have access to the key because of a permissions issues and a pool was not created on ceph for nova to utilise). This patch should be applied as patch -p1 < nova-compute-ceph-using-rbd- libvirt.patch ** Patch added: "Patch for nova-compute." https://bugs.launchpad.net/charms/+source/ceph/+bug/1286762/+attachment/4133878/+files/nova-compute-ceph-using-rbd-libvirt.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1286762 Title: Please add support to allow booting instances into Ceph rbd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nova/+bug/1286762/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Quoting myself: "I'm pretty new to Go, but it feels like there's a nice opportunity to use the type system to create a ShellScript type that can only be constructed from static strings and properly quoted arguments". I don't know why it took me until just today to think it through, but what bash (and Juju) are missing is an equivalent to SQL's prepared statements with placeholders. That is the class that Juju is missing, and if properly implemented, would doubtless be useful for the larger Go community beyond just Juju, though Juju would likely be the largest consumer. [Bug 1331081] [NEW] please split libvirt-driver apparmor abstraction for qemu and containers
Public bug reported: 1.2.5 introduces apparmor support for libvirt-lxc, which is great, however the method used renames the old /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu to libvirt-driver. This is problematic for a couple of reasons: 1. abstractions/libvirt-qemu contains policy specific to qemu VMs (ie, why would a container need '/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 rmix,'? 2. presumably likewise, container policy will be needed that shouldn't be given to qemu VMs Instead of using 'abstractions/libvirt-driver', we can instead either: * ship both 'abstractions/libvirt-qemu' and 'abstractions/libvirt-lxc', adjust the TEMPLATE to include neither, and adjust the apparmor driver to inject the proper abstraction based on the driver in use * ship both 'abstractions/libvirt-qemu' and 'abstractions/libvirt-lxc', ship two different templates (eg, TEMPLATE.qemu and TEMPLATE.libvirt-lxc), and adjust the apparmor driver to choose the proper template based on the driver in use ** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1331081 Title: please split libvirt-driver apparmor abstraction for qemu and containers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1331081/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hello Jose, or anyone else affected, Accepted open-vm-tools into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm- tools/2:9.4.0-1280544-5ubuntu6.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Bug 1331019] [NEW] allow setting fixed MAC addresses for juju created LXC containers
Public bug reported: Our environment requires stable IP addresses for LXC containers deployed to MAAS managed physical machines via juju. We are smooshing OpenStack infrastructure components (glance, cinder, rabbitmq-server, swift-proxy, ...) to 3 units each on 3 physical hosts for HA. HA enabled services using the hacluster charm require that we specify a virtual IP via config, but the IP of an LXC container comes from a pool no matter if MAAS is used for DHCP/DNS management or not. MAC addresses are randomized by default as well, using /etc/lxc/default.conf on the host machine. I suggest allowing the MAC address to be pre-allocated via config, such that IP and hostname can be pre-allocated via DHCP/DNS as well. [Bug 1274947] Re: juju lxc instances deployed via MAAS don't have resolvable hostnames
We also see this behaviour on LXC containers deployed to MAASified machines where MAAS does *not* manage DHCP/DNS. We are trying to smoosh OpenStack infra into LXC units on MAASified machines for HA. It is most visible with rabbitmq-server, which bails out on NXdomain for the unit. It's also reproducible by just trying to sudo: ubuntu@juju-machine-5-lxc-25:~$ sudo -i sudo: unable to resolve host juju-machine-5-lxc-25 What *could* help is to pre-allocate MACs for each LXC container, either inside or outside MAAS doesn't really matter, and inject them into the host machine via lxc.network.hwaddr, cf. http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man5/lxc.container.conf.5.html This would require that cloud-init/juju respect what they get from DHCP/DNS in terms of hostname... ** Attachment added: "rabbitmq-server charm hook error" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1274947/+attachment/4133307/+files/rabbitmq-server-error.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1274947 Title: juju lxc instances deployed via MAAS don't have resolvable hostnames To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1274947/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
