Re: [Bug 1292234] Re: qcow2 image corruption in trusty (qemu 1.7 and 2.0 candidate)
Hi Jamie, just to make sure, did you permanently disable ksm? Does cat /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/run still show 0? I've so far never seen a case where a reboot did not fix the issue, nor have I seen an issue (other than suspending the host sometimes causing the VM to hang so that I have to destroy it) with ksm disabled. I had hoped to do some large parallel upgrade tests this week, but network at linuxcon is not up to the task (even with apt-cacher-ng!) [Bug 1359938] [NEW] [FFE] request to update juju-quickstart to support JUJU env var
Public bug reported: We'd like to complete updating juju-quickstart to support a $JUJU env variable to help enable and aid CI and testing. This would allow the user to specify which Juju client to use which would open the doors to testing quickstart on one system against several versions of Juju. This does not require any changes to dependencies or functionality. The list of changes suggested include: - If $JUJU is set, use that for bootstrap on all systems that do not require juju-quickstart to be run with sudo (due to old LXC requirements) - If $JUJU is set and we are on an older LXC requiring sudo we output a warning and refuse to run against the $JUJU specified in the env variable. Work on this is in progress and can be seen at https://codereview.appspot.com/132770043/ This work is not complete, but should be ready soon and so we'd like to request a FFE to complete this work. ** Affects: juju-quickstart (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju-quickstart in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359938 Title: [FFE] request to update juju-quickstart to support JUJU env var To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju-quickstart/+bug/1359938/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1359946] [NEW] smbd spawns hundreds/thousands of processes
Public bug reported: Sometime in the past week, my server has started spawning hundreds (or even thousands) of smbd processes, driving the load average through the roof. [Bug 1359944] [NEW] [FFE] Update juju-quickstart to support MAAS as a configurable provider
Public bug reported: We have the goal this cycle of updating juju-quickstart to be able to build the environments.yaml block for MAAS as it can for local, ec2, hpcloud, etc. This work is not yet complete, but we'd like to request an exception to get it in. There is little risk that adding another provider will create issues for juju-quickstart users. We already support five providers and so this new one should not require any deep changes to the way quickstart operates. The changes required are - The first time you launch quickstart you'd see a new item in the new provider list, MAAS. - Selecting that needs to populate a form UI for entering all the provider specific information required by MAAS. - Saving that form updates your environments.yaml with the new provider block as it does for the others. - We do not currently believe that adding this provider will require fundamental changes in the way juju-quickstart works once the provider is available. We'll be looking to complete this work before the end of September and have the final juju-quickstart release ready one month before the release of Utopic. ** Affects: juju-quickstart (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju-quickstart in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359944 Title: [FFE] Update juju-quickstart to support MAAS as a configurable provider To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju-quickstart/+bug/1359944/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1357471] Re: Samba4 AD DC randomly dies, error: Did not manage to negotiate mandetory feature SIGN for dcerpc auth_level 6.
Guys, It is impossible to use Samba 4.1.6 from Ubuntu 14.04.1 as an AD DC in production. This is happening all the time: http://i.imgur.com/wDqOsy6.png I think that if you restart any Domain Controller, it will trigger this error on others DCs. Because I just restart my PDC (ubuntu-ad-1) and all BDCs dies. I just build an Ubuntu PPA Archive to provide Samba 4.1.11 for Trusty: http://launchpad.net/~martinx/+archive/ubuntu/ig - I'll test it today. Ubuntu needs a much, far much more serious Q.A. [Bug 1359946] Re: smbd spawns hundreds/thousands of processes
I think the recent change that caused this problem was where I told my router (a WRT54GL running Tomato) to start writing logfiles to a Samba share. greyhole --logs reported that the logfile was being held open. I turned off logging, rebooted the router, stopped Samba, made sure all its processes were dead (and that lsof no longer reported the logfile as being held open), and restarted Samba. Where the smbd process count would've previously gone up at a steady pace with many of them trying to take 100% CPU, the process count is now staying relatively low (about equal to the number of shares it's serving up) and the load average is staying low (currently 0.00). So now we know what's causing the problem and how to keep it from happening, but why is it a problem? Files held open by clients shouldn't cause this problem. Transmission, for instance, can keep downloaded files open for days or weeks at a time, but this only became a problem when I told my router to start writing logfiles. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359946 Title: smbd spawns hundreds/thousands of processes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1359946/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1358405] Re: cannot execute binary /usr/bin/kvm-img: No such file or directory
libvirt searches at startup for one of the kvm-img and qemu-img commands. If the kvm-img command goes away while libvirt is running, then it continues to try to use kvm-img, and this error occurs. Restarting libvirt is therefore a workaround. The kvm-img command has not existed since early in the trusty cycle. On a precise-to-trusty upgrade, libvirt will be restarted (preventing this error from being seen). The reason you saw it was that yo uupgraded from the saucy version, which is no longer spuported. I'll therefore mark this bug invalid. We could otherwise handle it by having qemu updates always cause a libvirt restart, but i don't believe that's warranted. ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1358405 Title: cannot execute binary /usr/bin/kvm-img: No such file or directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1358405/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
