[Bug 1370049] [NEW] mongodb build disables scripting instead of using libmozjs

2014-09-16 Thread Ben Collins
Public bug reported:

I'm unsure why disabling scripting was chosen in favor of using
SpiderMonkey (usesm). I can understand that maybe some architectures
have no java scripting engine, but the patch (0001-Add-option-to-
disable-javascript.patch) removes the option to use SpiderMonkey
altogether.

I think the patch in question needs to be rewritten so that some
architectures can usesm (e.g. powerpc) and others can disable scripting
altogether (arm64).

[Bug 1307778] Re: getent group on trusty returns only local groups

2014-09-16 Thread Fabrice Bongartz
For all those stuck with this issue. There's a real alternative to winbind,
sssd. The following guide should get you started:
https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/wiki/Configuring_sssd_with_ad_server
Using the realm command is especially easy.

Once a getent passwd administra...@domain.name returns something useful, this
can easily be integrated with samba, without using winbind. The smb.conf should
then include
   security = ads
   realm = GE.LAN
   kerberos method = secrets and keytab
in its [global] section.

[Bug 1330120] Re: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.

2014-09-16 Thread Robie Basak
If you're not running an Ubuntu system (including an Ubuntu kernel),
then you will need to take this up with your hosting provider, since it
is their customization that has broken things.

Alternatively, you could seek an upstream patch to remove the dependency
that facter has on /proc/interrupts existing.

Whichever way, I still don't think this is a valid bug in facter in
Ubuntu. Ubuntu provides /proc/interrupts.

[Bug 1349941] Re: qemu-ppc segfault on simple hello world

2014-09-16 Thread Mark Walker
I was having this same issue with qemu-ppc both the 2.0 version and a
handbuilt 2.1.0 version running on 14.04. By installing these packages
the error disappeared:

acl libaio1 libasound2 libasound2-data libasyncns0 libbrlapi0.6 libcaca0
libflac8 libogg0 libpulse0 librados2 librbd1 libsdl1.2debian libseccomp2
libsndfile1 libspice-server1 libvorbis0a libvorbisenc2 libxen-4.4
libxenstore3.0 libyajl2 sharutils

I'm not sure which one of the libvorbis/flac/ogg/asound packages fixed
it, but they were key for the segfault to go away.

I noticed based on the post from jrr that packages qemu-system-common,
qemu-keymaps, qemu-system-ppc, qemu-user-static pulled in those other
packages as deps and tried just installing the packages along with qemu-
user. Just wan'ted to add that to this post.

Note that currently qemu-system-x86 ships an init script named
qemu-system-x86 and an upstart job named qemu-kvm. These need to be made
consistent. On Ubuntu, we're currently running *both* of them at boot time.

I'm not convinced that it's better to name it qemu-kvm and put it in a
common package, than to have each native arch-specific package to ship its
own. These startup scripts are dead weight on other architectures, better
to optimize them out at package build time.

Perhaps, but if so then only as evidence of why we would not want to
try to officially support this - there are too many possible remaining

migration between 12.04 and 14.04 is reliable.

[Bug 1370123] [NEW] [Utopic] Xen HVM guests fail to start (MMIO emulation failed)

2014-09-16 Thread Stefan Bader
Public bug reported:

Using Utopic (14.10) as Xen host, any attempt to start a HVM guest
results in MMIO emulation failed and a triple fault.

The problem is that seabios version 1.7.5-1, from Debian drops support
for Xen in the 128K image. And this is compiled into Xen hvmloader at
build time. Luckily this can be worked around by picking the 256K image,

[Bug 1368403] Re: juju-deployer traceback AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_stat'

2014-09-16 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
Hello,

I did a trace back on this issue, and this is being raised by an non-
handled exception raised on the jujuclient package (not part of juju-
deployer). In particular the issue is being raised at this function:

357def get_state_server(self, data):
 358Given a list of state servers, return one that's listening.
 359found = False
 360for s in data['state-servers']:
 361if self.is_server_available(s):
 362found = True
 363break

Since data['state-servers'] has a None value the function just returns
None, and that causes that the 'AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no
attribute 'get_stat''. Jujuclient code has changed recently to Abstract
out the details of connecting to state servers, and that's the reason
nobody noticed this behavior on earlier versions.

As a side note, the 'data' dictionary comes from a read to the local
environment file ~/.juju/environments/name.jenv.

However, this appears to be a juju-core bug, since after bootstrap a
fresh environment, there is no 'state-servers' available on the
environment file, but after running a juju status those values seems to
be appended properly, that explains why after a 'juju status' this works
fine.

I don't think we should fix anything on juju-deployer/jujuclient for
now.

I opened a public juju-core reference bug LP:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/juju-core/+bug/1370149

bootstrap used to populate the jenv with state servers, i'll have
deployer execute api-endpoints prior to attempting to connect.

deployer does use the api, but it pre-dates most of it existing.
although i implemented api-endpoints for core, the problem is api-
endpoints is not sufficient if you want to securely connect (with cert
verification)

Verify ML2 type driver exists before calling del

Verifies that an ML2 type driver exists for a given
segment type before attempting to call the release_segment
method on it. Logs an error if a type driver is not
found.

This covers the case where a segment is created with
a given type and then ML2 is reconfigured without
support for that type.

DocImpact
The ML2 documentation should be updated with a warning
that disabling a network type driver and re-enabling
it later may lead to possible DB inconsistencies.
