[Bug 1379761] Re: Asset compression does not happen unless debug mode is enabled

2014-10-13 Thread Kieran Spear
What does the apache log say? Looks like your apache conf isn't allowing
access to the dir aliased to /static (and that looks like apache 2.2
rather than 2.4-style access control?).

[Bug 1380231] Re: Potential Vulnerability for X509 Certificate Verification

2014-10-13 Thread Jan Wagner
Right from the plugins documentation (--help) of the plugins:

Please note that this plugin does not check if the presented server
certificate matches the hostname of the server, or if the certificate
has a valid chain of trust to one of the locally installed CAs.

The question now is, how do you come to the conclusion, that the plugins
didn't check ... the expired date of the certificate.?

[Bug 1380516] [NEW] lxc-container-default-with-nesting profile should allow bind mounts under home

[Bug 1369386] Re: ipset_enabled = True default is not upgrade friendly

2014-10-13 Thread James Page
Last update into Ubuntu devel added the new dependency and installed the
rootwrap.d rules; this was a late change, but we can deal with it - it
would be nice if there was a good way to identify new external
dependencies such as this earlier in cycle, so potential impact points
can be identified and dealt with earlier by distro's etc...

[Bug 1380231] Re: Potential Vulnerability for X509 Certificate Verification

2014-10-13 Thread Jerry Zhang
Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, I don't think that we can reach this conclusion from the
analysis. I've deleted that in the report now. This happens because we
are using a template to report this kind of problems.

But about checking the hostname, are you going to act on it or you have
a reason for not doing so?

** Description changed:

Hostname verification is an important step when verifying X509
certificates, however, people tend to miss the step when using SSL/TLS,
which might cause severe man in the middle attack and break the entire
  TLS mechanism.

We believe that nagios-plugins-basic didn't check whether the hostname
- matches the name in the ssl certificate and the expired date of the
- certificate.
+ matches the name in the ssl certificate.

We found the vulnerability by static analysis, typically, a process of
verification involves calling a chain of API, and we can deduce whether the
communication process is vulnerable by detecting whether the process satisfies
a certain relation.
The result format is like this:
notice: Line Number@Method Name, Source File

We provide this result to help developers to locate the problem faster.

[Bug 1379201] Re: openvswitch-datapath-dkms 1.4.6-0ubuntu1.12.04.3: openvswitch kernel module failed to build [error: too many arguments to function ‘ip_select_ident’]

2014-10-13 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Omar, or anyone else affected,

Accepted openvswitch into precise-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/1.4.6-0ubuntu1.12.04.4
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: openvswitch (Ubuntu Precise)
Status: In Progress = Fix Committed

** Tags added: verification-needed

2014-10-13 Thread Chris J Arges
** Description changed:

+ SRU Justification:
+
+ [Impact]
+ Users can't use openvswitch DKMS package on precise/3.2.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1) install precise VM w/ 3.2
+ 2) sudo apt-get install openvswitch-datapath-dkms
+ 3) the module should build properly without failure
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ This patch ifdefs based on kernel versions to select the correct function for
that patchlevel. However because we only have 3 numbers in version.sh we may
fail for trusty-lts kernels before 015c969f and after 3.13.11.

[Bug 1380235] Re: Potential Vulnerability for X509 Certificate Verification

2014-10-13 Thread Jerry Zhang
** Description changed:

Hostname verification is an important step when verifying X509
certificates, however, people tend to miss the step when using SSL/TLS,
which might cause severe man in the middle attack and break the entire
  TLS mechanism.

We believe that spamc didn't check whether the hostname matches the name
- in the ssl certificate and the expired date of the certificate.
+ in the ssl certificate.

We don't have a POC because we didn't succeed in configuring this
software or don't know the way to verify the vulnerability. But through
the analysis of the source code, we believe it breaks the ssl
  certificate verfication protocol.

for more information about the importance of checking hostname:
  see http://people.stfx.ca/x2011/x2011ucj/SSL/p38-georgiev.pdf

  Thanks.

@vorlon

I've grepped through most DKMS packages and I also see that openswan-
modules-dkms is also affected by these upstream changes (and fails to
build for other issues), I'll create separate bug for this issue.

Closing the linux task for now as we can ifdef DKMS modules to handle
these changes.

tweaking DEBUG = True and re-running fixes this - so looks like

OK - so the difference in loading with DEBUG = True:

def get_file_and_storage(self, filename):
# TODO: the switch probably shouldn't be on DEBUG
if settings.DEBUG:
return self.get_file_from_finders(filename)
else:
return self.get_file_from_storage(filename)

file_from_finders == good
file_from_storage == bad - and a silent fail right now

as devstack uses the same local_settings which has DEBUG = False, I
suspect this is generally quite broken:

https://github.com/openstack-dev/devstack/blob/master/lib/horizon

My current thinking is to completely disable the file_from_storage
codepath in python-django-scss to workaround this problem.

Is this what you mean?

echo $SSH_AUTH_SOCK

That's as far as I got because Google would not tell me how to find the
socket value that was currently in use. Please tell me the command to
find the current socket value. I am eager to debug.

[Bug 1004243] [NEW] multipath installs not working

2014-10-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I started up a precise/netboot install using debian-
installer_20101020ubuntu136 and disk-detect/multipath/enable=true and
found that multipath support didn't appear to be working. That is to
say, both paths appeared as separate disks in the installer, and no
device-mapper devices were instantiated.

I dropped to a shell and discovered that /sbin/multipath fails to run:

BusyBox v1.18.5 (Ubuntu 1:1.18.5-1ubuntu4) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

~ # multipath
multipath: symbol lookup error: /lib/libmultipath.so.0: undefined symbol: dlopen

Note: this also seems to be the case in oneiric, though oneiric also has
a bug where it does not appear to have the dm-multipath module available
at install time.

The package

[Bug 1317958] Re: Right after installation, /var/log/apache2/error.log contains a stacktrace FATAL: password authentication failed for user maas

2014-10-13 Thread Gavin Panella
Observed again today. It results in 100s of lines of errors and
stack-traces in Apache's error.log. It would be good to fix this in
packaging, but we can also help in MAAS itself, by retrying in
start_up.py every second or two, and handling the exception ourselves.

A recent example of the error, running on Trusty, using packages from
trunk r3243:

[Bug 1359296] [NEW] Shutting down OpenVPN before umount network shares causes 120 second timeout on shutdown

2014-10-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I mount a few CIFS shares through a vpn - openvpn more specifically.

E.g. cifs entry in /etc/fstab

//vpn.domain.tld/Share/mnt/vpnShare  cifs
noauto,user,uid=1000,gid=1000,username=none,password=none,iocharset=utf8
0 0

(since I'm authenticated with vpn certs, I don't need
username/password... cifs server only listens to vpn addresses).

So, when I want to access the share then, I have a little bash script on
my desktop that I can just run:

#!/bin/bash
mount /mnt/vpnShare

That all works fine. However when I shut down, I have the problem that Kubuntu
shuts down OpenVPN BEFORE it umounts that vpn-mounted share.

So during shut down process it then tries to umount that share but
because openvpn is already stopped, that share is unresponsive. That
causes a 120 seconds timeout delay.

I think before shutting down OpenVPN first shares mounted through the
vpn should be umounted.

[Bug 1380751] [NEW] HA features in Juno depend on conntrack

2014-10-13 Thread Matt Kassawara
Public bug reported:

HA features in Juno appear to depend on conntrack. For example, in the
'l3.filters' rootwrap configuration file:

https://github.com/openstack/neutron/blob/proposed/juno/etc/neutron/rootwrap.d/l3.filters#L50-L51

Hopefully 12.04 and wheezy both get pygrub updates to support 14.04

A backport[0] or SRU[1] is probably suitable here (I'm not sure which).
Volunteers welcome. For a first step, we need to understand what version
of pygrub is needed, or what patch needs to be backported.
