[Bug 1403841] [NEW] libvirt snapshot does not save source in xml

2014-12-18 Thread krypton
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04.1 tls trusty

Using library: libvirt 1.2.2
Using API: QEMU 1.2.2
Running hypervisor: QEMU 2.0.0

When you create a snapshot through "virsh snapshot-create-as" when a virtual
machine is on,
then the source tag in the xml is changed.

But when you reboot the HOST, then the changes in the source tag are
discared (the old/previous source path is used again).

I'v reproduced this bug on a clean Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty with fully updated
packages.
Could not reproduce this on a 12.04 tls, so only 14.04 is affected (with
libvirt version 1.2.2)

Reproduce:

- Create VM  => vm.qcow2
- Create snashot (through snasphot-create-as) => snapshot.qcow2
- reboot the host
- now the old source path is used again => vm.qcow2

Did you compiled this manually? Could you try with the archive package

[Bug 1386144] Re: juju-core 1.20.11 is not packaged in Ubuntu

2014-12-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package juju-core - 1.20.11-0ubuntu0.14.04.1

---
juju-core (1.20.11-0ubuntu0.14.04.1) trusty; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release (LP: #1386144).
  * Packaging changes relating to new upstream release:
- d/control: add build dependency on lsb-release.
- d/control: new binary package juju-local-kvm for local KVM support
  (new in Juju 1.20).
- d/copyright: update for Juju 1.20.11.
- d/rules: adjust paths in upstream source corresponding to upstream
  move from Launchpad to Github.
- d/README.source: drop; repacking is no longer required.
  * Packaging bugfixes cherry-picked from Vivid:
- Build with a version of libgo5 that has the 64k PAGE_SIZE fix
  (LP: #1377325).
- d/control: add dbus dependency to juju-local (LP: #1343301).
- d/control: depend on lxc-templates as well as lxc, since lxc only
recommends lxc-templates so it isn't always brought in.
  * Cherry-pick changes from current upstream and Ubuntu development
release packaging. These aren't all strictly required for Trusty,
but given extensive production use of upstream's PPAs, this reduces
regression risk to end users by eliminating differences between this
Trusty SRU and what is already known to work well, as well as the
potential for mistakes because diffs exist:
- d/{rules,control}: generate mongodb dependency dynamically, as the
specific binary package name required differs on older releases.
- d/juju-core.bash-completion: drop unused code.
- d/control: recommend bash-completion.
- d/control: update other dependencies for Juju 1.20:
+ Bump golang-go build dependency version; this newer version is
already available on Trusty.
+ Bump minimum version of lxc dependency; this newer version is
already available on Trusty.
  * d/control: wrap-and-sort.

[Bug 1400394] Re: Unity8 fails to start applications under systemd init (cgmanager issue?)

2014-12-18 Thread Martin Pitt
Discussed on IRC again. cgmanager changes the systemd controller and
thus interferes with systemd. Also, in Ubuntu (not upstream or in
Debian), we have a systemd patch to put logind sessions into all cgroup
controllers (not just the systemd one) for supporting LXC user
containers, which would potentially collide with cgmanager again. So it
seems we can't really run them side by side, and UAL needs to call
either cgmanager's or systemd's API for cgroup creation.

** Changed in: cgmanager (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1403617] Re: gce datasource does not handle instance ssh keys

2014-12-18 Thread Daniel Watkins
We need to decide how we're going to handle this.

The GCE tooling (and therefore documentation) suggest that if instance-
level keys are supplied, then project-level keys are disregarded. Do we
want to mirror this?

I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, we already don't match the GCE
docs in the way we handle project-level keys so this may be a foolish
consistency. On the other hand, this is making our images even more
distinct from the GCE standards which is a Bad Thing (TM).

Also, if people are relying on setting instance-level SSH keys to
exclude project-level SSH keys, then not mirroring the GCE tooling might
make instances unexpectedly insecure.

[Bug 1402763] Re: Multicast traffic not propating correctly over linux bridge

2014-12-18 Thread James Page
Stephane

The network itself is pretty stock; the mtu on the switches is set to
9000; other than that its pretty much the standard cisco configuration
for the switch model.

I have the full details (but can't put them here :-)).

[Bug 1404039] [NEW] New upstream bugfix release 1.0.7 (LXC MRE)

2014-12-18 Thread Stéphane Graber
Public bug reported:

We have released LXC 1.0.7 upstream:
https://linuxcontainers.org/lxc/news

This will be the third upstream bugfix release to hit trusty. The
upstream changes are detailed at the URL above.

The MRE was reviewed by Martin Pitt here:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/technical-board/2014-April/001869.html

As for testing, this version went through both automated testing (all
the tests present in lxc-tests + the python3 API tests) as well as
manual testing done by myself, LXC contributors and LXC users who've
been building the git stable branch for a while now.

Vivid is now on the LXC 1.1 alpha branch which bugfixes for 1.0.7 have
been taken from. Alpha 3 of 1.1 which is in vivid contains all the fixes
of LXC 1.0.7.

[Bug 1403283] Re: [Security] BREACH vulnerability is not mitigated in default configuration

2014-12-18 Thread Thomas Ward
Additional notes:

Disabling HTTP-level compression by default is not a decent option to
solving this. Mitigation is mostly on an application level, then,
however there are third-party modules that can be included (in the
Universe binaries) which would add length hiding as a potential
mitigation method.

A more detailed description on this whole issue can be found here on my
blog, describing what BREACH is and possible mitigation methods. It
also provides three possible mitigation methods, one which can be done
already by default, one which can be done at application levels, and one
which can be done with a separate module. http://dark-net.net/?p=49 is
the blog post. (aggregated on planet.ubuntu.com)

[Bug 1404110] [NEW] [SRU] Wrong hint key in volume create function

2014-12-18 Thread Felipe Reyes
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

Heat uses 'scheduler hints' to instruct the cloud that some resources
need special treatment, for instance that two cinder volumes have to be
created on different backends.

Without this patch, cinder client is broken and hints aren't properly
formatted leaving without effect the hints sent.

[Test Case]

Use script test_scheduler_hints.py against cinder API v2, the request
sent will contain "scheduler_hints": {"same_host": "SOME_ID"} while the
service expects "OS-SCH-HNT:scheduler_hints": {"same_host": "SOME_ID"}

An example output can be found in the file test_scheduler_hints.log

[Regression Potential]

No regression expected. Currently the key is being discarded by the
service and this patch just format it properly
