Can those relationships be restored to Recommends in trusty-updates? (This delta doesn't need to be kept past Trusty.) We upgraded a server from Precise to Trusty this weekend and it was really confusing to track down why nobody could log in any more. I know it's been a while since the Trusty release, but given that Precise is around for two more years, I strongly suspect we're not the last people to upgrade a winbind-using Precise machine, and configuring samba correctly is confusing enough as it is. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1412909 Title: Please raise Suggests for lib{pam,nss}-winbind to Recommends in trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1412909/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify

[Bug 1414887] Re: dns query from localnetwork are blocked
Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy) included dnsmasq 2.66 or so. In dnsmasq 2.69 an important change was made which may be the cause of your problem. This change affects Ubuntu 14.10 and later, but not Ubuntu 14.04LTS (Trusty) which shipped with dnsmasq 2.68-1. The change is mentioned in the changelog (quoted below) and it should be obvious how this might be affecting you. Read the new dnsmasq manpage for a longer description of the local-service option. dnsmasq (2.69-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream. * Set --local-service. (closes: #732610) This tells dnsmasq to ignore DNS requests that don't come from a local network. It's automatically ignored if --interface --except-interface, --listen-address or --auth-server exist in the configuration, so for most installations, it will have no effect, but for otherwise-unconfigured installations, it stops dnsmasq from being vulnerable to DNS-reflection attacks. -- Simon Kelley si...@thekelleys.org.uk Tue, 4 Feb 2014 16:28:12 + ** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1414887 Title: dns query from localnetwork are blocked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1414887/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1414153] Re: qemu should not enable KSM on nested guests
FWIW, here is the systemd-virt-detect code used to detect if we are running on a virt platform. https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/master/src/shared/virt.c This would be the proper way to detect when using systemd, but we still need a bashy way of doing this with upstart. Hello Geoffrey, or anyone else affected, Accepted samba into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.1.6+dfsg- 1ubuntu2.14.04.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. [Bug 1414153] Re: qemu should not enable KSM on nested guests
Ok so that particular tool is packaged with the 'systemd' package. For example: ubuntu@vivid:~$ systemd-detect-virt -v kvm And it will return 0 if we're on a virt platform. This would be nice to use on vivid, but we don't really have a systemd script yet. So a few options: 1) Dep on systemd package, and run this program to check for virt in the upstart or init script. 2) Ensure upstart has the right bash equivalent and just check like that. 3) Properly add a systemd conf file to debian, and amend that properly... --chris -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1414153 Title: qemu should not enable KSM on nested guests To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1414153/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
