[Bug 1420648] [NEW] Client certificate verfication fails

2015-02-10 Thread Daniel Dickinson
Public bug reported:

If you use the option
auth_ssl_require_client_cert = yes

Then no matter how carefully you follow the documentation are all the
attempts provide support your clients (e.g. Thunderbird) will fail to
connect to the dovecot mail server. This issue does not with cyrus-imap
mail server.

I have investigated the code and believe I have found and fixed the
issue (the attached patch makes verification of client side SSL
certificates work for me, which is NOT true without the patch).

Basically the OpenSSL logic is wrong when it comes to setting up the
client side verification.

I have a DebDiff against Trusty that fixes the issue. (Attached).

** Affects: dovecot (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Patch added: "Fix client certificate verification fails for dovecot"

[Bug 1420647] [NEW] Please apply nofile limit fix of ceph-osd to trusty, utopic

2015-02-10 Thread Nobuto Murata
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Without this nofile limit fix, large ceph cluster fails to start or stops
handling requests.

[Fix]
Ceph upstream applied a new nofile limit(10x) to Giant+ releases (vivid in
Ubuntu repo).
https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/2156/files

[Test case]
Check that new nofile ulimit is properly applied as 32768 -> 327680:
$ cat /proc/$(pgrep -n ceph-osd)/limits | grep 'Max open files'

[Regression Potential]
minimal,
If we set 1M nofile ulimit, the daemon will fail to start due to the default
fs.nr_open value. However this time, we will apply 0.3M which should not cause
troubles.

[Bug 1420502] [NEW] ssh-copy-id doesn't copy the latest id file even though the documentation says it should

2015-02-10 Thread Eero
Public bug reported:

The man page says:

The default_ID_file is the most recent file that matches: ~/.ssh/id*.pub,
(excluding those that match ~/.ssh/*-cert.pub) so if you create a key
that is not the one you want ssh-copy-id to use, just use touch(1) on
your preferred key's .pub file to reinstate it as the most recent.

But when I run "ssh-copy-id USER@HOST" the script tries to copy my RSA
key even though the documentation suggests that the newer id_ed25519.pub
would be copied.

~$ ls -t1 .ssh/id*.pub
.ssh/id_ed25519.pub
.ssh/id_rsa.pub

~$ ssh-copy-id -n USER@HOST
/usr/bin/ssh-copy-id: INFO: attempting to log in with the new key(s), to filter
out any that are already installed
/usr/bin/ssh-copy-id: INFO: 1 key(s) remain to be installed -- if you are
prompted now it is to install the new keys
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Would have added the following key(s):

ssh-rsa REDACTED
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Specifying the correct key works.

~$ ssh-copy-id -n -i .ssh/id_ed25519 USER@HOST
/usr/bin/ssh-copy-id: INFO: attempting to log in with the new key(s), to filter
out any that are already installed
/usr/bin/ssh-copy-id: INFO: 1 key(s) remain to be installed -- if you are

[Bug 1419554] Re: Can't upgrade procps in LXC 1.1

2015-02-10 Thread Stéphane Graber
We have existing code in procps to ignore EACCES but not for EROFS, I'll
be pushing updates to all series to sort that out.

** Package changed: lxc (Ubuntu) => procps (Ubuntu)

** Also affects: procps (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Also affects: procps (Ubuntu Vivid)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: Confirmed

** Also affects: procps (Ubuntu Precise)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Also affects: procps (Ubuntu Utopic)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

+ == SRU ==
+ Rationale:
+ sysctl now fails with current LXC as files which shouldn't be written to in
containers are read-only. A previous fix applied to the EACCESS case as
returned by apparmor.
+
+ Text case:
+ start procps
+
+ Regression potential:
+ All EROFS write failures will now be ignored (an error is still logged) but
I can't think of a case where that'd be a bad thing.
+
+ Original bug report:
+
LXC 1.1 on vivid has started giving privileged containers a read-only
/sys, which prevents Ubuntu's procps Upstart job from starting. This
isn't normally too problematic, except that the weekend's procps SRU's
postinst tries to start the job and causes the upgrade to fail.

Disabling the procps postinst makes apt usable again.

http://serverfault.com/questions/666165/amavis-cronjob-throwing-an-
error-out-of-nowhere

Specifically this:
"It was part of a commit on Jan 30,
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/spamassassin/commits/190790, that likely
needs a has_ function for a can() if encapsulation if you aren't using the
latest trunk to avoid warnings.

Working on a patch now and a fix to the rules."

[Bug 1322682] Re: -D variables not honored

2015-02-10 Thread Brian Murray
For what I can tell this is still an issue with the version of autofs in
Vivid which will become Ubuntu 15.04 and also in the Debian version of
the package. Subsequently, it would be helpful if you were to submit
this bug to Debian.

Thanks!

[Bug 1417909] Re: Container fails to start with error mounting /sys/fs/cgroup

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher Townsend
Hey Serge,

Thanks for looking into this more and better documentation would be most
helpful.

I'm not really sure if it matters any more, but my python script does
indeed ask to load /usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf. Here is
the code snippet before I start adding custom config options:

container.load_config("/etc/lxc/default.conf")
container.load_config("/usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf")

At any rate, I'll add the sys automount in my config and be done with it
on my end.

Thanks again!

Your config includes /usr/share/lxc/config/common.conf, not
/usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf .

If you created a configuration using 'lxc-create', and that turned
out not forward-compatible, then I would consider that a bug. And
given the churn there has been recently I wouldn't be surprised if
there were such cases. However, if your config was hand-created,
then while I still consider this unfortunate, the newly increased
commonality between config layouts for different distributions is
worthwhile.

I wonder whether we can come up with a versioning/backup scheme for
configuration files to prevent this sort of thing in the future.
The trick is that for most containers we do want to take updated
configuration files, as that's the whole point.

Perhaps what we need, the real bug here, is better documentation
of what the *.$distro.* and *.common.* really mean and what a user
is safe to use.

[Bug 1411030] Re: backport support for unix domain sockets

2015-02-10 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to file this.

Normally this would not be possible as it would be a violation of our
stable release update policy
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates). Alternatives could be
the backports process (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports) or to
use a non-LTS release or wait for the next one.

But in this case this might warrant an exception, which would need
approval from our Technical Board. I'm just waiting for a decision from
my tech lead on whether we want to drive this.

Also confirmed, this makes using configuration management tools like
Ansible very problematic as they SSH will intermittently fail on some of
the connections.

[Bug 1417909] Re: Container fails to start with error mounting /sys/fs/cgroup

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher Townsend
Hi Serge,

Ok, I understand I can fix this issue by adding that line in my config.

However, my gripe now with this is that my configuration was working
with no issues prior to an update in LXC, then it broke for no apparent
reason. Why was it automounting /sys before and not now? Shouldn't
this be a default when pulling in
/usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf as I do in my config?

[Bug 997978] Re: KVM images lose connectivity with bridged network

2015-02-10 Thread Ramiro Varandas Jr
- Updating -

The problem came back today - the VM was running OK for more than 72
hours - and then the connectivity with the gateway was lost again.

Looking Martin's post #132, I was seeing some packets being dropped by
being incorrect. Applied the ethtool fix and also changed the driver to
e1000 and going to monitor it.

After applying the ethtool patch, I got no more dropped packets with
incorrect checksum.

2015-02-10 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in
the application being used for the package installation process.
Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state
and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating
this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service
apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package
again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this
one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1419554] Re: Can't upgrade procps in LXC 1.1

2015-02-10 Thread James Ascroft-Leigh
I'm getting exactly the same error scenario in a different environment.
I've had a setup working for months with:

  - Ubuntu Trusty LTS host
  - Ubuntu Trusty LTS guest
  - Libvirt from Trusty
  - LXC from Trusty (--connect lxc://)

I use debootstrap and chroot to prepare the base filesystem then I boot
using `virsh --connect lxc:// ...`. When I do `sudo apt-get dist-
upgrade` I get a non-zero exit code from procps failing to start as
above. Jenkins is not happy :(
