[Bug 1292648] Re: [SRU] cloud-init should check/format Azure empheral disks each boot
@Ben, Bug returns, the issue is still present in 0.7.5-0ubuntu1.3, when partitioning the ephemeral disk. Interestingly, a partitioning of form - [ 66, [33,82]] does return the bug (the whole /dev/sdb becomes ntfs after shutdown). Bug is persistent through resizing. - [ [ 33,82], 66] does not yield any problem at all. Persisten through resizing (resizing does not matter in this case). Maybe I did something wrong with the cloud config syntax, but that should not be the case. Still testing all scenario´s. Any idea of the strange situation? [Bug 1374166] Re: Document how to add swap space on Azure resource disk
@Daniel, The documentation is not okay: the swap partition (on the last part of a disk) will not persist through shutdown in Azure. The strange thing is: a) often a NTFS formatted ephemeral disk reoccurs when starting up after a shutdown, b) a swap partition on the FIRST part of a disk IS persistent through shutdown in Azure. Please shed a light on the above. [Bug 1022903] Re: [ARM] libnss-ldap misses softlink /lib/libnss_ldap.so.2
Indeed Trusty shipped with 264-2.2ubuntu4, but the bug was fixed in Debian in 264-2.4, so Trusty isn't expected to have the fix. However Vivid has 265-3ubuntu2, so marking this Fix Released. If you need a fix for Trusty, then an SRU may be possible here. But with such a simple workaround and few users affected, it's probably not worth it. If you disagree, please comment with a justification against https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#When and complete the steps at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure. I'd suggest running memtest86+ on your computer overnight or over a weekend; there are crashes from chrome, chromium-browser, gdb, software- center, apport-gtk, apt-check, oneconf-service. While many of the errors were in apt's libraries, making me suspect hard drive corruption there, that wouldn't explain all of them. So it might also be RAM. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. [Bug 1417937] Re: qemu appears to be built without CONFIG_NUMA defined
** Description changed: + === + SRU Justification + 1. Impact: openstack cannot use numactl to pin kvm to cpus + 2. Test case: ldd /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86* | grep numa + 3. Regression potential: this causes qemu to be build against libnuma. It should only enable users who wish to use numa to do so, though of course new code will be enabled so unepxected regressions are possible. + === + When running qemu-system-x86_64 -object memory-backend-file,prealloc=yes,mem- path=/dev/hugepages/libvirt/qemu,size=4096M,id=ram-node0,host- nodes=0,policy=bind I got the following error: "NUMA node binding are not supported by this QEMU" Looking at the qemu code, it appears that this means that the package was built without CONFIG_QEMU being defined. The "host- nodes=0,policy=bind" functionality is in use in OpenStack, and so it would be problematic if it is not supported in Ubuntu. One could argue that the NUMA functionality wasn't intentionally turned off (it was inherited from debian) and thus re-enabling it would be fixing a bug. [Bug 1421520] Re: package mariadb-client-5.5 '/usr/bin/innochecksum' needs to break/replace mysql-server-core-5.6 OR fix the binary/manpage mismatch in mysql
Otto, to confirm, what I've understood from this is to move /usr/bin/innochecksum and /usr/share/man/man1/innochecksum1 from mariadb-client-10.0 to mariadb-server-core-10.0. I'll push this to Debian VCS for MariaDB now. Then I can add a Breaks/Replaces on mysql-server-core-5.6 against mariadb-client-10.0 (< before_above_change). Sorry, this is very unlikely to happen in the official repositories. I suggest that users who want older software use an older release. 12.04 is supported until April 2017. If somebody wants to maintain a PPA which contains a forward port of Apache 2.2 to Trusty, then please feel free to do so, and advertise it here.
