[Bug 1392094] Re: golang is unavailable for arm64
Even the current patch headers are misleading: > Description: Add gccgo build support for Power > This patch is based on one that has been accepted upstream > in trunk with some minor additions to deal with the way > that the dh-golang helper works in Debian/Ubuntu. > Origin: https://github.com/docker/docker/pull/10665 The "Description" claims this patch is actually based on something that exists upstream, but nothing like that patch exists upstream, and the "Origin" linked is a very different patch (and was merged as part of the work towards getting GCCGO upstream). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to golang in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392094 Title: golang is unavailable for arm64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docker.io/+bug/1392094/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1392094] Re: golang is unavailable for arm64
I'm actually really concerned by this change (speaking as both a Debian maintainer on the package, and as the maintainer of the build scripts upstream). We're actively working upstream on getting proper first- class gccgo compilation support into Docker's build system (https://github.com/docker/docker/issues/9207 for the tracker upstream), but one of the things we've noticed is that just because it doesn't FTBFS doesn't mean it actually works. Have you run it against the upstream integration tests to at least get an initial verification that the daemon works as expected?

[Bug 1429938] [NEW] systemd changes behavior of apt-get remove openssh-server
Public bug reported: On Trusty and Utopic, when you run `apt-get remove openssh-server` over an SSH connection, your existing SSH connection remains open, so it's possible to run additional commands afterward. However, on Vivid now that the switch to systemd has been made, `apt- get remove openssh-server` closes the existing SSH connection immediately, causing your SSH client to exit with a non-zero status. I have a hunch there's a lot of automation tooling out there that relies on the old behavior. For what it's worth, this change breaks the internal image mastering tools that System76 uses. Prior to exporting an image tarball, I spin up a golden VM with qemu, rysnc a script to it, and then execute this script over SSH. The important step is that I need to remove openssh-server prior to shutting down the VM, so these scripts always end with something like this: apt-get -y purge openssh-server ssh-import-id apt-get -y autoremove shutdown -h now As far as I can tell, this behavior change will likewise be a problem when running `do-release-upgrade` on a remote server over SSH. Or more generally, anytime you run "apt-get upgrade/dist-upgrade" via SSH, it seems this would be a problem whenever the openssh-server package happens to be updated. ** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: systemd-boot vivid ** Tags added: systemd vivid ** Tags removed: systemd ** Tags added: systemd-boot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1429938 Title: systemd changes behavior of apt-get remove openssh-server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1429938/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1429849/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb): Installation media: Daily server (Vivid) 64bit Using the guided option to use the whole disk and LVM (did not try anything else, yet) brings up the dialog box about installing grub to the MBR at the end. However, despite selecting "yes" there, the installation is attempted to the first logical partition (which is the LVM PV), which fails (probably because of the failing safety check).
