[Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses

2015-04-20 Thread Björn Lundgren
I can confirm this is still an issue in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS using network-
manager-openvpn.

disabling dnsmasq does not fix the issue.

In my opinon this issue is critical since it renders the use of openvpn
practically useless through network manager gui.

Hello again, problem appeared on openSUSE 13.2 (x32) as client and Xubuntu
14.04.2 as a server.
debug1: expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_ECDH_REPLY

Seems like it is a server problem not a client.

[Bug 1444904] Re: mysql 5.6 segfault on audit plugin usage

2015-04-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Fixed in Vivid, which is on 5.6.24. I'll leave a Trusty task open.

Note that the Canonical server team is focused on MySQL 5.5 in Trusty,
which is the version in main. MySQL 5.6 in Trusty is in universe and not
supported by our team. Volunteers to help fix MySQL 5.6 in VIvid are
welcome - see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SponsorshipProcess if you are not
an uploader.

[Bug 1445973] Re: multipathd changes the underlying disks of mpathX devices when filesystems are mounted

2015-04-20 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
** Description changed:

  This is a critical bug.
An inconsistency in multipath bindings configuration between initramfs time
and init scripts time might crash the system and cause data corruption.

  Background:

When multipath and multipathd (multipath daemon) run, they can assign an
alias/user_friendly_name (mpathX) to each path group (group of underlying
devices with the same WWID) that they discover.
The actual alias used (e.g., mpath0, mpath1) for a WWID can be configured in
/etc/multipath/bindings (format: ).

- The problem is that multipathd can (and it does) reconfigure any in-use alias
to a different path group, even if the corresponding multipath device is
mounted (including the root filesystem).
+ The problem is that multipathd can (and it does) reconfigure any in-use alias
to a different path group, even if the corresponding multipath device is
mounted (including the root filesystem).
This is done with an "ACT_RELOAD " call to
that map.

If multipathd found that it should use a different alias than the one
currently being used (detected as "path group topology change"), it will simply
change the underlying devices of that alias.
The result is that on the surface the same map stills exists, but its
underlying disks (i.e., data) changed *totally*.

If the changed map is that of the root filesystem, you immediately get a
lot of filesystem errors (e.g., reads don't get the expected/correct
data) and likely data corruption (e.g., active writes/delayed flushes
to a certain mpathX disk happening when its underlying disks change).

The error is fixed by upstream commit "libmultipath: Use existing user
friendly name if possible" (not present on Ubuntu currently).

-
  Current problem:
  ---

- Ubuntu 15.04 is affected (including at first boot), because there's no
- /etc/multipath/bindings file present (nor in the root filesystem, thus
- nor in the initramfs).
+ Ubuntu 15.04 is affected (including at first boot), because (in addition
+ to lacking that commit) there's no /etc/multipath/bindings file present
+ (neither in the root filesystem, thus nor in the initramfs), which
+ creates the scenario for the following to happen:

When initramfs runs multipath, it assigns some aliases to the path
groups, but later, when init scripts run multipathd, it finds other
aliases should be used, and re-assigns different path groups to the
aliases (including that of the root filesystem).

Then, the system doesn't boot to the login prompt:

- [ OK ] Started LSB: multipath daemon.
- [ OK ] Started /etc/rc.local Compatibility.
- [ OK ] Started D-Bus System Message Bus.
- [ 18.321464] EXT4-fs error (device dm-19): ext4_iget:3898: inode

[Bug 1403617] Re: gce datasource does not handle instance ssh keys

2015-04-20 Thread Dan Watkins
smoser and I had a conversation in #cloud-init about this on Friday.

Our conclusion was that we should mirror what the cloud vendor is doing
(i.e. ignore project-level keys if instance-level keys are specified).

We also discussed how we could configure an instance in a project _with_
SSH keys to start _without_ any SSH keys. smoser proposed (a) using the
presence of the empty string in the instance sshKeys metadata value. He
also noted that (b) creating a fresh key, attaching it as an instance-
level SSH key and instantly shredding it would also give the desired
behaviour.

I think that this requirement is uncommon enough that (b) should
suffice. Furthermore, I can imagine (a) breaking automation that would
work with just GCE's daemons (as they just ignore the empty string).

"virsh nodeinfo" shows wrong NUMA topology:

:~$ virsh nodeinfo

CPU frequency: 1400 MHz
CPU socket(s): 1
Core(s) per socket: 64
Thread(s) per core: 1
NUMA cell(s):1
Memory size: 528376144 KiB

but it should be "NUMA cell(s): 8".

I'm running a 3.13.0-48-generic equipped with _four_ physical AMD
Opteron 6282 SE to a Supermicro H8QG6-F. libvirt-bin version:
1.2.2-0ubuntu13.1.10

NUMA ctl gives me eight cells:

  7: 22 16 22 16 22 16 16 10

As well as lstopo is resulting in eight NUMA cells (see attached
picture).

But "virsh nodeinfo" shows only only NUMA cell with one socket with 64
CPUs (single threaded). Performance of virtualized machines on this host
is very bad.

I think it has something to do with the identical core_ids per physical
socket and module.

[Bug 1437846] Re: akonadi mysql 5.6 crash with signal 11

2015-04-20 Thread Norvald H. Ryeng
In both error logs, I see this sequence (with varying timestamps and seq
numbers, of course):

2015-03-29 15:03:37 2265 [Note] InnoDB: The log sequence numbers 10740390801
and 10740390801 in ibdata files do not match the log sequence number
11404279789 in the ib_logfiles!
2015-03-29 15:03:37 2265 [Note] InnoDB: Database was not shutdown normally!
2015-03-29 15:03:37 2265 [Note] InnoDB: Starting crash recovery.

I think that's the core of the problem. 5.5 was not shut down properly
before upgrading, so it's left to 5.6 to try to recover. For some reason
it can't, and it crashes.

[Bug 1320709] Re: incorrect info in /usr/share/doc/awstats/README.Debian.gz about logrotate

2015-04-20 Thread Marius Gedminas
BTW awstats 7.3 currently in Debian unstable uses 'su -l -c ... www-
data' in
http://sources.debian.net/src/awstats/7.3%2Bdfsg-1/debian/prerotate.sh/,
which is installed as /etc/logrotate.d/httpd-prerotate/awstats.

Eventually that version will be synced into Ubuntu.

2015-04-20 Thread Scott Moser
The smartOS datasource just never got enabled in ubuntu packaging.
It seems that it should be safe to do so as the datasource checks for existance
of the serial device (/dev/ttyS1) and also checks for 'smartdc' in the
system-product-name field of dmidecode.

[Bug 543148] Re: Private Archive Permissions Are Incorrect

2015-04-20 Thread Bryan Richter
Heh, after my last command, public archives were no longer available
through apache. These *two* command should fix everything up:

sudo chgrp -R list /var/lib/mailman/archives/private
sudo chown www-data /var/lib/mailman/archives/private

The fix, I think, would involve making sure
/var/lib/mailman/archives/private is instantiated with www-data:list
ownership, and rwxrws--- permissions.

[Bug 1444057] Re: gdb remote target of a guest VM fails to continue

2015-04-20 Thread Chris J Arges
I measured bootup times on an idle host by rebooting a VM and logging the same
event in dmesg 15 times. Before it took an average of 9.8934s w/ stdev of 0.32.
After installing the new version it took 9.8159s w/ stdev of 0.34.

In addition before the total size of /usr/bin/qemu-system-* was 136878083 after
it was 135008515.

So it seems that size of binaries decreases, while enabling more functionality.
In addition, boot times seem comparable but it isn't definitively slower or
faster.

So I have the same problem after an innocent "apt-get dist-upgrade" today.

Have we lost all our emails in KMail because of this, or can something
be done to get it working again?

One thing to note going through the config file. With --enable-debug we
no longer use -O2 for CFLAGS.

[Bug 1446448] [NEW] ssh-agent terminates

2015-04-20 Thread Andrej Ricnik
Public bug reported:

I have set-up password less ssh connectivity for my workstation. ssh-
agent gets started via keychain when fluxbox boots.

When I use ssh to connect to a server, and then use scp to shuffle a
file from that server to my workstation the ssh-agent on my workstation
dies after the file was transferred.

This has started happening after the upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04.

I have wrapped strace into the fluxbox startup to keep an eye on ssh-
agent (I initially didn't see a pattern to the sudden death), here's an
example of the breakdown post transfer.
