2015-06-01 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
The attachment "rabbitmq-sync-systemd.patch" seems to be a debdiff. The
ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they
can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a
patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the
"patch" tag, and if you are member of the ~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe

[Bug 1460164] Re: upgrade of openvswitch-switch can sometimes break neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent

2015-06-01 Thread James Page
This is caused by the restart of the ovs daemons (part of the upgrade
process - its done post install to minimize downtime):

2015-05-28 14:24:18.336 47866 ERROR neutron.agent.linux.ovsdb_monitor
[-] Error received from ovsdb monitor: ovsdb-client:
unix:/var/run/openvswitch/db.sock: receive failed (End of file)

I would suspect that the code in neutron is not behaving very nicely in
terms of recovering from this disconnect, resulting the in the lockup
you see.

[Bug 1460588] [NEW] Package depends on obsolete apache2 binary packages

2015-06-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb):

apache2-mpm-prefork was previously a transitional package and now no
longer exists, so ltsp-cluster-control becomes uninstallable on wily.
This is blocking the newest apache2 from migrating to wily.

Please remove the dependency on apache2-mpm-prefork.

An even better option is to use dh-apache2 as documented at
https://wiki.debian.org/Apache/PackagingFor24#Web_Applications_in_a_nutshell_.28with_dh_apache2.29

Then you can just Recommend: apache2, allowing users greater flexibility
if they configure apache2 themselves (without the apache2 package) or
want to use another web server.

Milestoning for 15.07 so I can work on the new apache2 in time for Wily
feature freeze.

If I get time I'll look into this myself, so please coordinate here.

Thanks.

[Bug 1460259] Re: Incorrect dependency for openvswitch-pki in trusty updates

2015-06-01 Thread Colin Watson
This was a casualty of an infrastructure incident that went on long
enough to trip over a few "should never happen" conditions elsewhere,
causing a few architecture-independent packages to get lost from the
archive index files. I've restored this now, so openvswitch-pki should
be installable again.

2015-06-01 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu.

Specifically, as you have deleted /etc/apache2/mods-available/php5.conf
and php5.load, apache2 cannot be expected to start.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem

The wiki page has a pretty comprehensive description of how you can add
a swap partition using cloud-init configuration, including a full
configuration that will actually do it at the bottom of the page, so I'm
not really sure how you're drawing that conclusion.

That said, if that documentation doesn't apply to your case or is in
some way unclear, please let me know and I'll do my best to amend it. :)

[Bug 1374166] Re: Document how to add swap space on Azure resource disk

2015-06-01 Thread trialotto
Daniel,

Defining swap with cloud-config will not result in a persistent swap
space across shutdown and restart sequences on Azure.

In general, the cloud-config disk setup and/or filesystem stanza will
not result in a persisting ext4 ephemeral disk in before mentioned
sequences, in which the ephemeral disk often (but strangely, not always)
returns to ntfs format.

The above suggests (on the one hand) an impossibility to use ephemeral
disk space for swap purposes and (on the other hand) a bug in the Azure
fabric, causing defined swap spaces to be lost when returning to the
ntfs format.

Naturally, an added (non-ephemeral) disk can be used for swap purposes,
but this is not adviceable.

Furthermore, configuring the waagent.conf variables
"ResourceDisk.Format=y" would resolve the Azure fabric issue.

In conclusion, cloud-init and the Azure fabric are not really
interacting properly, with respect to swap spaces.

Any advances on the cloud-init front?

Kind regards...

[Bug 1455773] Re: mysql will not start after 5.5 to 5.6 upgrade

2015-06-01 Thread km
Can't be sure, but I think its a general problem. If you want to try and
reproduce it try:

* Start with 14.04 with mysql server installed, configured, and running.
* /etc/apparmor.d should contain a profile file usr.sbin.mysqld
* Do the upgrade first to 14.10 and then to 15.04
* When doing the upgrades you will be asked if you want to supply a password
for mysql server. Just say continue
(motivation, you are not trying to change mysqld password)
* check /etc/apparmor.d. If it has the old usr.sbin.mysqld (and an uninstalled
dist file) you have hit the "bug"

The old apparmor (5.5) profile cannot work with the updated (5.6)
mysqld.

[Bug 1374166] Re: Document how to add swap space on Azure resource disk

2015-06-01 Thread Dan Watkins
Hi trialotto,

Could you confirm what version of cloud-init you are using? Recent
versions detect when a reformatted ephemeral disk is presented and will
always reformat it (I have just confirmed this with an Ubuntu trusty
instance).

Also, "ResourceDisk.Format=y" only allows you to specify a single
partition to create; cloud-init allows you to configure the disk how you
want. :)

[Bug 1455773] Re: mysql will not start after 5.5 to 5.6 upgrade

2015-06-01 Thread Robie Basak
> If it has the old usr.sbin.mysqld (and an uninstalled dist file) you
have hit the "bug"

By "uninstalled dist file", do you mean usr.sbin.mysqld.dpkg-dist? I
expect your scenario to occur if the user previously modifies the
apparmor profile. In this case, on upgrade, the user should be prompted
to merge customisations manually and asked whether to use the old or new
file. In the case of a non-interactive upgrade, the old file will be
used, and the new one left renamed so that the user can fix it later
manually.

If the old file is used, then you will hit the issue you've described,
but this isn't a bug because Debian policy says that old customised
configurations must not be blindly clobbered and we have no finer-
grained way to bring forward those customisations.

Your report said (automatically generated by apport):

modified.conffile..etc.apparmor.d.usr.sbin.mysqld: [modified]
mtime.conffile..etc.apparmor.d.usr.sbin.mysqld: 2013-08-18T11:48:56.903852

So I think this is exactly what happened to you when you or some script
changed the old apparmor profile back on 18 August 2013. So I'll mark
this bug Invalid on that basis.

2015-06-01 Thread Ben
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my server to 15.04, I noticed that the powernap service
was failing to start. To get it working, I had to make the following
changes:

/lib/systemd/system/powernap.service :
Change 'network.service' on the Requires/After lines to 'network.target'

(n.b. no idea if this is correct, I am a systemd newbie, but systemd was
complaining about the use of network.service)

/usr/share/powernap/powernap-ethtool :
Fix the path of ethtool - this file refers to /usr/sbin/ethtool but it exists
in /sbin/ethtool on my server

After these changes, powernap now seems to start up correctly.

Minor feature improvements
--

New CentOS Release support.
Further to the work done in the 1.7.0 MAAS Release, MAAS now supports
uploading various versions of CentOS. Previously MAAS would only
  officially support 6.5.

Power Monitoring for Seamicro 15000, Cisco UCS and HP Moonshot Chassis
Further the work done in the 1.7.0 MAAS release, it now supports power
query and monitoring for the Seamicro 15000 Chassis, the Cisco UCS
Chassis Manager and the HP Moonshot Chassis Manager.

Node Listing Page and Node Event Log live refresh
The Node Listing page and the Node Event Log now have live refresh
every 10 seconds. This allows MAAS to display the latest node status
and events without forcing a browser refresh.

IP Address Reservation
The static IP address reservation API now has an optional "mac"
parameter. Specifying a MAC address here will link the new static IP
to that MAC address. A DHCP host map will be created for the MAC
address. No other IPs may be reserved for that MAC address until the
  current one is released.

verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

The following packages were tried as well: libnuma1 2.0.9~rc5-1ubuntu3
and numactl 2.0.9~rc5-1ubuntu3

In all cases the test failed. The efix for 14.04.1 provided by Thierry
Fauck worked but it was not used in 14.04.02

/sys not mounted when it find a non existent cpu number, and that's the

Has this patch been accepted by maintainers? The Canonical status is fix
released. Is there a fix that should be pulled and tested?

[Bug 1374166] Re: Document how to add swap space on Azure resource disk

2015-06-01 Thread trialotto
Daniel,

You are very likely to be correct, I saw the specific code (for recent
versions of cloud-init) and it should be able to reformat disks.

Questions are:

- is the swap created after or before the reformat? (Note: a reformat removes
the characteristic "persistent" from persistent swap)
- is the Azure VM image running the most appropriate and/or recent cloud-init
version?

It often has been the problem that cloud-init versions on Azure Ubuntu
VMs are not really up-to-date.

However, I will try to test which issues occur (if any), after thursday
though.

Kind regards

That's not a problem with the patch. That's bash telling you it can't
find the patch in the place you told it to look :)
