[Bug 1487316] [NEW] MAAS doesn't report disk size of VM correctly
Public bug reported: I have a MAAS running in a VM, LAN is bridged. I created another VM using virt-manager, with CPU 1, RAM 1G, disk 8G and PXE booted it from MAAS. I have configured the power type as libvirt and added necessary credentials to MAAS so it can remote control libvirtd via ssh. Enlisting, commissioning, and deploying works. However, MAAS reports the disk size as 1G even though it is 8G. This bug was fixed in the package openssh - 1:6.9p1-1 --- openssh (1:6.9p1-1) unstable; urgency=medium * New upstream release (http://www.openssh.com/txt/release-6.8): - sshd(8): UseDNS now defaults to 'no'. Configurations that match against the client host name (via sshd_config or authorized_keys) may need to re-enable it or convert to matching against addresses. - Add FingerprintHash option to ssh(1) and sshd(8), and equivalent command-line flags to the other tools to control algorithm used for key fingerprints. The default changes from MD5 to SHA256 and format from hex to base64. Fingerprints now have the hash algorithm prepended. An example of the new format: SHA256:mVPwvezndPv/ARoIadVY98vAC0g+P/5633yTC4d/wXE Please note that visual host keys will also be different. - ssh(1), sshd(8): Experimental host key rotation support. Add a protocol extension for a server to inform a client of all its available host keys after authentication has completed. The client may record the keys in known_hosts, allowing it to upgrade to better host key algorithms and a server to gracefully rotate its keys. The client side of this is controlled by a UpdateHostkeys config option (default off). - ssh(1): Add a ssh_config HostbasedKeyType option to control which host public key types are tried during host-based authentication. - ssh(1), sshd(8): Fix connection-killing host key mismatch errors when sshd offers multiple ECDSA keys of different lengths. - ssh(1): When host name canonicalisation is enabled, try to parse host names as addresses before looking them up for canonicalisation. Fixes bz#2074 and avoids needless DNS lookups in some cases. - ssh(1), ssh-keysign(8): Make ed25519 keys work for host based authentication. - sshd(8): SSH protocol v.1 workaround for the Meyer, et al, Bleichenbacher Side Channel Attack. Fake up a bignum key before RSA decryption. - sshd(8): Remember which public keys have been used for authentication and refuse to accept previously-used keys. This allows AuthenticationMethods=publickey, publickey to require that users authenticate using two _different_ public keys. - sshd(8): add sshd_config HostbasedAcceptedKeyTypes and PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes options to allow sshd to control what public key types will be accepted (closes: #481133). Currently defaults to all. - sshd(8): Don't count partial authentication success as a failure against MaxAuthTries. - ssh(1): Add RevokedHostKeys option for the client to allow text-file or KRL-based revocation of host keys. - ssh-keygen(1), sshd(8): Permit KRLs that revoke certificates by serial number or key ID without scoping to a particular CA. - ssh(1): Add a "Match canonical" criteria that allows ssh_config Match blocks to trigger only in the second config pass. - ssh(1): Add a -G option to ssh that causes it to parse its configuration and dump the result to stdout, similar to "sshd -T". - ssh(1): Allow Match criteria to be negated. E.g. "Match !host". - ssh-keyscan(1): ssh-keyscan has been made much more robust against servers that hang or violate the SSH protocol (closes: #241119). - ssh(1), ssh-keygen(1): Fix regression bz#2306: Key path names were being lost as comment fields (closes: #787776). - ssh(1): Allow ssh_config Port options set in the second config parse phase to be applied (they were being ignored; closes: #774369). - ssh(1): Tweak config re-parsing with host canonicalisation - make the second pass through the config files always run when host name canonicalisation is enabled (and not whenever the host name changes) - ssh(1): Fix passing of wildcard forward bind addresses when connection multiplexing is in use. - ssh-keygen(1): Fix broken private key conversion from non-OpenSSH formats. - ssh-keygen(1): Fix KRL generation bug when multiple CAs are in use. * New upstream release (http://www.openssh.com/txt/release-6.9): - CVE-2015-5352: ssh(1): When forwarding X11 connections with ForwardX11Trusted=no, connections made after ForwardX11Timeout expired could be permitted and no longer subject to XSECURITY restrictions because of an ineffective timeout check in ssh(1) coupled with "fail open" behaviour in the X11 server when clients attempted connections with expired credentials (closes: #790798). This problem was reported by Jann Horn. - SECURITY: ssh-agent(1): Fix weakness of agent locking (ssh-add -x) to password guessing by implementing an increasing failure delay, storing a salted hash of the password rather than the password itself and using a timing-safe comparison function for verifying unlock attempts. This problem was reported

[Bug 1470890] [NEW] [SRU] cc_apt_configure does not understand regions
You have been subscribed to a public bug: [Impact] In GCE, we want to deploy Ubuntu mirrors per-region. At the moment, it is impossible to configure cloud-init to look for mirrors with the instance's region substituted in to the mirror DNS name. This will allow us to do so, which will allow us to improve the experience for Ubuntu users on GCE, both in terms of mirror responsiveness and bandwidth costs. [Test Case] On GCE, specify a primary mirror search URL of "http://%(region)s.gce.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/" and run cloud-init. When running 'apt-get update', you should see a mirror URL which matches the above with the instance's region substituted in. [Regression Potential] There are two existing substitutions for mirror strings: availability_zone and ec2_region. We will need to ensure that each of these can still be used (testing specifically on EC2 for the latter). [Original Report] In _get_package_mirror_info (in cloudinit/distros/__init__.py), there is code that specifically handles converting EC2 availability zones to their corresponding regions. This won't work for other clouds that don't have the same form for availability zones (and even if they _do_, they'll have to be configured using strings containing 'ec2'; weird), which is problematic. This is particularly a problem for GCE. ** Affects: cloud-init Importance: High Assignee: Dan Watkins (daniel-thewatkins) Status: In Progress ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [SRU] cc_apt_configure does not understand regions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1485685] [NEW] Users are prompted on upgrade of cloud images
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb): Steps to reproduce (use case): 1. Fire up a Trusty cloud image. 2. Run: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade Steps to reproduce (developer): 1. Fire up an older image that does not contain the newest grub2 SRU. Example: http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/trusty/20150706/trusty-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img. I'm using "uvt-kvm create --backing-image-file trusty-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img testvm" to do this. 2. Run: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade Expected results: completes without prompts. Actual results: prompts the user for input to resolve a "manually" changed /boot/grub/menu.lst. User impact: this messes up automation; it is a common use of cloud images for users to automate their server deployments which generally involves running a dist-upgrade and then bootstrapping some kind of configuration management system. This means that we cannot SRU grub2 without breaking some set of users in a fairly common use case of cloud images until users start using newer images with the new SRU'd grub2 rolled in. Workaround: users can use something like: apt-get update && UCF_FORCE_CONFOLD=1 apt-get -y dist-upgrade. Note that to avoid prompts in various other cases users should also set DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive, run apt-get with -o Dpkg::Options ::="--force-confdef" -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-confold" and consider redirecting stdin from /dev/null. Investigation: I noticed that running "sudo update-grub-legacy-ec2" before dist-upgrade works around the problem. This is because ucf updates the entry for /run/grub/menu.lst in /var/lib/ucf/hashfile, at which point it doesn't believe that the configurable snippet in menu.lst has changed locally in a future run. I suspect that menu.lst is being changed without ucf being updated in the image build process. Line 421 "_xchroot "${rootd}" /usr/bin/ucfr --purge grub /var/run/grub/menu.lst" in vmbuilder-cloudimg-fixes (r699) looks like it works around the issue, but I don't think the workaround is working because calling "/usr/bin/ucfr --purge grub /var/run/grub/menu.lst" doesn't clear the entry from /var/lib/ucf/registry after the instance is launched either. It seems that ucfr is normalising the path to /run/grub/menu.lst but the registry stores the denormalised path so it fails to match. ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: Triaged ** Tags: bot-stop-nagging -- Users are prompted on upgrade of cloud images https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1485685 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to the bug report. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1487039] [NEW] ARM Asterisk Failures Repeating Causing High CPU Usage
Public bug reported: Working from an ODroid XU4 with Ubuntu 15.04 and Kernel 4.2 Somewhat-off-topic: I actually had been attempting to build some packages from source, but they were failing. They were nginx and pjproject (for asterisk) regarding "dereferencing" an "incomplete type" in reference to ssl stuff. Openssl was already installed, so I built my own latest git master version and there was no change in the result, even after setting LDFLAGS. When I first encountered it with nginx, I posted to their forum, and then when it happened with pjproject, I amended my forum post to add that and suggest it MAY be an openssl issue. I just don't know. Return-to-topic: So knowing I couldn't build pjproject, I opted to install the port via Ubuntu's port using apt-get. No problems installing, but having "htop" running, I saw some notable unusual activity and watching journalctl live, it was being flooded by asterisk warnings/errors and the service restarting automatically. I will add that the ODroid release of Ubuntu had the log flood with pulseaudio failing to load a module, so I commented out that 44100hz module to silence that issue. So I don't know if audio is a related issue to asterisk's module-loading failures. [Bug 1486107] Re: package openssh-server 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
I'm having similar problems with this package on 2 different servers. When updating, dpkg hangs on the post install script of the openssh- server package. The process becomes defunct and stops responding. I edited the /var/lib/dpkg/info/openssh-server.postinst file and adjusted set -e to set -x to see the output. When running dpkg --configure -a, it hangs again when trying to restart the SSH service: + [ -d /run/systemd/system ] + [ -x /etc/init.d/ssh ] + [ ! -e /etc/init/ssh.conf ] + [ -n 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2 ] + _dh_action=restart + invoke-rc.d ssh restart This step just never happens. The problem is the same on both servers, the ssh restart step hangs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1486107 Title: package openssh-server 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1486107/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1486865] [NEW] Sync rrdtool 1.5.4-5 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
Public bug reported: Please sync rrdtool 1.5.4-5 (main) from Debian unstable (main) Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped: * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes: - Updating to lua 5.2 version: - debian/rules: build 5.2 version, use autoconf. - debian/control: update lua to 5.2 version, added autoreconf. - debian/liblua5.2-rrd0.install: updated path to 5.2 version. - debian/liblua5.2-rrd-dev.install: updated path to 5.2 version. - debian/patches/rrdtool-1.4.7-lua-5.2.patch: fixes for lua 5.2 version. - Enable verbose build. - Stop building the librrd-ruby1.8 transitional package. Hi. New debian version support lua5.2 out of the box. See new binary package lua-rrd and lua-rrd-dev. (lua5.3 is there too) The is no Ubuntu reverse dependency on Ubuntu-specific packages liblua5.2-rrd-dev and liblua5.2-rrd0, so adding transitionnal packages in Ubuntu is not really necessary (If someone has time to make them, that would be nice however). The other Ubuntu changes (verbose build and drop of librrd-ruby1.8) are now in Debian. Changelog entries since current wily version 1.4.8-1.2ubuntu1: rrdtool (1.5.4-5) unstable; urgency=medium * Removed Multi-Arch:no. Partial support due to #117142. Lintian override for python debug symbols (See #795275). * Enabled perl-shared unit tests. * Refreshed lua patches headers: Applied-Upstream. -- Jean-Michel Vourgère Fri, 14 Aug 2015 15:26:41 +0200 rrdtool (1.5.4-3) unstable; urgency=medium * Added new patches to support lua5.2. Thanks Yolanda Robla. * Switched building of lua, perl, python and ruby bindings packages to use debhelper specific buildsystems: - Created packages lua-rrd and lua-rrd-dev, providing support for both lua 5.1 and 5.2. The old packages are now transitional. Added dependency on dh_lua. - Adjusted cleaning, installing and testing to these systems. * Force LC_ALL during the build; Re-enabled rpn2 unit test. * Enabled rrdcached unit test. * d/control: Dropped pre-Jessie transitions. * Dropped unused lintian overrides. -- Jean-Michel Vourgère Wed, 12 Aug 2015 17:23:20 +0200 rrdtool (1.5.4-2) unstable; urgency=low * Force UTF-8 encoding and UTC timezone on build. * patches/breaks-long-man-lines: Force UTF-8. * New patch 7digits to limit precision in unit test success checks. -- Jean-Michel Vourgère Sun, 09 Aug 2015 22:58:54 +0200 rrdtool (1.5.4-1) unstable; urgency=low * Added myself in uploaders. * Update d/watch to look dirrectly at github. * New upstream version: - Fixes json output (Closes: #686825) - Fixes rrdupdate duplicate paragraph in man (Closes: #603507) - Adds support for floating point values with DERIVE, COUNTER with new datasource types: DCOUNTER and DDERIVE.
