Another reproducer script to try. Make sure you don't have NSCD

[Bug 1377130] Re: Crash at creation of bcache if caching size backing size

2015-08-25 Thread Ryan Harper
I can't reproduce this on vivid w.r.t the hang.

For the release all the devs used in bcache setup; it's certainly
awkward. Fundamentally, there's no path in sysfs that contains both the
cache devs and the backing devs. And AFAIK, there is no way to know
that the bcacheX devices is being cached by a specific cache set
(/sys/fs/bcache/$UUID).

It's certainly possible to release all of the devices, but it does take
some care:

[Bug 1488567] [NEW] Samba 4.1.6 Panic with Trusty 14.04.3 LTS

2015-08-25 Thread Andre Schlegel
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Release:14.04

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 26738 (/usr/sbin/smbd).

This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows
the state of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log
files may contain additional information about the problem.

If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the
samba-dbg package, which contains the debugging symbols for the Samba
binaries. Then submit the provided information as a bug report to
Ubuntu by visiting this link:

2015-08-25 Thread Thomas Ward
Simon:

Please reread comment #4 here -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1315426/comments/4

The decision on SRU stands because of the reasons stated there, with
agreement from the Server and Security teams to that effect. We will
not be SRUing these changes, because the agreement is that they don't
bring any significant additional improvements (nor does it fix any real
bugs which would impact security status of the package in older
releases).

[Bug 1487928] Re: please upload 1.5 final packages

2015-08-25 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
My concern isn't so much in that these binaries come with the source --
it sounds suboptimal, but it's not quite as bad as shipping binary blobs
we haven't built ourselves...

That's the main issue I have with it and with removing the line from
rules which deletes .syso files (note that we probably shouldn't ship
any binaries we have not built ourselves, that includes other ELF
binaries packed in the source tarball). It's possibly OK to run these
binaries late in the build process when running tests because we are not
exposing our users to untrusted binaries directly (as long as they don't
go silently change the binaries we built and are about to ship), but
shipping these files to users without having built them ourselves sounds
like a security accident waiting to happen.

[Bug 1397250] Re: SIGPIPE not caught in do_atfork_child()

2015-08-25 Thread Jon Grimm
FWIW, I tried to recreate this with the testcase shown here:
http://bugzilla.padl.com/show_bug.cgi?id=414  on both trusty
(264-2.2ubuntu4.14.04.1) and wily (265-3ubuntu2), but testcase passed
fine (even ran in loop). Neither package has the fix from upstream.

So, I'll probably rebuild libnss-ldap from source and make sure its even
triggering the buggy code path next.

[Bug 1388043] Re: /etc/mailname no longer used for outgoing message domain

2015-08-25 Thread Kjeld Flarup
Through not beeing a postfix problem, postfix may be able to rewrite the From
value.
eg. localhost.company.com can be rewritten to company.com by this rule
masquerade_domains = company.com
Or more generic since $myorigin is by default read from /etc/mailname
masquerade_domains = $myorigin

[Bug 1487928] Re: please upload 1.5 final packages

2015-08-25 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Here's a more limited diff that retains the deletion of the syso files.

For the record here are all the changes between the rc1 release and
final: https://github.com/golang/go/compare/go1.5rc1...go1.5

They are all bugfix releases, but in any case I had already talked to a
release team member (steve!) about uploading rc1 before freeze and
updating to the release soon after, so I think any required FFe will be
granted with a minimum of fuss.

Re: [Bug 1487928] Re: please upload 1.5 final packages

2015-08-25 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
On 26 August 2015 at 03:15, Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
mathieu...@gmail.com wrote:
 My concern isn't so much in that these binaries come with the source --
 it sounds suboptimal, but it's not quite as bad as shipping binary blobs
 we haven't built ourselves...

Right, but as I tried to say, this is not a new thing, we were
distributing these blobs anyway.

I agree that what we have here is not good. To be clear, the syso
files are nothing at all to do with running test cases during the
build.

[Bug 1448254] Re: openvswitch systemd unit file ordering wrong

2015-08-25 Thread Mark Dunn
Sorry, lost track of the bug as it fell into 100 papercuts...

if it helps I solved my ordering problem by modifying the
/lib/systemd/sysytem/openvswitch-nonetwork.service
as follows

[Unit]
Description=Open vSwitch Internal Unit
PartOf=openvswitch-switch.service

# Without this all sorts of looping dependencies occur doh!
DefaultDependencies=no

#precedants pulled from isup@ service requirements
After=apparmor.service local-fs.target systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service

#subsequent to this service we need the network to start
Wants=network-pre.target openvswitch-switch.service
Before=network-pre.target openvswitch-switch.service

[Service]
Type=oneshot
RemainAfterExit=yes
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/openvswitch-switch
ExecStart=/usr/share/openvswitch/scripts/ovs-ctl start \
  --system-id=random $OPTIONS
ExecStop=/usr/share/openvswitch/scripts/ovs-ctl stop

This pulled up the services and allowed my configuration to work

openvswitch-nonetwork.service
● ├─openvswitch-switch.service
● └─network-pre.target
●   ├─ifup@br-eth2.service
●   ├─ifup@br-ex.service
●   ├─ifup@eth0.service
●   ├─ifup@ovs-system.service
●   ├─networking.service
●   └─network.target
● ├─mysql.service
● ├─openvswitch-switch.service
● ├─rabbitmq-server.service
● ├─rc-local.service
● ├─ssh.service
● └─network-online.target
●   ├─apache2.service
●   ├─dns-clean.service
●   └─kerneloops.service

(the dots are green :) )

There is lots of noise on the net about chickens and eggs, so I do not know if
it solves some other case
The thing that took me so long to solve it (besides unfamiliarity of systemd)
was the AUTOMATIC inclusion of dependencies, who on earth dreamt that up?

[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines

2015-08-25 Thread Peter Ansell
The workaround of the following commands only works until I log out (not
restarting the computer):

mv $SSH_AUTH_SOCK $SSH_AUTH_SOCK.broken
ssh-agent -a $SSH_AUTH_SOCK
ssh-add

When I log back in, without having to restart the computer, the SSH_AUTH_SOCK
is corrupted again, and it seems to be consistent. If there are any commands I
could run before and after logging out I am more than happy to contribute.

[Bug 1487928] Re: please upload 1.5 final packages

2015-08-25 Thread Steve Langasek
NB: it only requires a feature freeze exception if it's a featureful
upload. if the differences between rc1 and final are just bugfixes, no
need to enumerate.

[Bug 1385851] Re: OpenVPN only supports TLS v1.0

2015-08-25 Thread Haw Loeung
Any chance we could backport support for TLS v1.1+ to Trusty LTS?

** Description changed:

  Hi Guys,

  Seems the version of OpenVPN we're carrying only supports and/or is able
  to negotiate TLS v1.0. The patch below has landed in upstream OpenVPN
  2.3.3 and replaces TLSv1_server_method() calls with
+ SSLv23_server_method() and TLSv1_client_method() with
  SSLv23_client_method().

https://github.com/OpenVPN/openvpn/commit/4b67f9849ab3efe89268e01afddc7795f38d0f64

  For example, when OpenVPN tls-ciphers is configured with TLS v1.2
  ciphers:

  | tls-cipher TLS-ECDHE-RSA-WITH-AES-128-GCM-SHA256:TLS-ECDH-RSA-WITH-
  AES-128-GCM-SHA256:TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-AES-128-GCM-SHA256:TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-
  AES-128-CBC-SHA

  Logs shows negotiating at TLS v1.0:

  | Oct 26 21:58:47 ragnar ovpn-canonical[19470]: Control Channel: TLSv1,
  cipher TLSv1/SSLv3 DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA, 2048 bit RSA

  When TLS v1.1 and/or v1.2 ciphers are only specified, sessions fail:

  | Oct 26 21:58:29 ragnar ovpn-canonical[19259]: TLS_ERROR: BIO read
tls_read_plaintext error: error:140830B5:SSL routines:SSL3_CLIENT_HELLO:no
ciphers available
  | Oct 26 21:58:29 ragnar ovpn-canonical[19259]: TLS Error: TLS object -
incoming plaintext read error
  | Oct 26 21:58:29 ragnar ovpn-canonical[19259]: TLS Error: TLS handshake
failed
  | Oct 26 21:58:31 ragnar ovpn-canonical[19470]: TLS: Initial packet from
[AF_INET]xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1194, sid=eca7ea6c 067ea30f

  Could we please consider either packaging = 2.3.3 or backporting this
  patch?

  Thanks,

  Haw
