[Bug 1493156] [NEW] pm-suspend aborts if highest numbered CPU offline, as of kernel 4.2
Public bug reported: Kernel 4.2 includes a significant commit (87549141d516aee71d511138e27117c41e8aef68), after the patch the files and directory are present even if the CPU is offline. If the CPU is offline, writing to those files isn't allowed and so the echo in 94cpufreq fails. If the failed echo is not the last pass through the loop, then the bad exit code gets overwritten with a good one before the loop exits. If the failed echo is the last pass through the loop, due to the highest numbered CPU being offline, then then 94cpufreq returns an error code and pm-suspend aborts. So what is needed is something like (and this doesn't actually work yet): hibernate_cpufreq() { ( cd /sys/devices/system/cpu/ for x in cpu[0-9]*; do # if cpufreq is a symlink, it is handled by another cpu. Skip. [ -L "$x/cpufreq" ] && continue gov="$x/cpufreq/scaling_governor" # if we do not have a scaling_governor file, skip. [ -f "$gov" ] || continue + # if the CPU is offline, skip, unless no file, i.e. CPU0. + [ $(cat "$x/online") = "1" -o ! -f "$x/online" ] || continue Or + if [ $(cat "$x/online") = "1" ] || [ ! -f "$x/online" ]; then + continue; +fi Or something similar that actually works. # if our temporary governor is not available, skip. grep -q "$TEMPORARY_CPUFREQ_GOVERNOR" \ "$x/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors" || continue savestate "${x}_governor" < "$gov" echo "$TEMPORARY_CPUFREQ_GOVERNOR" > "$gov" done ) } Or just force a good return code at the end (which is what I'm doing now, so that I can move on). There is no memory_region_get_dirty_log_mask in the 2.0.0, this was only introduced later. [Bug 1493049] Re: memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode
thanks for reporting this bug. Your backported patch skips the part in render_memory_region() where: -fr.dirty_log_mask = mr->dirty_log_mask; +fr.dirty_log_mask = memory_region_get_dirty_log_mask(mr); Was that on purpose? Also, in the NOVA bug you said you had filed a 'trusty' bug. From the description it seems as though wily should also be affected. That means I should fix in wily and SRU to trusty. [Bug 1493049] [NEW] memory corruption during live-migration in TCG mode
Public bug reported: [Impact] * Live-migration of QEMU instances in pure-emulation (TCG) mode [Test Case] HOW TO REPRODUCE 1. Run a QEMU instance with a simply VM inside it. The VM should have as few running daemons as it is posible. 2. Live migrate machine back and forth a few times. Use monitor command 'migrate "exec:cat>filename"' to migrate out a VM and QEMU command line option '-incoming "exec:cat filename"' to load a migrated state. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR - The VM is responding to the commands after each migration. ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR - The VM Kernel crashes in most-used part of the memory after 10 to 50 migrations. [Additional Information] qemu: Installed: (none) Candidate: 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.18 Version table: 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.18 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-proposed/universe amd64 Packages 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.17 0 500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-security/universe amd64 Packages 2.0.0~rc1+dfsg-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages The migrated memory is corrupted because the pages are not appropriately dirtied during the migration state. This is due to the only pages that go through `slow_path` access in TCG are marked as dirty. Iff the pages are in the TLB cache then the access is done the fast way and pages are not marked dirty. To fix that the TLB cache must be flushed before the VM enters live migration state. See the bug descriptions for details: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mos/7.0.x/+bug/1371130 QEMU versions from 2.0.0 and up to 2.4.0 (excluding it) seems to be vulnerable. [Bug 1482227] Re: [MIR] python-pyeclib, liberasurecode, jerasure, gf-complete
After resolution of the backend loading issues in liberasurecode, I think this is now ready for review. ** Description changed: [Overview] Swift 2.3.0 has experimental support for erasure coded storage pools; even though this is optional, the integration is fairly well laced into the storage pool code, and the project are working towards making this production grade. This MIR requests that the required dependency be included in main, so we can move to the newer Swift versions (getting other new version goodness as well). Its also worth noting that CPU optimization is currently a build time feature in this dependency chain - as as a result is disable to meet the minimum CPU feature baseline in Debian, so the algorithms are not optimized in any way so won't be as performant as they should be on modern CPU architectures. >> pyeclib << [Availability] In universe and Debian [Rationale] New dependency for OpenStack Swift to support erasure coded pools of object data. [Bug 1488056] Re: Rejected send message, 10 matched rules; type="method_return", sender=":1.84"
@Jean-Pierre: You downgraded those packages from what version? Please could you confirm what versions work and what versions don't? I've also looked at the changelog entries for the security updates that were applied to bind9 in 15.04 since release, and none of the changes seem related. So it seems unlikely to me to be the culprit. On this basis, please could you double check that this change, and no other change, is causing you a regression? For example, please: 1) Reboot, follow your reproduction steps and confirm that the failure does not reproduce. 2) Upgrade bind9 packages (and nothing else) to the latest updates. 3) Reboot, follow your reproduction steps (exactly as in step 1) and confirm that the failure does reproduce the issue. Please report exactly what you did to reproduce the issue, the output of "dpkg -l" for each of the cases when you can reproduce and when you cannot reproduce, and then set the bug status back to New. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a prob lem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: python-urllib3 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to python-urllib3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1492780 Title: package python3-urllib3 1.7.1-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-urllib3/+bug/1492780/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1481737] Re: HAProxy init script is not working properly
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We're in sync with Debian on the haproxy package so this bug should be reported there. For Ubuntu, managing haproxy with systemd units would presumably be easiest; this could also be contributed to Debian. Workaround: change /etc/init.d/haproxy as you described. Importance -> Medium since a workaround is available. ** Tags added: needs-upstream-report ** Summary changed: - HAProxy init script is not working properly + HAProxy init script does not work correctly with nbproc configuration option -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1481737 Title: HAProxy init script does not work correctly with nbproc configuration option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/haproxy/+bug/1481737/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1477225] Re: ceph-radosgw restart fails
** Description changed: + Upstream Bug: http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/11140 + [Impact] On 14.04 the restart target of the sysvinit script brings the service down but sometimes fails to bring the service back up again. There is a race between stop and start and in the failure case the attempt to bring the service up runs before the service has been stopped and the start command is never issued: The proposed fix updates /etc/init.d/radosgw so that the stop target waits for up to 30 seconds for the service to stop cleanly [Test Case] Bundle: openstack-services: services: mysql: branch: lp:~openstack-charmers/charms/trusty/percona-cluster/next constraints: mem=1G options: dataset-size: 50% ceph: branch: lp:~openstack-charmers/charms/trusty/ceph/next num_units: 3 constraints: mem=1G options: monitor-count: 3 fsid: 6547bd3e-1397-11e2-82e5-53567c8d32dc monitor-secret: AQCXrnZQwI7KGBAAiPofmKEXKxu5bUzoYLVkbQ== osd-devices: /dev/vdb osd-reformat: "yes" ephemeral-unmount: /mnt keystone: branch: lp:~openstack-charmers/charms/trusty/keystone/next constraints: mem=1G options: admin-password: openstack admin-token: ubuntutesting ceph-radosgw: branch: lp:~openstack-charmers/charms/trusty/ceph-radosgw/next options: use-embedded-webserver: True relations: - [ keystone, mysql ] - [ ceph-radosgw, keystone ] - [ ceph-radosgw, ceph ] # kilo trusty-kilo: inherits: openstack-services series: trusty overrides: openstack-origin: cloud:trusty-kilo source: cloud:trusty-kilo trusty-icehouse: - inherits: openstack-services - series: trusty + inherits: openstack-services + series: trusty $ juju-deployer -c next.yaml trusty-icehouse $ juju ssh ceph-radosgw/0 $ sudo su - # service radosgw status /usr/bin/radosgw is running. # service radosgw restart Starting client.radosgw.gateway... /usr/bin/radosgw already running. /usr/bin/radosgw is running. # service radosgw status /usr/bin/radosgw is not running. # apt-cache policy radosgw radosgw: - Installed: 0.80.10-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 - Candidate: 0.80.10-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 - Version table: - *** 0.80.10-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 0 - 500 http://nova.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages - 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status - 0.79-0ubuntu1 0 - 500 http://nova.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages - root@juju-lytrusty-machine-4:~# + Installed: 0.80.10-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 + Candidate: 0.80.10-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 + Version table: + *** 0.80.10-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 0 + 500 http://nova.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + 0.79-0ubuntu1 0 + 500 http://nova.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages + root@juju-lytrusty-machine-4:~# [Regression Potential] * The only change in behaviour that would result from this change is that running the stop target in the init script will wait for up to 30s before exiting rather than retuning immediatly.
