[Bug 1510318] Re: Augeas 1.3 can't read some conf files

2015-11-06 Thread Robie Basak
Looks like upstream no longer needs this since they have embedded the
lens they need, so no point backporting this fix to stable releases. It
is fixed in the development release for the future.

[Bug 1513569] [NEW] net-snmp-config --base-lib-cflags is broken

2015-11-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb):

The --base-lib-cflags option to net-snmp-config added by Debian
developers is broken as it outputs @LIBCFLAGS@ among others.

The problem comes from the fact that when it was introduced (version
5.4.2.1~dsfg-4), the original patch modified the configure.in file as
well. In the meantime, the structure of configure.ac has changed and
when the patch was adapted, the modification to configure.ac was
dropped, resulting in a substitution left aside.

The attached patch is an attempt to restore the original behavior. It
is meant as a replacement of debian/patches/62_add_lib_cflags.patch .

Nevertheless, the way information output by net-snmp-config --base-lib-
cflags is gathered is wrong. There shouldn't IMHO be any GCC
optimization flags like -O2 in the substitution, among others. The
variable to substitute @LIBCFLAGS@ should be carefully constructed
during the configure process instead.

[Bug 1513569] Re: net-snmp-config --base-lib-cflags is broken

2015-11-06 Thread Robie Basak
Thanks, this sounds reasonable. I'd prefer to send this to Debian to
minimise our delta in Ubuntu, so this needs checking and forwarding to
Debian if appropriate.

[Bug 1479652] Re: [patch] ntpd rejects source UDP ports less than 123 as bogus

2015-11-06 Thread Robie Basak
According to the Debian bug, this was fixed upstream in 4.2.8p1 and
Debian sid is now on 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-3 so I think that means this is
fixed in Debian. Ubuntu will pick it up on the next merge which I am
expecting to be done this cycle.

[Bug 1505473] Re: pollen does not start on boot

2015-11-06 Thread Robie Basak
** Description changed:

+ [User Impact]
+
+ pollen operators must maintain a delta on /etc/init/pollen.conf in order
+ to maintain a pollen service that restarts on boot.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ 1. apt-get install pollen
+ 2. reboot
+ 3. status pollen
+
+ Expected results: pollen service running
+ Actual results: pollen service stopped
+
+ 4. start pollen # if stopped from failure of above case, otherwise just
leave running
+ 5. telinit 1
+ 6. status pollen
+
+ Expected results: pollen service stopped
+ Actual results: pollen service running
+
+ [Development Fix]
+
+ Fix typo in /etc/init/pollen.conf
+
+ [Stable Fix]
+
+ Fix typo in /etc/init/pollen.conf. Note conffile change = potential
+ conffile prompt, but I don't think that's a problem here.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ If there is a regression it will be in the behaviour of stopping and
+ starting the service. Canonical IS is the only known user of pollen and
+ are active on this bug. Other unknown users may receive a conffile
+ prompt if they have worked around the issue, but in any case I don't see
+ how this fix would regress behaviour.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
  ubuntu@keeton:~$ lsb_release -rc
  Release:14.04
  Codename: trusty
  ubuntu@keeton:~$ dpkg-query -W pollen
  pollen 4.11-0ubuntu1
  ubuntu@keeton:~$ _

pollen does not start on boot, due to an error in the upstart config:

- ubuntu@keeton:~$ grep start /etc/init/pollen.conf
+ ubuntu@keeton:~$ grep start /etc/init/pollen.conf
start on start on runlevel [2345]
stop on start on runlevel [!2345]
- # Ensure our device exists, and is a character device, before
starting our server
+ # Ensure our device exists, and is a character device, before
starting our server
  ubuntu@keeton:~$ _

Deleting the second "start on" in each line seems to fix this.

Yes mysqld inhouse 5.6.27-0ubuntu1 Config work arounds alleviated

do set Bug 1511158 Ubuntu 15.10 mysqld 5.6.27-0ubuntu1 as a new bug. We
have not solved the problems, which lets Kedek's ppa perform.

please pool the crash reports sent from my PC.

D'oh! thanks for that info. You are running bind9, which is causing
the conflict. To work around this, you can tell bind9 to not listen
on 10.0.3.1 - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1240757

usually done in new MAAS upstream releases and the testing done for

[Bug 1510345] Re: [SRU] Cloud Images do not bring up networking w/ certain virtual NICs due to device naming rules

2015-11-06 Thread Martin Pitt
Setting net.ifnames=0 in livecd-rootfs was a quick hack for wily, but
this is really inconvenient. This means that the cloud images now stop
being usable for non-cloud workloads (or even for cloud workloads with
multiple NICs).

The proper fix would be for cloud-init to generate a network config on
first boot, for the first /sys/class/e* interface, instead of shipping a
hardcoded /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0.cfg. Can we please do this for
xenial?

[Bug 1483923] Re: dpkg-divert breaks nginx installation

2015-11-06 Thread Benjamin Bach
Just read this:

Furthermore:

> Current behaviour of dpkg-divert is not an excuse to retain it, IMHO.
> Conceptually, dpkg-divert in preinst scripts is just wrong.

I don't know what to make of all this :) I guess there are many
discussions about how to do things, but the Debian Wiki suggests to put
things in preinst, which then makes everything diversion a "conceptual
pre-depends".

[Bug 1457312] Re: package dbconfig-common 1.8.47+nmu1 failed to install/upgrade: package dbconfig-common is not ready for configuration cannot configure (current status `half-installed')

2015-11-06 Thread Paul Gevers
Thanks for reporting this issue. However, there is not enough
information to debug this issue.

What happens if you run (please copy/paste all the output):
apt-get install dbconfig-common

[Bug 1464875] Re: package fancontrol 1:3.3.5-2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2015-11-06 Thread Peter Saunderson
Just installed ubuntu 15.10 and the cpu fan started increasing in speed
for no apparent reason at random times then slowing down... most
annoying. Whilst investigating this I thought I would try fancontrol...
but this did not seem to be able to help leaving the cpu fan blasting
away at full speed and so I uninstalled fancontrol with sudo apt-get
purge fancontrol

This left /etc/fancontrol on the disk and not correctly configured .. I
thought this a bit odd so sudo apt-get install fancontrol and the
install failed and I ended up at this bug after the automatic bug report
system sent me here... ..

So the next thing to do was delete /etc/fancontrol and re-install
fancontrol and I did not get this crash. and the install worked just
fine. Still not enabled fancontrol because my pc does not seem to like
PWM fan control so I will hope that the CPU fan stays well controlled.

Not sure if this experience will help anyone... but the tip is see if
/etc/fancontrol is already on the disk and if the sudo apt-get install
fancontrol fails have a look at the contents of that file / back it up /
delete it and try again.

Pity that sudo apt-get purge fancontrol does not purge all the
configuration... Perhaps that is the takeaway for the bug fix?
