[Bug 1546978] Re: apparmor does not allow to run qemu-dm executable

2016-03-10 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hi James,

the kilo libvirt package (which I assume this is?) does indeed not have
a rule for qemu-dm, which does exist in xen-utils-4.4 in trusty (and
there is no xen-utils in kilo archive).

Note this bug is not valid against the xenial libvirt package, as there
is no qemu-dm binary in xen-utils-4.6 there. I also can't fix it in
vivid since that is no longer valid. It is valid in 14.04 though so
I'll mark it as affecting that.

** Also affects: libvirt (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Importance: Undecided

2016-03-10 Thread Serge Hallyn
Since this was installed as 14.04, and libvirt-bin is not installed
masked by default, I'll assume this was a remnant of a previous install?
This shouldn't prevent the package install from succeeding though.
Indeed if I mask libvirt-bin and then do a apt-get install --reinstall
libvirt-bin, the install does succeed. Even an install of gnome-boxes
succeeds.

I'll mark this invalid meaning we've lost access to the reproducer, but
if you can reproduce at well please reply.

Looks good on 16.04 too:

$ sudo modprobe ipmi_devintf
$ sudo service openipmi start
Job for openipmi.service failed because the control process exited with error
code. See "systemctl status openipmi.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
$ lsmod | grep ipmi
ipmi_devintf 13691 0
ipmi_powernv6489 0
ipmi_msghandler50947 2 ipmi_powernv,ipmi_devintf

Thanks!

[Bug 1555902] [NEW] Azure: Precise should use the same instance ID detection as Trusty

2016-03-10 Thread Stephen A. Zarkos
Public bug reported:

The Azure datasource on Trusty utilizes the system-uuid from SMBIOS as a
unique VM ID to identify the instance. Precise still uses the older
method of obtaining the Instance ID via the wire server, which is not
stable in CRP. Precise should move to use the same instance ID
detection logic as Trusty.

Also, I'm not sure if the new package will need a FFe, as while it's
adding new features, it's doing so in order to replace features that
were lost in the previous php7.0 builds, with the understanding we would
add them back. I can file a FFe, though, with that reasoning, if
desired.

[Bug 1555843] Re: php7.0: re-add binary packages with universe dependencies

2016-03-10 Thread Nish Aravamudan
Steve,

With php7.0:7.0.3-9ubuntu2 in main and php-universe-
source7.0:7.0.3-9ubuntu2 in universe, all the Debian php7.0 binary
packages are now buildable in Ubuntu. I am not sure if the naming is
great and I tried to minimize the Makefile-fu used, but it does make the
creation of the php-universe-source packages trivial (really just a
twiddle of a flag, plus the added deps and renames).

Note also that the orig.tar.xz is identical between the two sources,
just the Debian naming rules require it to be copied.

2016-03-10 Thread Nish Aravamudan
** Description changed:

  php7.0 (7.0.3-9ubuntu2) xenial; urgency=medium

- * Add support for independent source packages php7.0 and
- php7.0-universe-source.
- + php7.0-imap, php7.0-interbase, php7.0-mcrypt and php7.0-zip will
- be provided by the latter, which will reside in universe.
* Drop:
  - Drop support for firebird, c-client, mcrypt, onig, qdbm and zip as
they are in universe (LP #1547245):
- + d/control: drop Build-Depends on firebird-dev, libc-client-dev,
- libmcrypt-dev, libonig-dev, libqdbm-dev and libzip-dev.
+ d/control: drop binary packages php7.0-imap, php7.0-interbase,
php7.0-mcrypt and php7.0-zip and their reverse dependencies.
+ d/rules.d: drop makefile snippets for imap, interbase, mcrypt
  and zip extensions.
+ * Add support for independent source packages php7.0 and
+ php7.0-universe-source:
+ - php7.0-imap, php7.0-interbase, php7.0-mcrypt and php7.0-zip will
+ be provided by the latter, which will reside in universe.
+ - d/control.in: drop Build-Depends on firebird-dev, libc-client-dev,
+ libmcrypt-dev, libonig-dev, libqdbm-dev and libzip-dev.
+ - d/rules: use grep{,-dctrl} to filter out makefile snippets and
+ binary packages that require universe.
+ - d/rules.d/ext-interbase.mk: add pdo config to interbase's config,
+ as php7.0-universe-common will not use ext-common.mk.
+ * d/control.in: switch Build-Depends of netcat-traditional to
+ netcat-openbsd as only the latter is in main.

[Bug 1555856] [NEW] move to per-Go-major version coinstallable packages

2016-03-10 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Public bug reported:

To make maintenance of Go easier in the future, we've decided to allow
major versions of Go to be co-installed (like gcc-4.9, gcc-5, etc). The
plan goes something like this:

 1) convert existing golang source package to golang-1.6 source package,
removing version independent things like the man pages and management of
/usr/bin/go, changed to install to version dependent paths (/usr/lib/go-1.6 etc)
 2) create a golang-defaults package that contains this version independent
stuff and links /usr/bin/go to the appropriate version
 3) update gccgo-5 and gccgo-6 packages to stop providing an alternative for
'go'.

** Affects: gcc-5 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Affects: gccgo-6 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Affects: golang (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- move to per-major version coinstallable packages
+ move to per-Go-major version coinstallable packages

** Also affects: gcc-5 (Ubuntu)

** Also affects: gccgo-6 (Ubuntu)

2016-03-10 Thread Serge Hallyn
ok, actually I think this is simply an error in virt-aa-helper.
apparmor's load_profile() should be being called before the blockcommit
begins, to add rw access to the base image. Which is why the rw rule is
there. But the 'deny' rule is for some reason still there.

[Bug 1540407] Re: multipathd drops paths of a temporarily lost device

2016-03-10 Thread Ryan Harper
Here's my initial test with the merged multipath-tools test.
I had the FCP devices enabled with the 0.5.0+git-1ubuntu2 package
installed from the merges ppa and rebooted the system.

After booting, I confirmed the paths were up, then used a vmcp command to
disconnect the devices.
I then queried mulitpath over a number of minutes to ensure the path remains
(but shows faulty).
After 15 minutues or so I contacted an admin to renable the FCP devices and
observed the paths
becoming restored in multipath

[Bug 997927] Re: NM reports "VPN service 'openvpn' disappeared"

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

openvpn itself, or in NetworManager. So I am marking this bug Incomplete
for now for openvpn.

If you can provide exact steps so that a developer can reproduce the
original problem using only openvpn, then please add them to this bug
and change the status back to New.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"

if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1384394] Re: /etc/network/interfaces: "dns-nameservers" entries for bridge "br*" interfaces are ignored i.e. they are not listed in "/etc/resolv.conf" when invoking "ifup" command

2016-03-10 Thread dreamcat4
So why isnt br* already listed by default in the file /etc/resolvconf
/interface-order ? There are many other entries for everything else. And
presumably it should do no harm / detriment.

Should that not be the fix here?

br* bridge interfaces are a common class of network devices and are
being used quite often.

2016-03-10 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. If you can prepare a debdiff (probably one that adds a
quilt patch) then this request can be put forward to the patch pilots
for review, and if they're happy they can upload. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SponsorshipProcess for details. This is a little
out of date; essentially attach a debdiff and subscribe ~ubuntu-sponsors
when ready. See also http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/ for quilt patch
formatting guidelines.

[Bug 1319320] Re: samba does not provide netlogon infos

2016-03-10 Thread Robie Basak
If someone can prepare a backport, please follow the steps at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure to have Trusty
updated.

All the steps documented there need to be followed. In particular, I'm
concerned that we:

1) Explain the bug well enough so the SRU team (who are probably not
familiar with this package) can understand the real user impact in terms
of use case so they can make a decision as to whether backporting the
fix to stable releases justifies the regression risk to existing,
unaffected users.

2) Make sure that the fixing this in a stable Ubuntu release does not
regress existing users of the module not affected by this bug (eg. other
architectures or ways of consuming this module).

3) Have a test case that can be followed by someone not familiar with
the package for SRU verification purposes.

Good that we nailed it down.

As dbconfig-common leaves this to ucf, I think than it should be done
there. Or do you have something else in mind?

[Bug 1555689] [NEW] Consider building bind 9.10 with --enable-fetchlimit

2016-03-10 Thread Graham Clinch
Public bug reported:

BIND 9.10.3+ has additional tuning options for recursive servers that
can be enabled at build time with --enable-fetchlimit. "These features
are intended to optimize recursive server behavior in favor of good
client queries, whilst at the same time limiting the impact of bad
client queries (e.g. queries which cannot be resolved, or which take too
long to resolve) on local recursive server resource use.". Please
consider building the bind 9.10 packages with fetchlimit enabled.

Further details are available in ISC's knowledge base:

[Bug 1528583] Re: [FFe] Please update to MySQL 5.7 series

2016-03-10 Thread Lars Tangvald
I'll do a more complete writeup once the testing is complete, but want
to follow up on the above comment:

I can confirm that the package from ppa:racb/experimental fixes the apparmor
issue we saw before.
I've also tested the same starting from Precise.

So the upgrade from 5.5 in Trusty to 5.7 in Xenial is now tested to work
with kernel versions 3.13 and 4.2 in Trusty

[Bug 1528583] Re: [FFe] Please update to MySQL 5.7 series

2016-03-10 Thread Robie Basak
Lars discovered an upgrade issue from Trusty to Xenial. We think the
issue is that the Trusty apparmor does not support Unix domain socket
rules, and during the upgrade the userspace tools are too old so mysqld
fails to start.

I'm currently building a version in my test PPA that adds an apparmor
dependency to ensure the new apparmor is configured first during the
upgrade. Hopefully this will fix it for anyone upgrading from the latest
Trusty HWE kernel. We're not sure about the Trusty release kernel yet.

We're doing this in ppa:racb/experimental so as not to affect any test
results from those testing for us at the moment. If this works, then
I'll update the main testing ppa:mysql-ubuntu/mysql-5.7 tonight (UK
time). Please note that if you're already testing from the latter PPA
then this may affect your results. If you need me to hold back from
uploading because you need the old version for consistency across test
runs, please let me know and I'll delay uploading.

[Bug 1554031] Re: error: internal error: unable to execute QEMU command ‘block-commit’: Could not reopen file: Permission denied

2016-03-10 Thread Serge Hallyn
strace shows:

O_RDWR|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied)

The apparmor profile (libvirt-uuid.files) includes:

"/var/lib/uvtool/libvirt/images/x-uvt-b64-Y29tLnVidW50dS5jbG91ZDpzZXJ2ZXI6MTYuMDQ6YW1kNjQgMjAxNjAxMjU="

 rw,

That long filename is the (readonly) backing file for the root disk.

sudo qemu-img info docker.qcow
image: docker.qcow
file format: qcow2
virtual size: 30G (32212254720 bytes)
disk size: 7.0G
cluster_size: 65536
backing file:
/var/lib/uvtool/libvirt/images/x-uvt-b64-Y29tLnVidW50dS5jbG91ZDpzZXJ2ZXI6MTYuMDQ6YW1kNjQgMjAxNjAxMjU=
backing file format: qcow2
Format specific information:
compat: 0.10
refcount bits: 16

So it would seem we could consider this (a) a bug in qemu for requiring
write access to a readonly backing file, or (b) a bug in libvirt for
denying that write access.
