[Bug 1558576] [NEW] OpenSSH Error "Disconnecting: Hash's MIC didn't verify" after upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04
Public bug reported: SSH was working fine for years, until I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04. When I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04, the openssh-server stopped accepting connections from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS clients, with the following error: Disconnecting: Hash's MIC didn't verify The error above shows up on the client side. In the server logs, I see the following: Mar 17 10:01:49 falcon polkitd(authority=local): Unregistered Authentication Agent for unix-process:125110:294284 (system bus name :1.133, object path /org/freedesktop/PolicyKit1/AuthenticationAgent, locale en_US.UTF-8) (disconnected from bus) Mar 17 10:02:06 falcon sshd[125126]: error: Received disconnect from MY.IP.ADDRESS.HERE port PORTNUMBER:2: Hash's MIC didn't verify [preauth] Mar 17 10:02:06 falcon sshd[125126]: Disconnected from MY.IP.ADDRESS.HERE port PORTNUMBER [preauth] I am using GSSAPI Key Exchange, and GSSAPI authentication. So I am not using public keys or passwords or anything like that; everything is entirely Kerberos 5. The problem, also, is only one-way. In other words, if I upgrade the server to Ubuntu 16.04, it stops accepting connections from 14.04 clients, but if I go the other direction and upgrade the client to Ubuntu 16.04, then it can still authenticate successfully to an Ubuntu 14.04 machine. I am more than happy to help debug this, so please let me know what you suggest and I'll do whatever I can to help. [Bug 1528251] Re: WARNING: no suitable primes in /etc/ssh/primes
looking at openssh source code: #define _PATH_DH_MODULI SSHDIR "/moduli" /* Backwards compatibility */ #define _PATH_DH_PRIMES SSHDIR "/primes" both paths are defined, with primes being a legacy/compat one. Ubuntu only uses the current default /moduli path. These are documented in ssh-keygen, you can see this manpage over here too http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/en/man1/ssh- keygen.1.html#contenttoc3 Note, openssh supports and can be forced to use more combinations on client <-> server than available in the moduli, hence the caveat as per manpage. If one needs moduli beyond what's available in /moduli path, one may need to generate extra ones. Nonetheless, please provide information as to how to reproduce this error ssh client in use, ssh server in use, and version details of both client and server. Ideally including architecture and exact package version numbers. The combined metadata on this bug report is inconsistent, and I'm failing to reproduce the described errors. ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528251 Title: WARNING: no suitable primes in /etc/ssh/primes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1528251/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1558565] Re: Unprivileged system LXC containers refuse to start after upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04
It did, indeed, have an autodev script configured: --- # Template used to create this container: /usr/share/lxc/templates/lxc-download # Parameters passed to the template: # For additional config options, please look at lxc.container.conf(5) # Distribution configuration lxc.include = /usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf lxc.include = /usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.userns.conf lxc.arch = x86_64 # Container specific configuration lxc.rootfs = /var/lib/lxc/boinc/rootfs lxc.utsname = boinc # Network configuration lxc.network.type = veth lxc.network.flags = up lxc.network.link = lxcbr0 lxc.network.hwaddr = 00:16:3e:76:25:82 lxc.cgroup.memory.limit_in_bytes = 2G lxc.start.auto = 1 lxc.hook.autodev=/var/lib/lxc/boinc/autodev --- I have removed that line, and it now starts up perfectly well. I'm not clear now whether the autodev script was never there, and it just wasn't noticed before to cause an error, or whether it disappeared in the upgrade to 16.04, but either way the container starts now so I'm happy. I'll leave the ticket open for now in case either of you want any more information to help track down any possible issue, but if you want me to close it I'm happy to do so. [Bug 1558125] Re: ntpd doesn't synchronize to local clock (ntpd 4.2.8p4/xenial)
Tested and confirmed it's working now. There appears to be a behavioural change from 4.2.6 to 4.2.8 when using the local clock as a source. [Bug 1558336] [NEW] [needs-packaging] juju-mongo-tools3.2 in xenial, wily, and trusty
Public bug reported: # juju-mongo-tools3.2 The Juju team wants juju-mongo-tools3.2 packaged in xenial. lp:~sinzui/ubuntu/xenial/juju-mongo-tools3.2/xenial-mongo-tools3.2 This package is new. Upstream replaced the mongo tools included in MongoDB 2.x with new tools from the mongo-tools project. This project is written in Go. This package required a patch to support arm64. ## juju-mongo-tools3.2-debian.diff This diff shows my debianisation of juju-mongo-tools. 1. The package uses five golang-dev packages from xenial * There ware four matching golang-dev packages in wily. 2. This package uses the system ssl (instead of go's x-crypto) 3. This is a dep-5 package. * upstream has utility to manage golang package deps and save them to th vendor dir. * This implementation is similar Juju's godeps tool so i record the git commit for the package in the license comment. 4. The embedded and minimise JS is a nightmare. I collected the missing sources and include them in the copyright file and in the missing-sources dir. see juju-mongo-tools3.2-missing-sources.diff. 5. I patched one file to fix an arm64 build error. syscall.Dup2 is not supported by arm64, use syscall.Dup3. 6. The rules to build the many mongo tools are simple, though there is a few steps to setup the G0PATH. * Using the same technique as the juju-core package in xenial, I create a SYSTEM_GOCODE path and link all the installed golang dev packages to it. SYSTEM_GOCODE is the first item in the GOPATH. * The mongo-tools package is not a valid Go package path :/ I follow the packages own example of creating a sensible GO package path that I call LOCAL_GOCODE. I symlink the content of this package into the LOCAL_GOCODE path. This is the second item in the GOPATH. * I also add the vendor path as the last item in GOPATH. ## juju-mongo-tools3.2-missing-sources.diff The missing sources for the emedded JS and CSS> Minimised JS is evil. Sane servers compress the text, which is superior to removing whitespace. ** Affects: juju-mongodb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: needs-packaging ** Attachment added: "juju-mongo-tools3.2-debian.diff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1558336/+attachment/4601654/+files/juju-mongo-tools3.2-debian.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju-mongodb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1558336 Title: [needs-packaging] juju-mongo-tools3.2 in xenial, wily, and trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju-mongodb/+bug/1558336/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1547927] Re: LDAP_OPT_X_TLS_REQUIRE_CERT handling differences between ldaps:// and STARTTLS
A bug has been found in libldap code that interferes with the value of "require cert" option. It affects libldap built with GnuTLS, as is done in packages supplied by Ubuntu and Debian. The bug causes the value to be read from previously freed memory, often resulting in incorrect or random value being used. This bug has been fixed upstream by the OpenLDAP team, but the fix has not yet been backported to Ubuntu. Bug 1557248 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1557248 The problem you describe may be caused by this bug, or by an unrelated problem. However, in any case Ubuntu libldap packages currently in wily and xenial do not handle "require cert" option correctly. With this in mind, may I ask that you vote for bug 1557248 in order for it to get noticed by Ubuntu maintainers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1547927 Title: LDAP_OPT_X_TLS_REQUIRE_CERT handling differences between ldaps:// and STARTTLS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1547927/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1558310] Re: Latest updated stopped exim4
Hi Peter, I believe the security team were stuck between this behaviour and leaving users vulnerable. See http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-2933-1/ for details. There's also information in /usr/share/doc/exim4-config/NEWS.Debian. If there's some way to solve this that fixes the security problem and also doesn't hit some users with customised configurations then we'd love to hear it. But otherwise, this was known by the security team at the time of issuing the update, and the alternative of not leaving users vulnerable was chosen, so I'm marking this bug as Won't Fix. If you can propose some other solution, please do so and set the bug status back to New. Thanks! ** Changed in: exim4 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Tags added: regression-update -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to exim4 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1558310 Title: Latest updated stopped exim4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/exim4/+bug/1558310/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1557830] Re: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb2.6 in xenial, wily, and trusty
Hi Curtis, This looks good. A few minor things: 1. Please run update-maintainer so as not to make the Debian mongodb maintainer appear to be responsible for this package. 2. Architecture list in d/control: we prefer to just say "Architecture: any" and let things FTBFS on architectures we are not directly targeting. This makes life easier for porters, for example xnox. Please update the architecture lists to xnox's satisfaction. 3. Quilt patch drops are misleadingly documented, since patches have changed as well as been dropped. Maybe it's easier to just say that you've synced upstream patches with the mongodb 1:2.6.10-0ubuntu1 from the archive? I'd be fine with that as a changelog entry. 4. As discussed on IRC, since you based this on ubuntu4 and we've had 5 and 6, there are some things that could have been dropped. Please can you check this? If everything is fine, just document that in the changelog. 5. As discussed on IRC, xnox doesn't want this to regress over architecture support he ported in juju-mongodb 2.4. Please could you coordinate with him to reach a conclusion on this? I don't care what you do here as long as xnox is happy. This may involve adding patches. If you add patches to juju-mongodb, it may make sense to also add them to mongodb and/or send things to Debian or upstream. Then our diffs would remain smaller for the future. I'm happy to upload if the above is resolved (even if that means no action). In the longer term, it may be worth figuring out a workflow to keep these Juju-specific mongodb packages updated, as we expect a number of them. The server team's new git-based workflow for merges might be worth looking at, since one thing in common is the need to maintain a delta against something else, and verifying that delta when we bump upstream versions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju-mongodb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1557830 Title: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb2.6 in xenial, wily, and trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju-mongodb/+bug/1557830/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1557852] Re: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb3.2 in xenial, wily, and trusty
Hi Curtis, Again, this looks good on the whole. As discussed on IRC, please add dep3 headers to the quilt patches to help me review and so that we can maintain this better going forward. debian/copyright also probably needs a glance for both this and the 2.6 package, but as discussed I'll leave that between you and the archive admin. I've not completed review yet, but the other changes look fairly straightforward to me. Hopefully this is enough to unblock you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju-mongodb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1557852 Title: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb3.2 in xenial, wily, and trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju-mongodb/+bug/1557852/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
