Re: [Bug 1349949] Re: Juju's mongodb does not need to log every command in syslog

2016-03-19 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
Sorry about this. I do believe it's addressed by our move to Mongo 3.2,
but I haven't tested that as the branch hasn't quite landed. It is
targeted to Juju 2.0 and Ubuntu 16.04 though.

[Bug 1557830] Re: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb2.6 in xenial, wily, and trusty

2016-03-19 Thread Curtis Hovey
Hi Robie, Dimitri

Attached is a diff of my changes per the review.
1. I corrected the maintainer
2. I updated the changelog to state I synced the patches with mongodb 2.6.10.
   Note I refreshed the patches so that they apply without fuzzy.
3, I then reverted the archs to match what juju-core 1.25 and juju-mongodb 2.4
support
4. I dropped the be-port patch.

As we discussed on IRC. The Juju team is adding s390x support to Juju2 and that
will
use juju-mongodb3.2. The juju team wont support 1.25 and juju-mongdb on s390x in
production since that version has not been arch enabled. The older juju
packages will
be demoted to universe. So this package that is used to upgrade from a juju 1.25
env is not needed for big-endian archs.

** Patch added: "changes since review"

[Bug 1556447] Re: lxc-start fails: lxc_cgfsng - cgfsng.c:all_controllers_found:430 - no systemd controller mountpoint found

2016-03-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
The EBUSY errors from lxc-init mounts are ok, it's because lxc has
already mounted those (by following the automatically included
configuration files).

i'd expect eperm for the /sys/kernel/debug mount, because you're not
allowed to read under /sys/kernel/debug. But strace shows that by hand
i also get einval. So nothing here is unexpected or (so long as it
doesn't break anything for you) needing a bug.

[Bug 1558310] [NEW] Latest updated stopped exim4

2016-03-19 Thread Peter N Lewis
Public bug reported:

After the latest automatic update, exim4 was left not running.

/var/log/apt/history.log includes:

Start-Date: 2016-03-16  06:27:04
Upgrade: exim4-base:amd64 (4.82-3ubuntu2, 4.82-3ubuntu2.1), exim4:amd64
(4.82-3ubuntu2, 4.82-3ubuntu2.1), exim4-daemon-heavy:amd64 (4.82-3ubuntu2,
4.82-3ubuntu2.1), exim4-config:amd64 (4.82-3ubuntu2, 4.82-3ubuntu2.1)
Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
End-Date: 2016-03-16  06:27:06

I suspect this is because I have my own exim4 configuration file and the
update is trying to modify the configuration.

Also note this:

# dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config
/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: exim4-config is broken or not fully installed

Leaving exim4 stopped in this case is far from ideal, the SMTP server
was down for ten hours while I was asleep before I noticed the problem.

As far as I understand it, having your own exim configuration file is a
supported system and should not be a cause for an update failure like
this.

[Bug 1522772] Re: logrotate config file matches the wrong files

2016-03-19 Thread Bhargavi
I’ve tested this on Kilo release ( on Ubuntu Trusty server 14.04) and observed
that glance-api.log and glance-registry log files are getting rotated on a
daily basis .
And also old files are getting compressed.

Checked the default configuration in "/etc/logrotate.d/glance-common"
file and that has the below entry. This seems to be correct.

/var/log/glance/*.log {
daily
missingok
compress
delaycompress
copytruncate
notifempty
}

looks like it's working as expected.

[Bug 1558471] [NEW] logrotate config mysql-server fails with error "error: skipping "/var/log/mysql.log"

2016-03-19 Thread gschoenberger
Public bug reported:

The current logrotate config for mysql server 5.5 fails, therefore logs
are not rotated:

root@lxc:/etc# dpkg -l | grep mysql-server
ii  mysql-server5.5.47-0ubuntu0.14.04.1  all
  MySQL database server (metapackage depending on the latest version)
ii  mysql-server-5.55.5.47-0ubuntu0.14.04.1  amd64
  MySQL database server binaries and system database setup
ii  mysql-server-core-5.5   5.5.47-0ubuntu0.14.04.1  amd64
  MySQL database server binaries

root@lxc:~# logrotate -f /etc/logrotate.d/mysql-server
error: skipping "/var/log/mysql.log" because parent directory has insecure
permissions (It's world writable or writable by group which is not "root") Set
"su" directive in config file to tell logrotate which user/group should be used
for rotation.

In order to set up logrotate again, I added (cf. diff attached):
- su root syslog
- notifempty

I added the "notifempty" because in default Ubuntu mysql installations
"/var/log/mysql.log" is not used:
root@lxc:/etc# find /etc/mysql/ -type f -print0 | xargs -0 grep -i
'/var/log/mysql.log'
root@lxc:/etc# echo $?

[Bug 1194074] Re: Default index.html blindly overwritten

2016-03-19 Thread Dan
I'd like to add to this, I installed nginx on my Raspberry Pi and was
using it on my internal network. I'm not an administrator, just a
tinkerer who has no knowledge that the default www share should not be
used. Because of this i've lost my index.html that i was using.

I'd assume there are a lot of users like me who are not using nginx in a
production environment, and as such i consider this to be a bug. A
pretty bad bug that can wipe out someones hard work for absolutely no
reason. Why even overwrite the standard index when you upgrade? It seems
even more ridiculous than expecting everyone to know not to use the
default www.

[Bug 1315888] Re: Zlib functions (gzopen etc.) are undefined while gzopen64 etc. exist

2016-03-19 Thread Robie Basak
This needs someone to prepare and test a debdiff and follow
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure. This is a
requirement for any updates to the stable release so that we reduce the
risk of regression unaffected users. If you can help with any of this,
please do!

When preparing the quilt patch for the debdiff, please use dep3 headers:
http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/

Thanks

[Bug 1349949] Re: Juju's mongodb does not need to log every command in syslog

2016-03-19 Thread Bojan Landekic
I also have logspam with thrashing, but in addition to the "authenticate
db:" lines I also get ones that look like variables are breaking through
juju, with $cmd written in the log instead of the actual value of $cmd.

Mar 16 20:50:36 localhost mongod.37017[5355]: Wed Mar 16 20:50:36.399
[conn20] command juju.$cmd command: { getLastError: 1, j: true }
ntoreturn:1 keyUpdates:0  reslen:101 313ms

Tons of these, so I used the workaround provided above...

:/etc/rsyslog.d# cat 00-ignore-mongo-spam.conf
#
# juju bug #1349949 workaround
#
:msg, contains, "authenticate db: " stop
:msg, contains, "command presence.\$cmd command" stop
:msg, contains, "command juju.\$cmd command" stop

That fully fixes my logspam for juju 1.25.3-wily-amd64

[Bug 1556306] [NEW] vhost-user: qemu stops processing packets under high load of traffic

2016-03-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Description of problem:
- qemu socket becomes full, causing qemu to send incomplete
SET_VRING_CALL messages to vhost-user backend (without proper fd set in
ancillary data).
- after some time, some interrupts are lost, causing the VM to stop
transmitting packets.

How reproducible:
Run a stress tests of a vhost-user interface using an UDP
traffic generator. Traffic generator (IXIA) was connected to 2 physical ports
that are in turn connected to 2 virtio ports through a linux bridge, VM
(running linux) doing routing to forward packets between the 2 virtio ports.
When traffic reaches high pps rates of small packets,

Actual results:
- VM stop transmitting packets

Expected results:
- VM should never stop transmitting packets

Additional info:
We do propose a fix at:
  http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2015-12/msg00652.html

[Bug 1559408] [NEW] Many PMD driver options are disabled, including "BNX2X"!

2016-03-19 Thread Thiago Martins
Public bug reported:

Guys,

 After deep research on the following problem:

 Xenial - OpenvSwitch with DPDK binding to 10G NIC, not working:
 https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-discuss/2016-March/016287.html

 I realized that, going against the DPDK documentation:

 http://dpdk.org/doc/guides/nics/bnx2x.html

 The option "CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_BNX2X_PMD" is DISABLED by default! Not
enabled, as the doc points (CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_BNX2X_PMD (default y))...

 Take a look:

---
cd ~/sources/dpdk

apt source dpdk

cd dpdk-2.2.0

$ grep PMD config/common_linuxapp | grep ^CONFIG | grep n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_MLX4_PMD=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_MLX5_PMD=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_BNX2X_PMD=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_NFP_PMD=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_SZEDATA2=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_PCAP=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_XENVIRT=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_QAT=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_QAT_DEBUG_INIT=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_QAT_DEBUG_TX=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_QAT_DEBUG_RX=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_QAT_DEBUG_DRIVER=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_AESNI_MB=n
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_PMD_AESNI_MB_DEBUG=n
CONFIG_RTE_TEST_PMD_RECORD_CORE_CYCLES=n
CONFIG_RTE_TEST_PMD_RECORD_BURST_STATS=n
---

 I strong believe that this is the main problem with OpenvSwitch + DPDK
on Ubuntu, that causes OVS to not find any "dpdkX" interfaces! Even if
DPDK-Compatible driver is there, being used!!!

 So, I added the following line:

---
-e 's,(CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_BNX2X_PMD=).*,\1y,' \
---

 To DPDK's debian/rules file, it now looks like this:

---
build-config:
dh_testdir
$(MAKE) O=$(DPDK_STATIC_DIR) T=$(DPDK_CONFIG) config
sed -ri -e 's,(RTE_MACHINE=).*,\1"default",' \
-e 's,(RTE_NEXT_ABI=).*,\1n,' \
-e 's,(RTE_APP_TEST=).*,\1n,' \
-e 's,(CONFIG_RTE_EAL_IGB_UIO=).*,\1n,' \
-e 's,(CONFIG_RTE_KNI_KMOD=).*,\1n,' \
-e 's,(CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_COMBINE_LIBS=).*,\1y,' \
-e 's,(CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_BNX2X_PMD=).*,\1y,' \
-e 's,(LIBRTE_PMD_PCAP=).*,\1y,' \
-e 's,(LIBRTE_PMD_XENVIRT=).*,\1y,' \
$(DPDK_STATIC_DIR)/.config
---

 Note: There is a need to install:

sudo apt install zlib1g-dev

 After that, now, I can see a very different behavior! Still not
working... lol

 But some progress, look, the error on OVS log is very different now:

---
ovs-ctl[2170]: EAL: PCI device :01:00.0 on NUMA socket 0
ovs-ctl[2170]: EAL:   probe driver: 14e4:168a rte_bnx2x_pmd

ovs-ctl[2170]: ovs-vswitchd:

ovs-vswitchd[2551]: EAL: PCI memory mapped at 0x7f618000

ovs-vswitchd[2551]: EAL: PCI memory mapped at 0x7f618100
ovs-ctl[2170]: Aborted (core dumped)
---

 So, I tried something different, changed /etc/dpdk/interfaces from
this:

---
pci:01:00.0uio_pci_generic
pci:01:00.1uio_pci_generic
---

 To this:

---
pci:01:00.0vfio-pci
pci:01:00.1vfio-pci
---

 And now, a completely different, error message (still not working):

---
ovs-vswitchd[2950]: EAL: PCI device :01:00.0 on NUMA socket 0
ovs-vswitchd[2950]: EAL:   probe driver: 14e4:168a rte_bnx2x_pmd
ovs-vswitchd[2950]: EAL: :01:00.0 VFIO group is not viable!
ovs-vswitchd[2950]: EAL: Error - exiting with code: 1
ovs-vswitchd[2950]: Requested device :01:00.0 cannot be used
---

 It looks much better with VFIO! There is no more "core dumped"!

 But still not working.

 So, I'm opening this bug report, so you guys can enable the PMD drivers
for all the remaining drivers, like BNX2X, MLX4 & 5, XENVIRT, QAT, PCAP
and etc (maybe I am missing other DPDK options that we must enable! Lets
take a deep look into those disabled options)...

 However, I'm curious about the usage of BNX2X when with
"uio_pci_generic", what is that firmware error followed by a core dump?
Very intriguing...

 BTW, when with VFIO, I added the following options "iommu=pt
intel_iommu=on" to /etc/default/grub, otherwise, VFIO doesn't work.

 And, after reading the VFIO OVS error message, "VFIO group is not
viable", I google for it and I found the following blog post about this:

[IOMMU] The error of "VFIO group is not viable":
http://danny270degree.blogspot.com.br/2015/12/iommu-error-of-vfio-group-is-not-viable.html

 So, I think that I am almost there! It is just a matter of configuring
this VFIO group thing but, I have no idea about how to do that... :-P

 Christian is using ixgbe driver, which have PMD enabled by default!
That's why his setup works (ixgbe), and mine

[Bug 1551351] Re: dhclient does not renew leases

2016-03-19 Thread Stefan Bader
We have some testing packages that can be obtained by adding Lamont's
PPA (sudo apt-add-ppa ppa:lamont/ppa). From local testing this looks to
be solving at least the lease renewals. At least for me a normal kill
still seems not enough to end the dhclient daemon.

This cannot be a bug on architecture-s39064 and 14.04.3 release

@bugproxy -> why these tags were added? Is this an automation issue, or

[Bug 1551952] Re: FFE: Please merge multipath-tools 0.5.0+git1.656f8865 from Debian unstable

2016-03-19 Thread Stéphane Graber
Unfortunate that this only gets in so late in the cycle, but I can
certainly see the benefit of updating this before we have to support it
for 5 years.

Testing seems reasonable. debdiff is unreviewable so we can only rely on
the testing...

Assuming that you'll take care of any yet unknown regression from this,
you may go ahead and upload the merge.

Hi,

so just to be clear, is there any reason for this not to be marked a
duplicate of 1556306 (and that bug marked as also affecting qemu-kvm)?
The same patch should be applied for both?
