[Bug 1510345] Re: [SRU] Cloud Images do not bring up networking w/ certain virtual NICs due to device naming rules

2016-04-26 Thread Scott Moser
this is fix-released from cloud-init perspective in xenial.
If you disagree, please state why and open the bug. cloud-init now renders
.rules files and configures ENI per the datasource's provided network config or
a fallback network config.

[Bug 1574963] Re: juju2 lxd launch hostname reverse lookup inconsistent

2016-04-26 Thread Scott Moser
This is solvable in cloud-init, and it would not be terribly invasive
for the lxc datasource (nocloud) as that is "local". For other
datasources that use the network, its more complex at least for now as
getting the hostname would mean dhcp on the network interface and thus
advertising 'ubuntu'. The azure datasource actually bounces the network
interface after it comes up.

So, 2 simple-ish solutions for this
a.) cloud-init for nocloud datasource tries to apply the hostname found in the
datasource when it applies networking configuration (before networking comes
up). That seems quite reasonable.
b.) the lxd templates could write /etc/hostname . I thought at one point they
did.

[Bug 1575119] [NEW] [SRU] Open vSwitch 2.4.1, 2.3.3 stable updates

2016-04-26 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

The Open vSwitch team is pleased to announce the release of Open vSwitch
2.4.1:

http://openvswitch.org/releases/openvswitch-2.4.1.tar.gz

and Open vSwitch 2.3.3:

http://openvswitch.org/releases/openvswitch-2.3.3.tar.gz

Both of these releases contain bug fixes. Most importantly, they
address a remote execution vulnerability in MPLS parsing
(CVE-2016-2074):

http://openvswitch.org/pipermail/announce/2016-March/82.html

We recommend immediately upgrading to a patched version. If you do not
want the other fixes, the advisory above contain patches that may be
applied to the previous releases.

Note that Open vSwitch 2.5.x is not affected by this issue.

We would like to thank the reporters: Kashyap Thimmaraju and Bhargava
Shastry.

Enjoy!
