[Bug 918170] Re: Update error WARNING: Clamd was NOT notified: Can't connect to clamd through /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl
Hi Is clamav daemon running? If not, that could be the cause of the _warning_. It's not necessarily a bug, it just says that it can't notify clamav-daemon (so that it knows the database got updated). Do you even use clamav daemon? You can check if clamav-daemon package is installed. If it's not, that warning message is normal (IMO). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to clamav in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/918170 Title: Update error WARNING: Clamd was NOT notified: Can't connect to clamd through /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clamav/+bug/918170/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 732645] Re: package clamav-freshclam 0.96.5 dfsg-1ubuntu1.10.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
It seems like for example the /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log file is created by default (by .postinst script) with the 'adm' group. root@utest-mms32:/var/lib/dpkg/info# grep adm clamav-freshclam.postinst echo " create 640 $User adm" >> $DEBROTFILE chown "$User":adm "$udlogfile" chown "$dbowner":adm $FRESHCLAMLOGFILE chown "$dbowner":adm $FRESHCLAMCONFFILE But the 'adm' group should exist by default, it's not created by any clamav package. Possibly it was removed from that system, or something else happened outside clamav. [Bug 708395] Re: clamdscan can't scan anything
clamdscan is just a command line tool that issues commands to clamav-daemon. The files are scanned by clamav-daemon, which runs as a daemon with clamav user (by default). You can only scan folders and files to which clamav-daemon (the clamav user) has access to. So if you want to check a directory like /a/b/c, every directory along the way has to have the correct permissions for clamav user to access them. If /a doesn't have it, clamav-daemon can't get to b or c... clamdscan is not really ment to be run by normal users from the command line. If you really want that, you have to give the correct permissions to clamav-daemon (= clamav user). clamscan on the other hand should work just fine on every directory your user has access to, it's just that it's slower because it has to load the virus database at startup. The above goes when apparmor/selinux is not running. If apparmor is running, there are more restrictions on clamav-daemon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to clamav in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/708395 Title: clamdscan can't scan anything -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 687535] Re: upstart loses track of ssh daemon after reload ssh
I'm guessing this is waiting for a SRU. Here's the patch for Lucid and Maverick. Description updated for SRU. Please somebody add some notes to 'REGRESSION POTENTIAL' because I have no idea about that... ** Description changed: When sshd gets a signal 1 for reload, it forks a new process and ditches the old. This causes upstart to believe that ssh has crashed, and loses track of it. A second reload (or any other initctl operation on ssh) will thus say: reload: Unknown instance: There would be 2 ways to fix this: 1. Don't have ssh fork on relod, but keep the same pid 2. Use a different mechanism in upstart to keep track of ssh. Maybe a pid file? Just tracking children of the exited ssh won't work, or it might accidentally track a particular session rather than the master, if somebody just happens to log in close to reload time. + openssh-server 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu4 + upstart 0.6.5-7 - # lsb_release -rd - Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS - Release:10.04 + Info for Maverick, Lucid SRU + IMPACT: if sshd gets a HUP signal, it forks a new process and upstart thinks the process died and loses track of it, so the user/admin uses the ability to stop/start/reload the daemon through upstart. + The problem is fixed in Natty 5.6p1-2ubuntu3. [Bug 629234] Re: package vsftpd 2.2.2-3ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
This was fixed in Natty but a little bit differently, see bug #656415 . Should the fix be taken from there and SRU'd back to Maverick and Lucid or is the above patch sufficient (or maybe even better) ? In Natty there is this for checking if the user/group exists: if ! getent passwd | grep -q "^${_USERNAME}:" if ! getent group | grep -q "^${_USERNAME}:" And in this bugreport the fix being suggested in comment #6 is using getent to find the entry, without using grep. If nothing else, it feels cleaner: if ! getent passwd ${_USERNAME} >/dev/null 2>&1 if ! getent group ${_USERNAME} >/dev/null 2>&1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vsftpd in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/629234 Title: package vsftpd 2.2.2-3ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 572123] Re: Openvpn 2.1_rc7 in Hardy: ifconfig-pool-persist broken
I CAN'T confirm this bug on Hardy. As per the manpage: --ifconfig-pool-persist file [seconds] Persist/unpersist ifconfig-pool data to file, at seconds intervals (default=600), as well as on program startup and shutdown. I ran an openvpn on Hardy with the following options: ifconfig-pool 172.16.22.224 172.16.22.255 ifconfig-pool-persist ipp.txt 10 At startup there was a file named ipp.txt created, it was empty. Then I connected a client which got an IP address from the pool and after 10 seconds the ipp.txt file was updated. Because by default it saves the file every 10 minutes, it's easy to think it doesn't get anything, but if you shut the openvpn server down, it automatically saves the IP addresses in the file. @Michael: if you could provide more details about your setup, we could try reproducing the problem.
