What I'm referring to is the reason why we removed this in the postinst in the first place, which itself referred to what was done in Bug 256216. Public bug reported: Please sync mtx 1.3.12-6 (main) from Debian unstable (main) Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped: After looking at a diff between Ubuntu and Debian, it appears that the only relevant change is a difference in the wording of the description of the package, which isn't even mentioned in the changelog as part of the delta (strangely, the only thing that is constantly mentioned is the change in maintainer, which shouldn't even be relevant).
