[Bug 1223730] Re: mDNS failure with openvswitch 1.10
I've now updated to Saucy and I still have the same problem on multiple machines with openswitch. I have a KVM test machine that has a ubuntu VM running on it plugged into a vswitch that is in turn plugged in via the quad port bond you can see here. Iron is the KVM host, the host shows no mDNS activity, I can't get .local resolution in or out and if I use avahi-browse -a I can't see anything at all on the network. The same network but on a VM inside Iron running via openvswitch and it works fine as can be seen at the end. root@iron:~# uname -a Linux iron 3.11.0-13-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 23 07:38:26 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux root@iron:~# dpkg-query -W openvswitch-switch openvswitch-switch 1.10.2-0ubuntu2 root@iron:~# ovs-vsctl show cd554298-25b0-4b64-a472-78f130d011c2 Bridge embedded Port "bond0" Interface "em0" Interface "em1" Port "mgmt0" Interface "mgmt0" type: internal Port embedded Interface embedded type: internal Bridge internal Port "internal0" Interface "internal0" type: internal Port internal Interface internal type: internal Port "vnet4" Interface "vnet4" Bridge quadport Port "vnet2" Interface "vnet2" Port "bond1" Interface "qp1" Interface "qp3" Interface "qp0" Interface "qp2" Port "quadport0" Interface "quadport0" type: internal Port quadport Interface quadport type: internal Port "vnet1" Interface "vnet1" Port "vnet0" Interface "vnet0" Port "vnet3" Interface "vnet3" ovs_version: "1.10.2" tim@ubuntu:~$ uname -a Linux ubuntu 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux tim@ubuntu:~$ avahi-browse -a + eth0 IPv6 iconnect [70:1a:04:50:b6:d0] Workstation local + eth0 IPv6 backups-gmail [52:54:00:41:37:4b] Workstation local + eth0 IPv6 ubuntu [52:54:00:ab:e6:e5]Workstation local + eth0 IPv4 iconnect [70:1a:04:50:b6:d0] Workstation local + eth0 IPv4 backups-gmail [52:54:00:41:37:4b] Workstation local + eth0 IPv4 ubuntu [52:54:00:ab:e6:e5]Workstation local -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openvswitch in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1223730 Title: mDNS failure with openvswitch 1.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/+bug/1223730/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1223730] Re: mDNS failure with openvswitch 1.10
Ah sorry, I had updated to the latest OVS version from saucy by enabling the saucy repos and just updating relevant libvirt and OVS packages. The show command I included was run on 1.9 after I downgraded again to get printing working (printers found via mDNS) I've looked at the packets on the raw port with tcpdump and the mDNS packets are definitely getting to the port but not to the host machine. I'll try upgrading the machine to the current saucy packages and report back in a few days. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openvswitch in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1223730 Title: mDNS failure with openvswitch 1.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/+bug/1223730/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1223730] [NEW] mDNS failure with openvswitch 1.10
Public bug reported: I have upgraded my Ubuntu 13.04 KVM test machine to the latest version of QEMU/openvswitch/libvirt and I am having problems with mDNS. I've not upgraded the kernel on the host machine so I am using current (3.8.0-30). Fully internal openvswitch: VM -> VM mDNS works VM -> internal port (ie the host machine) fails External openvswitch, ie with an ethernet port plugged in. The NIC chipset is the Intel 82579V VM -> VM mDNS works VM -> External host mDNS works VM -> internal port (ie the host machine) fails External host -> internal port (ie the host machine) fails With openvswitch 1.9 all of these work. ** Affects: openvswitch (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openvswitch in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1223730 Title: mDNS failure with openvswitch 1.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/+bug/1223730/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
