Sorry, should this bug be marked invalid based on comments #6 and #7?

2014-01-18 Thread Dana Goyette
Hmm, I've gone on to use git qemu and newer OVMF, and I'm running into
various other hangs that are not necessarily the same. Feel free to
place this bug back in its previous status; I've unmarked affects me
too for now.

Er, I mean, I'm using 3.13-rc5 plus Trusty packages on Saucy.

[Bug 1266746] Re: x86_64: Fails to start using EFI firmware

2014-01-11 Thread Dana Goyette
I can confirm this, though in my case, I'm using 3.13-rc5 kernel plus
Trusty's qemu-related packages.

The following command works (though gives no isa-debugcon output):
qemu-system-x86_64 -M pc -m 5120 -boot menu=on -monitor stdio -chardev
stdio,id=seabios -device isa-debugcon,iobase=0x402,chardev=seabios -bios
/usr/share/ovmf/OVMF.fd

The following command hangs:
qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -M pc -m 5120 -boot menu=on -monitor stdio
-chardev stdio,id=seabios -device isa-debugcon,iobase=0x402,chardev=seabios
-bios /usr/share/ovmf/OVMF.fd

Hitting ^D at the monitor console tells the VM to continue and allows the
system to boot. I don't know why ovmf behaves this way, but it seems to be
the expected behavior; when running the VM under virt-manager, it starts up
without hesitation.

2014-01-10 Thread Steve Langasek
For the record, I can't reproduce this issue here with my existing VMs.
It's possible this is a bug with virt-manager, configuring newly-created
VMs with wrong commandlines in trusty.
