[Bug 1330120] Re: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.
Same here with Host Europe. OpenVZ doesn´t support this, so I would have to rent a root server - either physical or virtualized, but with another virtualization software. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to facter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330120 Title: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15. [Bug 1330120] Re: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.
I´m having the same problem as the OP. /proc/interrupts doesn´t exist on virtual servers, at least not ones running under OpenVZ (afaik my provider uses this). ** Changed in: facter (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to facter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330120 Title: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15. [Bug 1330120] Re: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.
If you're not running an Ubuntu system (including an Ubuntu kernel), then you will need to take this up with your hosting provider, since it is their customization that has broken things. Alternatively, you could seek an upstream patch to remove the dependency that facter has on /proc/interrupts existing. Whichever way, I still don't think this is a valid bug in facter in Ubuntu. Ubuntu provides /proc/interrupts. ** Changed in: facter (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to facter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330120 Title: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15. [Bug 1330120] Re: facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.
FWIW, Strato replied that the warnings were harmless (who would have thought …), but I could rent a root server (just a 262.5 % increase in costs :-)) to get rid of them and a true Ubuntu installation instead. So taking this upstream is probably the sensible approach.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. /proc/interrupts exists on all Ubuntu systems. It seems to me that you're running some kind of modified version of Ubuntu if you don't have one. I suggest that you take this up with your hosting provider. Since this doesn't appear to be a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug Invalid. If this is not correct, please explain and reopen.
