Not a bug in samba (or in CIFS in the kernel) then... maybe a bug in Diffuse and those other editors ? Any other editors not included by default in the distribuition...
Another editor I would really like to be able to save files is Diffuse.
But every time I edit a file in the program it does not allow me to save
the file. It allows me to create anew version of the file ("Save as")
but if i try to save the file by modifing it directly it returns an
error.
I can go that in gedit or nano or other programs.

Anyone can help? Still having the same problem... The volumes can be mounted and edited in gedit and on the terminal but other editors such as eclipse say the files as read-only... I do not think this is a low importance bug... I did not have these problems in 9.04 but only in 9.10 so something must have changed in the new version to make this happen.
