Public bug reported: The dovecot-common.postinst script adds the user to group mail, which is disrecommended by Upstream [1].
This bug has already been fixed in Debian [2] and in the maint bzr repo [3] So why I'm reporting this is to make sure that it is fixed in the older versions to make sure that the user is not added back to the group on systems where it has been removed manually on the next update of the package. I don't know how that exactly works (I did not find branches for the old versions in the maint repo or something, but it should be fixed somehow :) ) [1] http://wiki.dovecot.org/UserIds [2] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=457123 [3] http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/dovecot/ubuntu/annotate/head%3A/debian/dovecot-common.postinst ** Affects: dovecot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Don't add user `dovecot` to group mail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510418 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
