Ok, they are good after all. Samba doesn't add a PTR record, so these patches didn't help there. When the DNS doesn't know about the host, it'll create a new A record for it on domain join, and that works with these patches. I need to do some further tests, seems like the server doesn't add a PTR record if there wasn't one when the host was added.
