I really need mysql-server for work. I can't use ubuntu without it. My approach right now is to install mysql-5.0. All I did to run into this problem on multiple computers is try to install mysql-server on Ubuntu 11.04 on 64-bit. When I installed the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS version in virtual box I was able to install mysql-server.
