I have the same problem, but it's appear in different networks, with some servers all work fine, with another session is hangs. I'm noticing the same thing when I SSH into my 12.10 VM's on Amazon. I usually use ssh for tunneling a TS connection. After update my conection frozen after a while, usually after a fullscreen update on remote PC, console is frozen too. actually, I only get the bug on wifi connection (using kernel module wl). I have the same problem since upgrading to precise in gnome-terminal. tty sessions not affected.
